The food is absolutely great. The only reason I gave the rating of 4 stars is because they didn't have smoked items prepared when I arrived. I came an hour after opening and was told smoked items would be available later on in the day. I ordered the meatloaf with mac and cheese and greens. I also had the red velvet cake for dessert. As a consolation, I was given peach cobbler on the house, which was a nice gesture. It was good, but cold, which let me know it was made a day or two prior to given. But I will give this place another go and hope to try their bbq.

Got me fucked up. Nasty ass food. Don't ever and I mean ever sell no rib that cut up the roof of someone's mouth. Junk cut me up like Publix bread. First and last time...

    Drive Thru

Pork sandwiches and beans were great but the chicken sandwich not so great. We didn't know it was a thigh and drumstick between to pieces of bread. The chicken sandwich was not something you can eat while driving. We give it another try when we come through the area.

Carter's BBQ & Soul Food is a grab 'n go "joint" in Mulberry, one of only 2 non-chains I found open on a Saturday night. There's no inside seating, you either walk-up or drive up. It was a happening place around 6 pm. The female taking my order was not friendly and of few words. I chose pulled pork and onion rings for $7. They didn't tell me they had a combo of sandwich, fries & drink for $7.16 which was disappointing. They asked if I wanted sauce on the pork. Drooling for a nice red vinegar BBQ sauce surprise, I said "sure". It came slathered in a Carolina style mustard sauce which I guess is their "thang". I'm not a mustard girl but ate it. It had a nice kick but was too overbearing for me. The pork was sorta "blah" no smoke flavor and tasted "old". Both the onion rings and the sandwich came too hot to eat at first. The onion rings were tasty but very greasy. The list of sides was long and southern--squash, okra, greens. Sweet potato pie slice was $2. Prices were fair. The place is very southern and soul foodesque, I can see how some enjoy it. But I am not jumping to go back, for taste or friendliness reasons.

I have stopped at Carter's Barbeque a handful of times over the last few years. The Barbeque has always been tasty and the sides adequate. The restaurant caters to To-Go orders but there is some outdoor seating. On my most recent visit I had the Ribs with Macaroni & Cheese and Collard Greens. The Ribs were tender and meaty and served with a flavorful homemade mustard based BBQ sauce that complimented the meat perfectly. The sides were pretty standard. Overall, Carter's is a solid quality option for good barbeque.

Nothing like fresh brewed ice tea from a stainless steel brewing pot and the smell and taste of a over stuffed chopped pork sandwich with just the right amount of mustard base sauce wrapped in parchment butcher paper. it's a complete hole in the wall. An excellent motorcycle stop on the way to Tampa from SO FLA. As one of the indigenious patrons stated: "True Q, Polk county style- you hear"

I am so sorry I was really looking forward to a wonderful food experience however when my friend…read moreand I went in for the first time over the weekend we were not that impressed. It felt & looked like a ghost town and the food we purchased from the Asian / Thai place was not that good especially for the price. When we got the text our food was ready , we asked for napkins, and the girl told us they were available around the corner towards the bar... really? For the price we paid you couldn't give us napkins that were sitting there? We were only allowed the ones that came in the utensil wrap when a pile of extra napkins were just sitting there next to it after we spent over $35 dollars is not good customer service. The crab Rangoon tasted like it was purchased from the Costco freezer section when you want a fast hors d'oeuvre to have for an at home party. It was dry and tasted old. Actually Costco's tasted better. The Pork Bao bun not good the pork is supposed to be a little crisper, and mine was soft and barely cooked. I only ate one bite. Also ordered the dumplings. They were just decent. We also ordered a smashed burger from Fat Maggie's and asked for the works only to have received the text our burger was ready. We go up to get it and it's just the burger sitting there. I had to ask the girl to get us the works we asked for. Not sure why it wasn't all ready for us when it was a simple one burger order and they were not busy. The burger was good but with a smash burger, it's hard to get that juicy medium burger enjoyment as the burger was crispy on the outside. No fault of Maggie's that's just the trend it was still good and it was nice someone walked around asking everyone if they liked their burger. You deserve more than to be crammed at the end of the kitchens and should move to the middle into the larger space as it gave the illusion that you were not as famous as you are and that you're a tiny business when you're not. Kudos on your great tasting burger though. Now to the building, i feel bad the joinery has the lake to walk around and a great outside area for IG influencer pics back drops where you can relax and sit back with style I did not see that here at this location and since there is no lake to look at you truly need more outdoor aesthetics like a "lawn" area with outdoor games for people to hang out at or more of an amateur works greenery outdoor vibe or host, Pilates and yoga classes to draw more ppl in. It needs something. Sorry this was long it just had to be said imo anyway and my girlfriends.

