Soon after purchasing our first house in Fall of 2021, we learned that the property was in worse condition than we were led to believe. Among the long list of defects were the roof, which was in dire need of replacement, gutters that were barely holding on, and the fact that our attic had zero ventilation whatsoever. With all that in mind, we solicited several estimates from various local contractors. In the end, we chose Precision because they were the only company able to offer everything we needed at a fair price. Additionally, Precision is listed on Certainteed's website as one of the few local "Select ShingleMasters" in our area, and as such, their workmanship is guaranteed by CertanTeed which was attractive to us, as was their 5-Star SureStart Warranty.
That's not to say that we didn't run into our share of troubles, however. While the office staff (namely Nichole and Ashley) are very helpful and friendly, we experienced some miscommunications with our first estimator/salesperson Ed, which nearly drove us away. Luckily, we were able to get paired with Joe instead, and from then on we were able to have our concerns addressed in a way that allowed us to finally commit to signing the contract in mid-January. The proper permits were pulled that same week.
In mid-March, work was ready to begin, however, there was a hiccup when the wrong supplies were delivered to our home. I got the impression from Dave, our project manager, that perhaps things could have been better organized, as there were a couple additional instances where the wrong materials were still brought to the jobsite, along with at least one specific instance where I was asked to give the okay on something which most certainly wasn't alright. That being said, everything was corrected in the end and we did get what we paid for. In total we received: complete roof tear-off including all existing decking, old faux chimney box removed, old satellite dish removed, and of course, all shingles removed and disposed of. We received brand new decking, new attic baffles, ice & water shield plus synthetic underlayment, aluminum drip-edge, Certainteed Landmark shingle, new edge-vents and ridge-vent, new boot pipe flashings, and our B-vent/Chimney was made to look nicer as well. Lastly, it was revealed that our home actually had no existing fascia boards on it, so we also received brand-new fascia, as well as some custom aluminum fascia wrap to protect the home and to provide a solid structure for the gutters later. Jeff, the owner, also was kind enough to answer some last-minute questions we had, which helped to set our minds at ease.
It was a LOT of work, and I think the crew did a fantastic job. Benny, his two sons, Raúl, and Rudy all worked very hard to ensure that the final product would exceed expectations, which they definitely did. The work was also completed very fast. Our entire roof took only two days, including cleanup. We did unfortunately find some new cracks in our ceiling that occurred during the installation, but I'm told this is apparently normal (?), and hopefully won't cost much for us to fix. Regarding the crew and what they managed to achieve, I can only give my highest praise.
Lastly, we did encounter a 10-day delay for the gutters and downspouts, during which we encountered heavy rains. During that time, however, we did not notice any leaking so at least we know that everything appears water-tight. The gutters were subcontracted through Sunrise Seamless, and I think Jim and Will did a great job with the installation on those.
The same can be said about our roof as a whole. As far as I can tell, everything appears to have been done spectacularly, and we couldn't be happier with the end-result. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think communication and overall organization could be improved. Truly, I think we made the right decision to use Precision Roofing Services, and I recommend them to everyone. A heartfelt "thank you" to all involved! read more
