Everyone in this office is friendly and attentive when you have questions. I haven't been able to meet the vet face to face because of Covid, but she was very informative on the phone and easy to talk to when I spoke with her. This is my first puppy in over 20 years so I have lots of questions. I have also taken my cat here for the past 6 years. One day she seemed to have a reaction to a vaccine and when I called them and explained, they had me bring her back to check her out and make sure she was ok even though they were closing soon. I find their prices reasonable compared to many other vet offices around Westminster. I have recommended them to many friends and they also have nothing but good things to say. read more

I wish I could leave less than one star. I'm not one for leaving reviews, especially bad ones. I brought my cat in for dental surgery. During her consultation the week before I was told that she possibly needed one tooth pulled, but they would not pull it unless absolutely necessary. Had to drop her off at 8 AM, called to check on her at 12:50 PM. Was told she was in surgery and doing fine. got a callback from the Vet around 2:45 PM letting me know that she had a fractured jaw. when I got there, I paid and they handed me my cat in the carrier and we insisted to speak to the vet. It turns out they say they saw the jaw fracture in the pre-surgery x-ray. If so, why wasn't I told about it? Even if they didn't notify me, I took it upon myself to call to check on her. Especially before they pulled 9 teeth out of her mouth? we waited and finally got to talk to the vet. She told me that my cat must have done this injury at home. I felt under her jaw and it is a very noticeable injury(her favorite place for rubs is under her chin, so I definitely would have noticed or felt it) It is now swollen at least three times It's original size. I had to ask the vet about when to give her her medication, how and when to feed her and any infection signs to look for because they did not tell me any of that. I will pay anything for the cost of care for my pet, but I am completely heartbroken at the pain she is going through now. Accidents happen, but it would have been nice if they would have admitted that this was done while my baby was in their care!! there is no way this injury had already happened before I brought her in that morning. I Brought My Dog In Here Last Thursday Night with active seizures There was one person in the waiting area with a cat They gave me a piece of paper with other Emergency care vets That were very far away Then told me they were only open until 1:a.m. and couldn't see him I had to wait until my vet could see him the next morning!! As a result I lost my dog!! as a purely honest review, i used to really enjoy bringing my 8 year old husky mix here for routine care, as well as emergency visits. Now my husky has an autoimmune condition called lupoid onchyodystrophy. this means her nails grow separated from the quik and are extremely weak and brittle. this last issue, she snapped a nail at the base by jumping off the bed. a few examples that have made me distrustful and unhappy with the care that is provided by this clinic include but are not limited to: my dog was sedated in order to dremmel her nails, which was great except she was given back to me unable to walk. i myself am disabled and was not able to carry my 65lb dog BY MYSELF into my home. also, everytime she was there and needed picked up i had to call to see if she was ready, and every time it was almost near close as if they tried to have her overnight. another issue, was i inquired about having my pembroke welsh corgi, at a weight of 33lbs in for a neuter. for this i was told it would be 950 dollars. i took him else where and paid less than 200, got disolvable stitches and he healed quickly and wonderfully. next, and the most infuriating. for the last 6-7 years dr. wimmer gave us one treatment to try which we did to no avail, which thats okay things like that happen. thats not the issue. every visit after i asked repeatedly if there was anything to try, new treatments etc. and was explicitly told no by dr. wimmer. since then i have taken abby to a new vet here in hanover for this most recent issue, and was ecstatic with the care, not only did they sedate her and give her to me able to walk, called me in a timely manner, they even offered THREE treatment options and explained in detail. and we have since begun treatment and abby is doing so much better. in my opinion dr. wimmer is only in it for the monwy and does not truly care for the animals in her care. she let my girl suffer rather than research and offer care, that was offered immediately elsewhere read more

Do not go to this place. If they mention dental run do not walk out of the place. They will pull your dogs teeth and the vet said he didn't need them anyway. It's like a used car dealership trying to sell you stuff. It's all about the money and the vet sends her minions in to do her work. She isn't interested in your pet. I have performance dogs so I am knowledgeable about dog issues. I feel sorry for pet dog people who are not aware of what to do and go to this place. Once again stay clear of this place. The worst veterinary office ever. They killed my poor puppy, Harley. We had taken him there several times before he died, they told us he had pancreatitis. They would keep him overnight for one night then send him home-this went on a few times. According to other vets he should have been kept for about a week on an IV, NPO. They fed him further destroying him. He was too young to die. I miss my poor baby everyday, and do not understand how this vet remains open. Please do not take your fur babies to this terrible vet office. PLEASE. The pain of losing a pet is unbearable especially when you could have had 5 or more years left with your baby. read more

Since moving to Carroll County in 2011 from central Pennsylvania, we have had 5 rescue animals as patients at CCTC. We live in Eldersburg (where there are some good vet clinics), but travel to Westminster because of the care and concern they give our animals. The staff is friendly, responsive and consistently follow up after a procedure or with results of blood work. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic. read more

My mom had to put down her beloved dog yesterday. She has been taking him to this practice for awhile now. Mom knew it was time and called the practice to ask what the charge would be for the vet to come to her house. She was told there was no charge. The vet came (Dr. Wimmer), charged her $75 gas fee. Really??? Then proceeds to inject the meds into Toby's sore paw AND DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH MEDICINE!!! This made a very painful experience horrid as my mom had to listen to her beloved Toby cry in pain until he was gone. There is no excuse for my mother or Toby to have been treated in such a manner. I absolutely love this vet! I have been going here for over 5 years now and they have always treated my dog with the upmost respect. They have always been so kind and answered any concerns I have had. My dog even loves going there and giving everyone kisses. He even had to have surgery to remove calcium stones and when I feared the worst they assured me he would be ok. He came out better than ever and I had everything I needed to help him heal. I am sad to lose this vet when we relocate to VA. So hard to find a good place. read more

