This is a great salon! I came here with the bride, bridal party, and moms to get our hair and makeup done. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect location, set up or staff. They had champagne and flutes ready for us by couches in the back. We had that area to ourselves to set our things, relax and enjoy some mimosas. They also served fresh coffee from AM coffee roasters. Our hairstylists were ready right on schedule for us, and we were all able to get our hair done at the same time. Great location in an old warehouse with river views from the windows. I had Olivia style my hair in an updo. I showed her some pictures, and she was able to mix them all and make it gorgeous! It stayed up for the entire night! The bride went in early to practice her hair and makeup, so the day of there were no surprises. They helped attach her veil to her updo and show us how to remove it without ruining her hairstyle. All the stylists were very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere for the morning of the Wedding day! Prices were very reasonable and fair for everything. If I lived closer this would be my go to spot for haircuts. Highly highly recommend for weddings, special events or just regular haircuts. read more

I just got my hair cut by Frankie and she did an AMAZING job! I haven't had a haircut in over a year and went in without a clue as to what I wanted really(a stylists nightmare I'm sure). I described to her how my hair is naturally and how I usually style or dont style it and she gave me a great cut! I asked her to style it a specific way after the cut was finished and she totally delivered! I'm so sad I don't live locally or I'd be a regular with her. Upsetting that a business's owners would be so RUDE, condescending, and deceptive towards me when I asked a simple question. A purchase was made 12/7, the receipt was brought in well before the 30 days, and it clearly states - a refund would be given. They refused to make the transaction right. I was very polite and the owner Carter started getting very agitated for valid reason other than to intimidate me. He kept repeating "no business would give a refund". There were two others at the desk that started chiming in to rattle me. Unprofessional, terrible customer service, and stated they would not honor what was in writing on the receipt. I can't imagine working for these people. It would have cost them so much less to do the right thing vs. cost of what I can do word of mouth to tell the truth about this place. read more

Maybe it was my stylist, however, I had a very poor experience. I needed to return for them to finish/fix my cut from my initial appointment. I appreciate they didn't charge the second time (however it was fixing/finishing from the first visit). Will not return...especially after requesting and paying a senior stylist price. read more

I used to love going to carters to get my hair done but I've had some pretty consistent bad experiences. The one that really made me upset was my most recent experience in a bridal party. I'm a very understanding person and typically give people the benefit of the doubt but I couldn't with Olivia. I was a part of a bridal party so I came for a styled look asking for a half up/half down. All of my curls were half kinked and half curled, it didn't look intentional, it was a mess to say the least. After she put half of it up, as I requested, it looked NOTHING like the picture! The half up section was messy and you could see the roots of my hair with the white dry shampoo powder on my scalp. You could also see the Boby pins. After she showed me what it looked like I asked to change it to something that might have seamed more simplistic with one side of my hair pined back. Again it was nothing like the picture so I just left it because we ran out of our schedules time. I ended up redoing my hair and before we even got to the wedding every curl had fallen out because of how many times t had to be re-done, my hair was flat and unappealing! To say I was unpleased would be an understatement, it was a large part of what ruined my day! When you go to a salon to pay someone to get your hair done it's supposed to make you feel confident and beautiful, it had quite the opposite effect. I will not be recommending Olivia to anyone and at this point I won't be recommending Carter's Salon either because of past experiences win bad choppy hair cuts. read more

The ambiance of the salon is great and the reception friendly. They offer drinks including wine. My stylist was Skylar and she was on key with her consultation. During the hair wash they place a steamed towel on the hair and offer hand massages, which is wonderful. I'm very happy with the service I received here. read more

