Discover lake Tahoe tours is a great company. They offer several tours, ranging from Yosemite full…read moreday tour, a tour around the lake, a tour to Virginia City, and a tour to the wineries in and around apple hill. We were in SLT for a week and had already planned on going to apple hill, so when I saw this tour offered by our resort, I jumped all over it. They have modern luxury small buses. The seats are extremely comfortable and the ride was smooth. The driver, John, narrated the whole trip with history of the areas and photo opportunities. A picnic lunch was provided at one of the wineries, with sandwiches potatoe salad, fresh salad and a variety of beverages. If in south lake Tahoe, and you do not want to deal with the traffic and maps, try this company out. They were on time picking us up, they totally accommodated both my wife and being disabled. Will be back next year.

This review concerns a wedding transportation service that failed to follow the agreed schedule,…read moreresulting in a 40-minute delay, stranded guests, and significant disruption to the event. The driver ignored the authorized point of contact and accepted unauthorized instructions, causing confusion and missed portions of the wedding timeline. The company's response afterward did not acknowledge responsibility and instead focused on justifying the situation. If you're considering Discover Lake Tahoe Tours for a wedding or any event where timing matters, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. I hired this company for my wedding transportation and made it explicitly clear that we had a strict schedule. From the beginning, there were administrative issues that should have been a red flag. I was initially sent the wrong contract for an entirely different group, which raised concerns about their attention to detail. Then, just three days before the wedding, I received an email suggesting we move the initial pickup location away from the valet area off hotel property --making my guests walk further. The result on the day of the event was a disaster. After getting my wedding pictures taken on the way out I found Twenty-six of my guests standing waiting 35 minutes after the shuttle was supposed to have left with them. I then had to personally drive around the resort with my new bride searching for the shuttle. When I finally located the driver, he was sitting in a back parking lot playing on his phone. I was extremely frustrated at this point and did speak to him in an aggressive tone once he dropped everyone off at the reception. When I confronted him, he claimed the lady in charge had instructed him to delay the pickup. There was in fact no lady in charge. He could not and can still not give me a name of this "lady in charge". He never made any effort to contact me--the only person he had been communicating with and the only person authorized to approve any changes--to verify this instruction or confirm a schedule change. Instead, he simply acted on it without question, leaving my guests waiting and completely disregarding the agreed-upon plan. Because of this unnecessary delay, my guests didn't leave the venue for approximately 40 minutes after they were supposed to. We missed our cocktail hour, paid our DJ $350 per hour to perform in an empty room, delayed approximately $5,000 worth of food, and created unnecessary stress and confusion on what should have been one of the most important days of our lives. What made the experience even worse was the company's response afterward. Instead of taking responsibility, I was told that this was a "brand new bus," which has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the driver ignored the agreed-upon schedule and accepted directions from someone who had no authority to change it. I was also told that he could have charged me an additional $100 because the service exceeded the two-hour booking. The only reason it exceeded two hours was because of the driver's own mishandling of the schedule. To top it off, they complained that they usually receive additional tips--even though I had already been required to prepay a mandatory $100 gratuity. As the customer who paid $800 for this 2 hour service, I expected professionalism, communication, and adherence to the timeline we agreed upon. Instead, I spent part of my wedding day searching for my own shuttle while my guests waited. The lack of accountability was every bit as disappointing as the original mistake. Rather than apologizing and making things right, the company chose to make excuses and imply that I should have been grateful they didn't charge me even more. I cannot recommend Discover Lake Tahoe Tours to anyone planning a wedding or other event where reliability, communication, and professionalism are essential.

My friends and I used this bus/van service on New Year's Eve for scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs…read moreso we could enjoy partying without having to drive or rely on the scarcity of cabs in South Lake. Steve, the owner, was the nicest guy to deal with and gave us fair pricing for that night, instead of ripping us off like a lot of cabs/transportation companies do just because it's NYE. The driver was very friendly and engaging and even helped make our short trips more fun, as well as being early for our pick up times. At the end of our night, while hundreds of drunk people were begging for rides and waiting in the freezing cold outside the casinos, we had a nice, warm van there to take us home! I highly recommend reserving a van or bus in advance like we did, especially on any big night. Also, I can't help but note that some of the other negative reviewers sound awfully whiny and immature. My interactions with this company have all been very positive, and I've heard the same from several of my friends. We will definitely book them again!

