Matuk gave me a colonoscopy without ever a follow up. So Mary or Mark; hope I didn't get the gender wrong, the office manager, refused me because they said I saw another VA doctor. Why would the VA make an appointment with Matuk if I saw another doctor? That didn't make sense or wasn't a logical reason refuse to see me OR it's because of my service to this country. Dr. Matuk's office refused me because of my veterans service or because of my ethnic background as a Native American! I have 2 excellent insurances both Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the VA insurance but was refused service. As a proud member of the VA and the American Legion of California, I will be informing ALL veterans of this horrible group of medical "professionals" and Matuk's office! Horrible people!!!

My husband was in so much pain he wanted to end all treatment and enter hospice care. My husband's regular doctor was in Santa Barbara and he was too ill to travel for follow up care so he reluctantly agreed to find a PCP in Bakersfield. I asked around for the best Doctor in town and was referred to Dr. Heidrick. Dr. Heidrick met with him for his first visit on a Monday, ordered STAT tests Tuesday, Correctly Diagnosed my husband Wednesday and had him to the top Surgeon at UCLA on Thursday. Needless to say his recovery has been bumpy but Dr. Heidrick and his amazing staff have been with us every step of the way. My husband's recovery goal was to play golf and today for my husbands birthday he was able to play golf with his son. So grateful to Dr. Heidrick and his staff. Making an appointment is not fun - you get sent a text message and "request" an appointment. After several days, you still need to call the office, if you can get anyone to answer the phone to make the appointment. Send an email - no response. Communication is not very good. That being said, I just had a baby 5 months ago and now we are at their new office every few months and I am so relieved to have this doctor's office for my daughter!! We saw Dr. Shah for her newborn checkup and his bedside manner has improved immensely. He was so kind and patient with us and caring about my baby's well-being! I love him. I love all the doctors here! And staff. They are all awesome! It's great because even if the doctors are busy, they have a lot of nurse practitioners to help them with their patient loads so it's easy to schedule appointments. We usually see Kat, Dr. Shah's nurse prac and she is the kindest, most loving person. We love her so much. Thank you SW pediatric!! Oh and their new office is amazing!
