I saw several locations of Cartel Roasting Company in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, so decided to try out their location at Desert Ridge Marketplace. They have quite a few tables for indoor seating, as well as tables outdoor that are shared with the many other food/drink businesses nearby. The iced mocha (3/5) I ordered was pretty underwhelming. I liked that it wasn't too sweet, but I'd have been better off going to a Starbucks or local coffee spot, as the drink was average at best, and a bit more expensive than other shops. Service was quick and friendly. While I'm glad to have tried a more local chain in Cartel Roasting Company, it's probably a one and done experience experience for me.

Quick and friendly service and calming atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. This cartel is located in Desert Ridge Marketplace, a great location to grab coffee and go! I got a seasonal drink the CCL, they were out of the Caramel so I substituted for lavendar and simple syrup. It was delicious and a light refreshing drink.they do have non-dairy substitutes.

Trinkets and dead plants

The coffee was fine, but the overall experience missed the mark for me. The new decor--dead/dried plants mixed with vintage trinkets--felt a little strange and out of place. The bathroom was very dirty, which made the whole place feel less cared for. Probably not somewhere I'd rush back to.

Inside the outdoor shopping mall/plaza. I was looking for a non-Starbucks afternoon pick-me-up. Especially without all the sugary options. Cartel had a variety of fresh and made to order drinks. I enjoyed the matcha latté with oat milk. I was alerted that they usually add vanilla syrup to it and was asked if I I wanted it. I was grateful they told me because I don't like vanilla or those sweeteners; I prefer bitter tasting beverages. The matcha tasted great sans vanilla or sugar. Personally I would have even tolerated more matcha powder. The drink was warm and delicious. I also tried their Everything seasoning scone which was savory and indulgent. I highly recommend it. Cartel is a great coffee place to try when you're looking for a great coffee style beverage and a light snack.

This trash can has not seen a cleanser in ages. This theme continued down the sides as well.

I am giving 1 star ONLY because the coffee tasted good. Wanted to sit in this establishment to enjoy my coffee in the AC. Instead of enjoyment I received disgust. The pictures say it all and these are literally just the few items within reach of the seat I chose. As seen in the photos, this place is not in disarray from an afternoon rush, this is complete and utter filth that has not been touched in ages. Would you want your food and drink items anywhere near this? I did glance behind the counter and was happy to see the items in immediate view were wiped down, but I can bet EVERYTHING needs a deep clean. Come on manager.... Do better! I'm grossed out.

I love Cartel coffee and try to swing by one of their Valley locations from time to time. I have been drinking their coffee since visiting their flagship location in Tempe back in their early days. This Cartel Coffee is located inside Desert Ridge Marketplace. Cartel Roasting Co. has a menu that offers everything from cold brew to signature coffee drinks to teas. They also sell canned coffee drinks. An Iced Latte has been my go-to drink lately and I was shopping at the mall and stopped in to order one. Cartel has grown from a coffee cart to multiple locations across the Valley in less than 20 years. This Cartel location is a little smaller than most of their locations and lacks the charm that most Cartel coffee shops have. But I still love their products and always appreciate the smoothness of my iced latte that I get from Cartel. Plus it is nice to support one of our local AZ coffee shops. My service from the barista was great.

Small coffee shop inside Dessert ridge shopping center. Ample parking. A lot of open space to sit and do work. Good volume of people coming in and out. Good location!

So glad I decided to risk taking another stab at this location. Ty (sp?) and Grace greeted us warmly and more than made up for previous experience. Went with a friend and ordered specialty lattes that tasted like gingerbread!

Service was quick and easy, staff is very respectful and nice. The coffee is the perfect mix of flavor and coffee (if that makes any sense). On top of that the atmosphere is very peaceful, never any yelling or annoyances and the art on the walls pulls it all together.

Parking was easy with both street and garage options available, which is always a plus. The space offers both indoor seating and a dog-friendly patio, giving it a relaxed and welcoming vibe. We ordered the Strawberry Latte and a vanilla cappuccino. Unfortunately, the Strawberry Latte was a bit disappointing since it lacked much strawberry flavor and isn't something we'd order again. The vanilla cappuccino, however, was excellent -- rich, flavorful, and served piping hot, which I personally loved. Even though one drink missed the mark, the atmosphere and the cappuccino made it worth the visit. Definitely a spot worth stopping into and trying for yourself.

The kitchen is in the middle of the shop, and with 6+ employees working there, it created a lot of noise. The matcha was okay, but pricey at $9. I also ordered the banana bread and was surprised there wasn't a banana nut option, especially for a bakery. Overall, the food and drinks were ok, but the noise level makes it unlikely I'll return when I need a place to study or have a conversation.

It has an English feel about it. Staff are very nice and welcoming. I decided to try one of their homemade blueberry muffins. The muffin had a streusel top. The inside was soft, moist and full of blueberries. We might have a new contender for best muffin around. Guess I will have to try it again to determine the winner. LOL! I helped myself to one of the containers of lemon water. Tap water is also available. I sat in the nice plaza full of pomegranate trees. It was a bit warm as the fan missed where I sat. I would definitely return and try something else. Their pastries looked very tempting. Shared parking lot.

The lavender honey latte, the cookie butter cold brew, and the red velvet latte are downright addicting. The veggie wrap is awesome, as are the scones with brie. The butternut squash omelet is also a favorite. I don't know if they make their sourdough bread there, but I've never had better. We grabbed some pastries to go this time as well, so I can't wait to try them. It gets busy but they really hustle to keep everyone happy.

It has mostly American food but I like that there are some more unique options as well (I got the pork bahn mi sandwich). They do have a great selection of drinks, including beer and wine and some from local places and some delicious made in house deserts. The food was pretty good except the onion rings which were amazing! Some of the best I've ever had. The prices were a little steep but I guess that's what you pay for convenience. My favorite part of the restaurant is the patio. It's large and surrounded by native plants. So many places around here had carpets of fake plastic grass and a couple shriveled up non-native trees. The big native trees and wildflowers made it a great place to sit and enjoy the birds and butterflies!

My kids enjoyed their hot dog and mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was not basic kids Mac and cheese... it was very good. My chicken sandwich was a good quality chicken breast, very tasty. There is lots of seating but it does fill up fast. The wall decor is so cool, with quotes from different famous musicians. My only complaint is that it wasn't the most relaxing because it was very crowded so we felt that we needed to hurry along to let others sit (but it was a rare rainy day, so there were lots of visitors and the outside patio was wet) Instagram: @msbusyblonde

It is futuristic without being cold, elegant without trying too hard. Of every LUX I have visited, this one feels the most like a hidden gem. The staff welcome you with a kindness that cannot be designed into a building. It lives in the way they remember your order, answer questions with patience, and make space for everyone at the table. As someone who is gluten and dairy free, that kind of thoughtfulness never goes unnoticed. Different milk options and a willingness to accommodate make this little café feel even more like home. The soundtrack deserves its own applause. Walking in to hear Studio Ghibli melodies drifting through the room made the whole experience feel cinematic, as if a gentle breeze from another world had slipped through the front door. My lavender latte was delicate and comforting, floral without losing the warmth of coffee. The matcha with peach syrup was equally memorable--a drink that somehow tasted like spring finding its way into a cup. My mom enjoyed her Americano and pastry, proof that sometimes the classics are all you need when they are done with care. The art covering the walls, the copper glow of the hanging lights, the soft pink chairs, and the gentle hum of conversation create an atmosphere that asks nothing from you except to slow down.