First, they scheduled my appointment for the wrong day. They told me one date and when I showed up, they told me the appointment was for a week later. My dog was in desperate need of a prescription refill and they refused to fill it until they saw him and did not want to make room for him that day. I told them how badly he needed the prescription and they made room to see him that day. Not only were they not happy about it but they treated me very poorly the entire visit. Not one other customer came in the entire time. They had plenty of time to see my dog. Then the next time I needed to get my dogs prescription refilled, I chose to go with Chewy because it was significantly cheaper. The vet called to charge me to have the prescription sent and then they didn't even send it! Chewy tried to contact them multiple times and could never get through. When I called to ask why they charged me but never sent the prescription, they lied to me and said they sent it but would send it again. I called Chewy back immediately and they had just received the prescription seconds before I called. Because they lied and waited to send it, my dog ran out of his medication, which they knew he would. They let my dog run out so that I would have to buy the prescription from them. This place is dirty! They DO NOT care about you or your pets! They just want your money! Find a vet that cares about the animals not about how much money they can make off of you. read more

I took my litter of puppies here & will never make that mistake again. I called & set up an appointment to have my litter of puppies vet checked & vaccinated I also confirmed that they can do health certificates that would be needed when the puppy would be taking a flight. After arriving & waiting in the exam room I was then informed that a health cert. puppy check would cost more then the cost I was given when I booked the appointment. The vet. assistance were all very friendly but the vet did not have a friendly attitude & did not seem to show any interest. After having my puppies checked & shots given I was told they did not have any health record booklets. All of the puppies vaccination stickers was stuck to a piece of paper together with the name of the puppy written by the sticker & photo copied. All of the health information for the puppies was printed together also. I could not give the new puppy owner their individual records. It looked awful & very unprofessional! This was not even the worst as bad as it is. I took my puppy to the airport so she could be put on the flight she was scheduled for & was informed that the paper work health cert. was not a health cert. that is accepted because in fact it is not a health cert. that vets are supposed to give when a puppy needs to fly. I called the vet office & told them I need the health cert & at first was told they never saw my puppy. After finally checking again they said they did have her info & would fax the cert. over. They faxed the same paper over! At this point the airline called the vet & told them that this was not a health cert. & they have never had an issue with a vet office not knowing what was needed for the airline. They faxed the same paper over but now typed "Health Cert" at the top of the paper. I almost missed the flight & was very upset! They have lost more then one customer after everyone saw the way this office worked. Very Very disappointed!!! read more

I only took my dog Luna here to be spayed because the Humane Society had set it up before I adopted her and the procedure was already included in my adoption fee. I wish I would've taken her to the Westminster Vets Office and just paid for the procedure myself, because I feel like nothing was done with care. Carroll County Vet didn't even give me an E collar after my dogs spay. They didn't provide me with pain meds, so when Luna started whimpering and shaking the next day, I had to get a prescription filled by Westminster Vet because Carroll County Vet said they couldn't give me any. The SCARIEST part is that they didn't even fully stitch Luna back together! So when she came home, she was still bleeding and leaving little puddles of blood on my floor! So I called Carroll County Vets Office and they said this was normal. Later, I found out it was not, because eventually I could see right through Luna's first layer of skin and ended up rushing her to the ER at midnight. They put in 2 staples to finally close the incision. Plus, I had to buy an antibiotic bc the wound was never fully closed. And the ER finally provided me with an E collar. (All things Carroll County Vet should have done in the FIRST PLACE!) I am so angry with them, I will never go back. I would like to have them pay my ER bill, but I'd rather just put the whole thing behind me and not have to deal with them anymore. read more

I've had pets all my life and never experienced anything like this. The veterinarian was rude, she spoke under her breath, and seemed annoyed by my pet related questions. It was recommended that our elderly dog have sugery even though it was clear she was not going to recover well. My cat was misdiagnosed; I have an 18 year old cat who up until a couple weeks before this appointment was very content. During the visit I was told she has dibeties, thyroid disease, a heart mermer, 2 absent teeth ect. The medication prescribed for an on going ear infection was the same medication I informed the vet did not work when she had prescribed it before. I was never called with the bloodwork results. When I called about the results I was told by the tech it was my fault, as a cell phone user, that I did not get the call and message they left earlier that day. The results were that I had a perfectly healthy cat with a UTI. It was after this I made an appointment with another veterinarian clinic and was informed of some of the other misdiagnosis. read more

My dog had major surgery there, and they don't even have round the clock care for their patients. The day of my dog's surgery I was told that they leave at 6pm and no one is there until 7am the next morning. So my dog had to be transferred to the emergency clinic. My dog was so unstable and her blood pressure was so low that if she had been left at CCVC overnight, she would have died. All week I have had to pick up my dog in the morning from the ER and transfer her back to CCVC and then transfer her back to the ER at night. What kind of hospital performs major surgery on an animal and then thinks it is ok to leave them alone overnight? A hospital should take responsibility for their patients. The fact that they don't, tells me that they are too lazy or just don't care. It seems the main thing they care about is the money and going home at 6pm. The surgery cost almost $1400, and so far the cost of having her cared for at the ER each night has exceeded the surgery cost. And I'm not thrilled with the level of care either. My dog was sent home tonight without any additional pain medication. She was crying in pain which meant she had to go back to the ER again. I would never take my dog to CCVC for surgery ever again!!! Their lack of responsibility has made me so frustrated, disgusted, stressed out, exhausted, and just plain angry. And my poor dog has had to suffer more than she should being transferred back and forth. Shame on you CCVC!!!!!!! read more
