We had frequented RR several years ago and always had friendly, attentive service and the food was fantastic. However, the quality of both has severely dropped off. I ordered the wet burrito and was served something that looked like a burrito, but filled with grisly chicken pieces, no flavor and lacking any sour cream or salsa. The young lady who was our server was woefully inexperienced and clearly out of her depth in waitressing. Needless to say, we won't be going back. Food was "blah" and very overpriced. Steer clear if you're looking for a good quality meal - this isn't the place for that.

I chose River House Grill this trip since it was a beautiful night, and on the water. While getting off the interstate and heading in to town, I noticed this eerie presence, nothing was open, signs were dark, stop lights not working... I got to River House and a few regulars were still milling around the bar, I was told they were closed due to a power outage throughout the entire city. After some conversation, they said if I had cash, I could still buy a beer (always carry cash!). The regulars moved on, and I was finishing my drink when the power comes back on! The owner Mike had already sent most of his staff home, as the estimated power restoration was well beyond their normal operating hours, but he said he would turn the fryers back on, and start the pizza oven since I was there. I told him he didn't have to and I would head back to East Lansing, but he insisted, at this point I was the only one in the place! Ordered a pizza, and boy was it delish! By the time my pizza had arrived, a few others had managed to come in and fill up the place! Thanks to Mike, Jen (bartender) and the staff who stayed! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu, and see the renovations next time I'm in the area! Cheers!

We hired Advanced Landscaping to clean up our garden beds, do some weeding around the property, and…read morelay down mulch and they did a beautiful, clean job. We scheduled our appointment via their website and had a quick home consultation where we told him what we would ideally like done. I did a bit of quick math on the mulch and sent me a text shortly after with the rate for the labor and the materials. I found it to be incredibly reasonable so we decided to move forward with the job. They are booked pretty heavily so it took a couple of weeks for our appointment but they showed up and worked efficiently to finish the job neatly and thoroughly. Our garden looks amazing and they did a great job pulling all those pesky weeds in our rock beds that had been causing me grief (and back pain!) over the spring and summer. I'm so happy with how it all looks. I can't stop marveling at our very cute yard now! And my plants seem way happier now that we've got the mulch around them as well. Will definitely keep them in mind for any future jobs we may need.

Not only did the owner refuse to give us a 10 percent discount on a $2,000 purchase--a discount his manager promised us, and she was embarrassed to have to withdraw--but they packed the wrong bags of soil in our trucks. What they gave us (manure rather than soil) meant our potted flowering plants would not survive. We had to hold up the project for a good part of the morning for hundreds of volunteers. While the employees were apologetic, the owner and manager were not. We won't use them again.

This was the best wedding venue I have ever been to!…read moreThere were tractor pulled trailers that took us to the ceremony site, then took us back to where the reception was afterwards. There was a beautifully decorated building for where everyone ate and danced. Outside, there was a bar and lots of tables for people to hang out. There were outdoor games, and a petting farm area. They also have a place for a bonfire later on. The only problem I had was with the landscaping rocks around the outdoor table areas. I had on heels, as did many others, and they were SO HARD to walk on. Regular shoes would have been fine. My feet were absolutely killing me after a couple of hours. Still the best wedding venue I've ever been to!

I don't play disc golf, but I like the idea of parks just having a bunch of disc golfing places?…read morefields? greens? scattered throughout the park! Disc golf, to me, is like the putt putt of the skies, except you have to go somewhere specific for putt putt and I like that disc golf is available at this park & just generally at random parks throughout! It was super vibey seeing families playing disc golf as my friend & I hiked throughout the park. The park is beautiful and so scenic in the fall & our dogs loved crunching through the leaves! They got to take a nice water break along Grand River, which was perfect too! Also, I'm not sure if Fitzgerald Park includes The Ledges trail, but I'm including my review of The Ledges here anyways because I couldn't find a separate Yelp page for it! I love that the park is connected to the trail! The trail is beautiful and a lovely hike too! On one side of you is Grand River, on the other is a bunch of gorgeous and unique sedimentary rocks! And occasionally above you is a bridge! The trail isn't ideally wide enough for social distancing, so it's a bit difficult as people walking towards you are crossing paths. It's also a bit frustrating seeing all these people climbing on the rocks, when there's clearly a sign at both ends of the trail that says NOT to climb on them because they'll get eroded!! Other than that, it's a wonderful trail to hike, and if you start from Fitzgerald Park, you can walk to the downtown Grand Ledge area, where there's a fun little island park restored in the middle of the river that you can loop around at to head back down The Ledges trail back to Fitzgerald Park! It was a lovely afternoon hike through the park, trail, and island park all in all! :)