Seems like it can get a little loud in the main area, but there's one room with windows that's closed off with tables and I noticed another room off to a side that seemed like it could be quieter too. We loved everything we ate. We got a smash burger, crepe, truffle fries, mac and cheese and dumplings. We loved it all!

Not that bagel-and-cereal situation we usually get over at the in-laws' den. Pulled this place up on my Yelp app and it just kind of called to me... something about The Egg Station and the railroader in me gave me a good feeling. Like it was sending a signal to a wandering cryptid in need of coffee and meat. It's a cozy little spot... reminded me of those roadside diners I used to hide out in back in the day. It was close to noon, but luckily they do breakfast all day... which speaks to my kind of schedule. There's a small parking area right out front and a grassy patch across the way that's perfect for oversized vehicles or an inconspicuous forest-dwelling footprint. We were greeted right away and told to sit wherever. I scanned the whiteboard with the specials at the entrance like I was decoding ancient cave glyphs. There were knick-knacks scattered all over... a real treasure trove of decor. We picked a spot by the seasonal holiday tree... festive without being over-the-top. Our waitress had a shirt that read something about "Throat Punch Saturday"... made us laugh and instantly set the mood. No fancy brunch tension here... just folks who know how to serve a proper plate of food without fuss. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Blitz Skillet. Two eggs... corned beef hash... peppers... onions... tomatoes... all piled high on home fries and buried under sausage gravy and cheese. It came out sizzling like it just came off a logging camp fire. It was a true breakfast mountain, the kind you climb slowly, fork by fork. The corned beef hash was tasty... though I would've liked it crispier in places. The sausage gravy was surprisingly good... not that canned paste stuff. This was the real deal. Mrs. Foot got the Meat Lovers Omelet with hashbrowns and wheat toast. That omelet looked like it could feed a small search party. She's not big on potatoes usually, but she really liked these hashbrowns. They had that all-over crunch, not just the top and bottom. No mushy middle. We both nodded in appreciation... silently acknowledging a well executed spud. Only thing that caught us off guard was the payment. We assumed you paid up front, but turns out your waitress handles everything at your table and carries it over to the counter. Not a problem, just a twist in the trail we weren't expecting. We walked out full and satisfied... no need to forage again until late evening. Definitely planning to come back and try their lunch menu next time... but for now, we know where to find a solid breakfast spot when we visit the family in Lakeland.

Service is friendly and prompt, space is open and you have easy access to everything. If you get sliced brisket, you can ask for the fatty cuts. All the bbq sauces are great.... the lobster grilled cheese is now an off menu item, but it's something that's a must. Just a warning though.... the coleslaw is at about a dessert level amount of sweet. It's popular, but not for everybody. Wish there were more places like Gaskins! It's worth the drive if you're not from the area.

Only two ounces of lobster meat. I got it with the lobster bisque, which was really tasty. My brother Jonathan got the fish & chips with a side of barbecue beans. He thought the fish was made from an inferior fish and it was a bit dry. His barbecue beans were tasty, but quite oniony. Pro tip; We sit in the cushioned seating with the pillows. There are some uncomfortable seats with no padding or pillows. There are TVs with no volume and closed captioning. Overall, it is a good place to go, but keep in mind it is on the pricey side. I'm not sure the value is always there.