2 of 2 Reviews as CC has two Yelp listings…read more Quality/Quantity - #1 reason we come here is because the prices are cheaper than Reno! Especially Costco Gas prices. Sometimes the merchandise/sales are different and cheaper here than both the Reno and Sparks locations. And let's not talk about the CA prices... Plus, we like to support locals. We are slowly visiting all the local breweries, restaurants, etc. in this city. Cut and pasted from the internet: "The city is named after the mountain man Kit Carson (1809-1868)." "The Washoe people have inhabited the valley and surrounding areas for about 6,000 years." Capital of NV. See my other Yelp reviews. I feel this is what/how Reno was 40 years ago. Wait, am I implying I'm old...? LOL. A nice small town vibe. Things to do in CC: State capital. Governor's mansion. Museums. Open lands - Trails (Kit Carson Trail), water falls, dam, parks, disc golf course, casinos, hot springs, and of course for me, breweries; etc. Atmosphere - 157+ square miles, 12.6 of it is water. Elevation 4682. Population 58k+. Service - Overall good. More of a small town feeling. Just double checked and so far the only 3 star restaurant review was for Burger King, do I need to say more?!?! Price - Still affordable, less expensive than Reno and Sparks. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1858. I enjoy visiting more and more. After we are done exploring, what next? Genoa.

I went here today, Monday, May 6, 2019. It is on the first floor of an office building, with the…read moreentrance facing North Carson Street. Parking is right on the south side of the building. You must enter from North Carson street, as the parking lot is one way, and exits on North Curry Street. (Google Maps GPS directs you to West Washington Street, where there is no parking; don't listen to it). There were two parking spaces open when I came about 3 PM, plus two handicapped spaces. When I left though, there was only the one handicapped spot. It probably will get worse on a day the Nevada State Museum across the parking lot is open. You can probably find parking around North Curry Street though. This location is run by the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City, and this department runs Nevada Day each year. Their other job is to be a resource for visitors to the city. They differ from the Carson City Chamber of Commerce (which is a private business) in that the latter focuses on businesses and new residents of the city, though they also have a lot of things for visitors too. Being a branch of Carson City, this office has free wifi. The office is basically a store, with some free information for visitors, such as brochures. They also give away free Nevada Route 50 (The Loneliest Road in America) passports here (and stamp them), as well as free Carson City stickers. Among the items for sell are various commemorative coins, books, t-shirts, sweatshirts, baby clothes, hats, key chains, pins, magazines, flags, kitchen ware, jewelry, postcards, cards, and wooden magnets. Some of the items were expensive, like the 2018 limited edition Nevada Day coin (only 200 made) for $15, while others were more reasonable, like three postcards for $1 I believe. There is a nice sitting area in the middle, a swell as free coffee and hot chocolate for visitors. Beware: there were ants all around the coffee area and near the cash register. They were attracted by the sugar. I had to be careful not to set my hot chocolate down near them. The employee told me they have called an exterminator. She also wiped up the ants which I showed her (that is a never-ending task, as there are thousands of them in the colony, and they leave pheromones marking the trail to the food source). I saw at least four different employees in offices, and a conference room in the back. I picked up by Nevada Highway 50 passport, and the employee stamped it in four places. I was giddy about that. She knew her job well, and knew exactly how and where to stamp so it didn't blur and was upright. I also asked where the stop was for the tourist train which goes to Virginia City. The employee gladly got me a map and brochure showing me where it was (hint: it is not qt the Nevada State Railroad Museum on South Carson Street). The employee who attended to me was very professional and helpful. In my 30 minutes here, I saw a father and son come in who were tourists. It should begin to pick up after Memorial Day. I was very happy with my trip here and will come again to get other Nevada tourism information.
