I'd only been here one time before, but I thought the food was excellent, & I knew they were pretty close, so I called. The sweetest young woman told me that they had $2 taco Tuesdays! Beef/chicken, soft/ hard shell. I was honestly so hungry, I took a bite of the middle 1 & that's why it's turned around, and doesn't look all that great. They were excellent. Those tacos were stuffed, I could only eat 1, brought the other 2, home. I didn't eat a whole lot of chips, either, but let's talk about the homemade salsa! Spicy perfection! You can purchase a lg ($8) or small ($4). I got the Lg one, and Pam the #NumeroUno waitress in the entire , was kind enough to put the salsa into 2 containers for me. I was really grateful for that because if I'd had just the lg container, my small household probly wouldn't hv finished it b4 it, expired(?). Pam was just a gem all the way around. Great spot, excellent service, kid friendly...you must visit.

But everything else just misses the mark. The ambiance and decor look very cheap and thrown together -- it feels more like they raided a dollar store for decorations. It really needs a lot of work to match the quality you'd expect from a restaurant charging the prices they do. The food is okay -- not terrible, but definitely not great either. It's just average, which would be fine if it were priced fairly. But for what you're getting, it's way too expensive. To make matters worse, they've never gotten my order right, which gets frustrating after giving them multiple chances. Overall, I can't recommend Los Pinguinos. It feels like a waste of money, and I left more disappointed than anything. I wanted authentic flavor and a nice experience, but this just wasn't it.

She even remembered that I ordered Lime and Cilantro on the side of my meal and had a preference of Corn Tortillas! COME ON MAN!!! PIA IS AMAZING!!! Juan Miguel's... I don't know what you guys are paying this young woman, but whatever it is... it is not enough! She is phenomenal! Don't get me wrong, we come there for the fantastic food but Pia has made the experience something much more special than we anticipated. It's worth it! I'll never understand why people think restaurants owe them free chips and salsa. It's a nice surprise when I get it, but I would never expect it. And some cervezas!

My friend got a burrito off of the lunch menu even though it was dinner time (there was no burrito listed on the dinner menu ). His burrito was enormous! I ordered 2 fish tacos and they were like $5.50 each. I also ordered a side of beans and rice, which was about $5.00 also. I was so far from my two fish tacos that I brought the rice and beans home and my friend somehow managed to attack his entire burrito although like I said it was enormous. The restaurant isn't obvious from the outside...I passed by it when looking for it....but it is worth the search. The restaurant is very clean and is bright and cheerful. The service is top notch...Uber friendly staff...attentive and efficient. When you order, you're given freshly made tortillas and salsa (with a combination of sauces). On my last visit, I ordered the Enchilada Rojah...5 chicken enchiladas, smothered in cheese and a red sauce, topped with lettuce. It came with Mexican rice and beans. It was off the charts good...far and away the best I've had dining out. My dining companion ordered the Baritta Taco....3 beef Tacos, covered in onions, paired with a beef broth soup (that is used for dipping the tacos). The broth was incredible...a rich combination of flavours. Once the Tacos were woofed down, he dived into the soup. He was in awe of the complexity of the dish and said he would come back again and again just to have this dish. Once you're done...you go to the cash register to pay. This place is outstanding...I highly recommend it.

Even the fries were the good "battered" style fries you wouldn't expect at a Mexican place. Rice & beans also great. My 6-year ate his entire lengua taco kids meal and my picky 4-year old gave the chicken nuggets 2 thumbs up ("they taste like McDonalds!" - ha!) This business makes some seriously good and authentic Mexican street taco's. My carne Asada…read more(Steak) and Al Pastor (pork) taco's were well made and ohhh sooo tasty. From the doubled up corn tortillas, to the tender well cooked meat, cilantro and their wonderful sautéed onions these Street style Taco's are as authentic as anything you would get in Mexico. The gratis house chips and Salsa were equally tasty and a nice complement to the Taco's all being washed down with a sugar cane based Mexican coke. The total bill came in at a very reasonable cost of $12 which is a great value in today's economy and a great deal by any standard. Relative to staff and facility, this appears to be a small family run business where the restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall at the corner of Franklin and Square Lake Rd with an equally small footprint for the restaurant. This is a very unpretentious business (think hole in a wall but in a nice way) with a limited number of dining tables and small staff. Having said that, I had no problem in getting seated and getting my order taken and food brought out in fairly quick order! I have been on a kick for a while now trying to find the best taco joint in the the northern Oakland county area and have to say this is as good as I have come across up to now and am a big fan of this business. If you are into well made authentic Mexican street taco's than this is a must visit for you. This was my first visit here and definately will not be my last where I will be combining this dining venue with my regular Bloomfield Hills Costco trips which is a Quarter mile from the restaurant.
