Justin, Ray Ray, and Mike are the best! The drink prices are reasonable, and they have coffee from Los Gatos Roasting Company. It's nice to be able to hang out and get work done in a brightly lit place, where the bartenders are kind, and no one cares if you get a coffee and jump on the wifi. Some people go to coffee shops, I like being able to chat and hang out with friends while getting computer work done. I'm a long-term patron of @Carry_Nations. @Carrys is the best place in @Los_ Gatos to socialize, watch games, and unwind. The bartenders are the best in the town including @TiffanyA, @Ray, and @Justin. They look after their patrons, don't over-serve them, and when a patron does get a little well done they cut them off and, if necessary, help them arrange a ride-share or alternative way to get home. Makes good business sense. They don't want patrons to wind up in jail, or worse, because it will hurt @Carry's income and reputation. Plus the staff are good, responsible people. The owners, @Tim and @Keith, care about the establishment. They hire the best staff in Los Gatos, back them up when necessary, and have their backs That's why I'm saddened to see the recent review from a NEW Yelp member Donna M, aka @Margi, who felt it necessary to post an unflattering review about "T" here on Yelp. "Donna M," wrote this review after spending 6 hours @Carrys inhaling 5+ drinks. When she was well done, T cut her off and offered to get her an Uber, and even offered to drive her home. Donna M responded to T's offers by hitting T, which resulted in a police call. Donna M needs to get her facts straight. That's probably hard for her. Net, Donna M is incapable of saying "thank you" for a gracious offer of assistance. Even a simple, I'm sorry I made a mistake, would be okay. @Carrys is THE place to visit when in Los Gatos. It's a low-key casual bar with no pretensions, low prices and healthy pours that you don't see in this area typically. What's not to like! I was there with a friend and it was awesome to be able to just chat and enjoy a drink without loud music drowning out your voice. The staff was friendly. As I was waiting for my girlfriend to finish getting her hair done at the nearby salon, I decided to hit up one of the local places for a nice cocktail hour. While on the one hand it was refreshing to find a place where someone's conversation could flow without the need to shout above the noise, the lack of a decent size crowd caught me a little by surprise for a "hoity toity" place such as Los Gatos, CA and on a Thursday night. I live across the street from Carry's and this is my local watering hole. I have never had a bad experience and I am really sad to see this anonymous review from a patron who clearly has a personal issue with the bartender. This is by far the best bar to visit during the day with unlimited WiFi, great conversation, and plenty of open seating. This can be your office away from the office. read more

I wasn't going to write a review because I thought an experience we had here a few weeks ago was just a fluke. Well we went back again and the same thing happened. The first time we visited Carry Nations the bartender asked us what we wanted then proceeded to have a chugging contest with one of the other patrons. She asked us a second time then had another chug. Once done with that chug she disappeared down stairs somewhere for quite a while. When she resurfaced she asked us again what we wanted. I didn't realize two glasses of wine were so hard to remember. We walked out. Her name starts with a T and she was annihilated almost falling down shit-faced drunk. Fast forward to the other day the same thing happened. The chugging, the complete annihilation, the can't remember what your customer wants, etc. We walked out again. To the Carry Nations owner: the representation of your establishment is grotesque. I hope she's not drinking your profit or better yet I hope you are Ubering her home. I would hate to see you lose everything for one stupid drunk. read more

This place has been around forever, and yeah, it shows, even down to their old-fashioned cash register, but it is really cool, actually. Service is top-notch and I just love the bartenders here. They give you generous pours. It's my go-to place for a glass of Cab, (which at $10 is a huge bargain!) Alexander Valley is my favorite. The youngish guy is super friendly and even knows his literature so that is a huge plus, me being an English major and grad school library nerd! read more

Echoing some reviews about a decline for this Los Gatos institution. Worse, what a lost opportunity to offer great service and drinks while keeping the dark wood bar and long standing relaxed atmosphere. The unwelcoming bartender was telling. She did her best to ignore us while chatting with the only other guy at the bar, and slowly washing glasses. Finally we asked for a beer and wine list which was dirty and crumpled. Then we were ignored again, and we left. An old school bar atmosphere (with so much history) married with current standards for service and creative drink menus (along with the basics) is one of my favorite bar-type choices. For me, Carry Nations has lost its way. Pretty close to John Tapper-Bar Rescue material. We went down to Lexington House and had attentive service and good happy hour values. read more

I had a really unpleasant experience here on Wednesday August 14, 2019 at around 7 or 8 pm. Myself and a couple girl friends entered the bar fully prepared to buy drinks. We opted for the tables instead of the bar, and set our stuff down, continuing a conversation we were having outside before going up to the bar to order our drinks. Before we had the chance to do so, however, the bartender comes up to us and in a very rude and accusatory tone, says "you have to be 21 to be here." Okay. No problem. My friend calmly informs him that we are indeed of age as we pull out our IDs. He scoffs and says "well that's not enough I still need to see your IDs." Upon taking a look at my friend's, he laughs, and says "oh you're barely 21...that's funny..." and walks away. After this exchange, we left without making a purchase. Let me be clear: it was absolutely this bartender's job to card all of us. I'd expect nothing less. What I didn't appreciate was his patronizing tone and belittling words. It made us feel unwelcome and like we were lesser than for being younger customers. His behavior was unprofessional and unnecessary. Honestly, I can't imagine the DTLG bar scene attracts the younger drinking age crowd and this experience will absolutely deter me from coming back here in the future. Wow this bar is very exquisite, it a simple dive bar with the he best seating area. Our bartender was a Latino man and with a lot of tattoos, I think his name was Robert or Jose. Don't remember unfortunately. He was very energetic and took his time to explain to me all the spirits they had listed.
