This is a free, public, K-12 charter school founded by and for homeschool families. It is ideal…read morefor students who want to "own" their own education, not just jump through the hoops. Many of the high school students take the CHSPE exam and graduate early. Many of the high school students also take one or more classes at COS or Porterville College. Families are assigned an "education coordinator" who meets with them monthly, documents progress, and helps design a program of study that fits the student. There are also enrichment classes on campus. Check out the school's web page at www.erclc.org. I'm leaving the rating blank. It's great for some students and doesn't work for others. (Woops! It won't let me leave it blank. I'm giving it a 4, indicating my own approval, but whether it is right for you is something you will have to figure out for yourselves.) If you need lots of structure and someone telling you every move to make, this school is not for you. If you want more out of education and your current school isn't working for you, this is an option that may have just what you're looking for. [As a matter of full disclosure, I am an education coordinator at ERCLC.]

This class was actually enjoyable and time flew by. I learned so much from Trevor, who was the instructor and the owner. He used his 23 years of experience to keep things simple and easy to remember. This is the class to take and the price is very reasonable compared to others. I will definitely be coming back when it's time to renew again!

However, I would not recommend this school to those utilizing veterans benefits that require more assistance like VR&E. The veteran's staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. I was belittled every time I reached out for help at their office. A staff member from another office also noted that they were being extremely unprofessional in their treatment towards me. A report was filled and unfortunately nothing was done about it.

I have worked at TCOE for almost 15 years now and never did I think it would turn into the horror…read moreshow it has become. TCOE was once a place of employment to envy but now has degraded so much in the past few years that employee turn around is at an all-time high. Morale is extremely low, leadership cannot be trusted, and everyone here (except the administration) is aware the ship is sinking. So, what happened? Fernie Marroquin happened. One person is all it took to demolish the sturdy foundation TCOE was built upon. Fernie is an assistant superintendent and in charge of the Business Division at TCOE, yet possesses no formal education in business nor finance. He has cut many jobs, to include half of the IT department and ERS, he has lost numerous programs hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant money, and he continues to withhold vital information from Tim Hire, the superintendent. Fernie is driven by his narcissistic ego which prevents him from taking advice any employee below his pay-grade as well as admitting to any of his mistakes. Fernie has single-handedly crushed the pride and comradery we TCOE employees used to have and instead has instilled the fear of being fired or laid-off if anyone speaks against his decisions. Sadly, this is not the first incident of this scenario as he was a defendant in a lawsuit at a previous employment where he was charged with retaliation when an employee spoke up, yet here he is, the right-hand man to the superintendent of the Tulare County Office of Education. I represent one of many employees at TCOE who no longer wants to sit back and do nothing while our beloved TCOE crumbles to the ground. We will not let this continue behind closed doors while emails to the school districts paint a picture of roses and balloons at TCOE. Enough is enough. We will no longer be silenced, Fernie.
