You would think that because we are a smaller HEB than the ones in Austin and larger shopping areas would not have time for common courtesy, yet they always take the time to say "Hi" or smile and lately it has been that this is not so with our younger millennials. I was quite surprised that the "bagger" was much more friendly and said "Thank you"(with a smile); even though he did engage in the conversation; without being rude to the customer. I have worked in retail, grocery, fast food, labor, etc and have never not taken a few moments to acknowledge my customer (no matter their appearance or demeanor). Customers are the reason jobs continue forward and a simple rule of "pay it forward". Now, I would rather wait in a longer line to actually not have to end my shopping with such a "sour taste of customer service". I applaud the employees that do always take the time to greet either with eye contact, a smile or a simple "Hi" to the public.
