After trying to remove the asphalt by driving one tire on the rumble strip, we exited the freeway and sought help. The tire store at the truck stop was useless, so we Yelped tires and located the Walmart automotive center. It was located behind the store so it was not visible from the street. After a few minutes of explanation they pulled the car into the tire bay. The almost new tire was fine, just coated in one spot with lumpy asphalt! We didn't need a new tire! While waiting inside the store we Googled asphalt removal and discovered the good old WD -40would do the job! We had to back out of the tire bay since the store couldn't use the product on the tire. We bought the large regular formula and sprayed down the tire. And waited a while...like ten minutes. The poet gooey asphalt started to melt, and we were able to drive away, shedding asphalt with every rotation of the wheel! Thanks Walmart for being so honest!
