Wow! Where do I start? I started at the gym with private coaching because of knee pain. Kelly as my trainer was excellent. I moved into classes with Jake coaching most of them. He does an amazing job and is so upbeat and fun! I'm thankful for all the help I've received with Leif & Delaney who encourage and help me along the way with nutrition and goals. Music so loud I was "literally" expecting hearing loss. I am new guy that has never been in CrossFit gym. 1st two classes went fine. Great instructors and easy to understand and follow instructions. Then I got a class with Lief and his instruction were so convoluted, I did not understand anything he said. When we started exercise, he still talked in circles. The worst part is, I ask to not be yelled at. So I think he turn music up ALL the way to be a Dick! Nice! I went there to learn, I can't learn if I can't hear instructions. I've been attending classes at Carson City Crossfit (CCCF) for about 7 years now and it has changed my life. I came to Crossfit from years of marathon running, which I could no longer do on account of a knee injury. I never thought I'd be the type of person who'd enjoy working out in a group environment, but Jill and Lief welcomed me into their gym (and the crossfit family) and for the past 7 years have helped me develop a level of strength and fitness that I didn't really think I could achieve. Going to the gym is one of the best parts of my day, where I get to hang out/work out with my friends and unwind from work. I've traveled all over the world and have visited several really great crossfit gyms but, in my opinion, CCCF provides a sense of welcoming, fun, and encouragement that is hard to achieve. Best gym ever. I started 5 years ago and it's the only fitness program I've ever stuck with. Lief (owner) is super thorough, patient and professional in his programming and coaching. Lots of class times to choose from and so many awesome coaches. I really enjoy working out with such a great group of people. I started Crossfit just over a month ago. I have never been athletic, dont like running, and the idea of going to the gym and lifting weights while dealing with the whole gym scene sounds awful. Seriously, awful. BUT I figured that now was the time to get in shape so I tried (and failed) to force myself to go to the gym. When that didnt work I hired a personal trainer, which was helpful when we were together, but on the days I didnt have training scheduled I felt like I still had no idea what to do/how to do it. A lot of my friends in other cities have been talking about crossfit and I decided I would look into it. The price was intimidating, but it really wasnt much more than paying for a trainer I saw once a week. I decided to give it a month to see what I thought, and if I didnt like it I would just resign to being out of shape forever. So now I'm a month in, and I couldnt be happier that I decided to give it a try. The way it works is that you go to an hour long session on the day you want to work out-I usually start at 430pm, 530pm, or 630pm. There is an intro workout to warm you up/stretch you out, then you take some time preparing for the main workout. The main workout is generally a variation on a few key moves that you learn the first week with a bunch of twists thrown in to keep it interesting. I was really intimidated at first to see the workouts, but they scale the difficulty to those just starting/those who are out of shape. Im finally getting to the point where I am doing the weight someone my size should be doing, a lot of it was practicing getting the moves down correctly. The trainers (coaches?) help you through the workout and are all super helpful. Usually there are one or two bumming around even when they arent leading the class and if they see you need help they will come over. Everyone else working out there is super encouraging too. People arent there to see and be seen like at a gym, they just want to get in better shape. Yesterday I was dying after a run (legit the worst pain I have ever felt while working out) and those who had already finished their workout came outside to help me finish. Going to crossfit 3-4 times a week has become part of my routine, I look forward to going, and so far I havent made any excuses not to go the way I would about the gym. My overall fitness has really improved and I'm starting to see changes in my body. I'd post a before and after but that would probably be super awkward. ANYWAYS it might not be the right thing for everyone, but for someone like me who hates the gym dudebros grunting and girls on the treadmill in ridic outfits reading people magazine, its the perfect program to get me up, moving, and improving my body (although, full disclosure, I did high five someone yesterday and say GOOD WORKOUT BRO. I went to Carson City CrossFit like 4 months ago, but knew I needed to write a positive review! I was in Carson City for work, and this was the first gym I've visited outside of my normal gym down in Las Vegas. I missed the last WOD of the evening, but they welcomed me to join the oly class which was just starting. They were very attentive even though they knew I was from out of town and of course wouldn't be joining their gym. Class went great, and when it was over I had $20 cash to give to them for dropping in. I'm sorry I forgot the coach's name, but he told me not to worry about it. He refused to take my money even though I kept insisting. He explained to me that crossfit is all about the community and he was happy to help me with my lifts. This is a prime example of why I love to crossfit, and why I love the crossfit community. If anyone is in Carson City, make sure to drop in! You won't regret it or forget the experience! read more

You never feel intimidated because every workout can be scaled for your level of experience and fitness level. I am about three week into my cross fit adventure with Carson City Cross Fit (CCCF). Although, my wife is three years in, I held back due to the price. BIG mistake on my part. CCCF is well worth the money. It is not like any other "gym" I have ever been to. CCCF is such a family, literally everyone is happy to help you with everything. all lifts and moments can and WILL be PROPERLY adjusted for you. Everyone makes you feel comfortable and it's super encouraging to work out with a group cheering for you and pushing you to do you best. The coaches and Owners are amazing and seriously know the SH*T! What ever your personal goal is, weight loss, strength, big or small, CCCF is absolutely the place for you. It's clean, lots of modern equipment, plenty of room for the classes, and fun!!!