I am so glad Carter' Salon is open again. The whole place looks so nice and crisp! I felt welcomed and very comfortable. Had a nice conversation with my friend Lynet and my hair looks great! This place is awesome! The moment I walked in the door I no longer felt like I was in Grafton,WI...I felt like I was in some high end salon in New York or something;) But you would think the high end look would come with the high end "attitude"...not true! The entire staff is so inviting and friendly that it just feels like one big family in there. I was very happy with how my services turned out. As a new customer, I felt Laura took excellent care of me & really took the time to get to know and understand exactly what I was looking for & was able to provide that. I had and have never felt more pampered than when I came here. I like to feel that going to a salon for services is a treat & I like to feel "pampered". Carter's is very relaxing & i have never been pampered more by any salon/stylist. I would suggest arriving alittle early. The salon is located in what I think was an old, renovated mill (really neat building) on the river with good views of nature. It took me a second to first find the building from the road (signage is minimal) & then once in building walk to the salon entrance. read more

Best Salon in Grafton!! My mom has been going to Carter's for the last few years. I flew into town this week and wanted to visit Carter's again. I've always had a good experience as this salon. Friendly staff, great merchandise, high quality products, great pedicures and good stylists. The prices are very reasonable compared to salons in the Mequon area. A+++ read more

Really cool building, great haircuts, and a very friendly staff! The only downside if you're a guy is what I consider to be a fairly high price for a men's haircut, I paid $32 + tip. I just may be cheap or used to paying $12. Either way, my hair looked pretty damn good when I walked out of here :-). I was referred to Carter's by my girlfriend who got her eyebrows waxed here, and I must say that they looked pretty seductive & sexy when they were done with those. Pretty sure I had to hold myself back from ripping off her clothes when I saw her with those foxy brows, but what else is new since she's the best thing since artisan gluten-free sliced bread. Carter's is a superb salon. I see Sarah B. on a regular basis and love the cuts and color she has done for me. She is calming, friendly and has made what she does truly an art. When I moved to Grafton three years ago, I was nervous to end my relationship with my hair stylist in Brookfield at Vici that I'd had for many, many years. Not only is the service better at Carter's, but the pricing and ambience is heads above the other place I was at. My stylist gives me a great, massaging shampoo, plus she massages my hands while I'm under a hot towel. Receptionists and people on the phone are always professional and courteous. The building is architecturally interesting as it's an old mill, giving it an industrial and modern feel in the salon. read more

Really beautiful historic building with woodwork all around. Beautiful open space. Everyone was very professional. I came in for a drastic change. Went from really long hair to just above shoulders. Paige was great and helped me decide on the cut that would work with the shape of my face. I was offered hand massage during the wash which was great because as a mom I don't really get time to pamper myself anymore. I was really happy with my cut and friendly service. read more

So we called Carters to set up a FREE consultation, got there today and then we were called in the back and they started to apply the make-up..when they were done we gave them a $10 tip for their service and then they walked us out. We were driving away and i received a phone call from them..i figured i must have left something behind but instead they were yelling at us for not paying...at this point i was confused because we had been there for the FREE consultation so we went back to talk to them and figure out what was going on. When we got there they told us we got make-up applied and had to pay, we told them we had scheduled a FREE consultation and they then told us that they accidentally put on their scheduling that is was an application NOT a FREE consultation and then the man behind the desk said "Well even though we messed up you got make-up on so stop complaining and pay" After this we were so upset we decided to just pay the $60 since on their website it says make-up IS $30 per person...but then they said it wasn't enough money because one of the make-up stylist is more expensive...hmmmm but your website doesn't say that...so how am i to know that. So at this point we are wanting to talk to the Manager and go figure the man who told us to deal with it and pay WAS THE MANAGER! I was shocked and appalled..the man who made me feel like a stupid pile of dirt was the MANAGER!!!! So it ended up our FREE CONSULTATION was $100.....so if you go to this Salon be ready to have the money taken out right from under your nose...never was there a sorry or a here lets work this out..NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! I wanted to have a great time with my mom tonight getting our make-up done and seeing how we would look for the wedding but instead we were pawns in a game we didn't want to play...and now we sit here sad and upset with how someone can be so rude and make you pay for THEIR MISTAKE!
