Amazing Alterations - The after! So so nicely done!

Amazing Alterations

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this alterations shop, especially considering I…read morewas referred here by the bridal shop where I purchased my wedding dress. My second appointment with Brenda was honestly one of the most frustrating experiences I had throughout my wedding planning. I waited about 15 minutes while she ate, and then she left me for another 10 minutes to look at an email. When I brought up sleeves for my dress, which we had already discussed during my first appointment, she became visibly upset. She threw scissors across the room and told me I was being "difficult." After spending another 10 minutes looking for sleeves, she brought out beautiful glittery lace sleeves. The problem was that my wedding dress had no glitter whatsoever, so they obviously did not coordinate with my dress. When I politely rejected them, she told me I was "hard to impress" and that it would be difficult to find something that would work. A few minutes later, she brought out lace material instead. She then told me that if I went through with the sleeves, I would probably eventually have to cut them off because they were likely to rip. Needless to say, this was extremely concerning to hear about something being altered onto my wedding dress. At my third appointment, I worked with Sarah instead, and she was absolutely lovely. She was kind, patient, and explained everything to me without making me feel like I was being difficult. She was actually surprised when I told her I had been told I would eventually have to cut the sleeves off and assured me that shouldn't be the case. Unfortunately, even though Sarah was wonderful, I still left with an unfinished dress. There were safety pins left in my wedding dress that I didn't notice until I put it on. My photographer had even taken photos of the dress hanging, and you can clearly see the safety pins in the dress. When I removed the pins, a significant amount of loose fabric came off. The extra fabric had never been properly removed. My bridesmaids and maid of honor ended up having to cut off a large amount of excess fabric themselves right before I was supposed to be taking photos with my photographer. After paying nearly $1,000 for alterations, I never expected to have to finish my wedding dress myself on my wedding day. I called the shop afterward to see if there was anything they could do to compensate me for the situation. I only received a voicemail saying they would speak with the last person who had worked on my dress. I have yet to hear anything back. The most disappointing part is learning that Brenda is an owner of the business. I believe she knows what she is doing when it comes to alterations, but her customer service and the way she treated me were completely unacceptable. Being called "difficult" and "hard to impress," having scissors thrown across the room, and ultimately leaving me with an unfinished dress is not how a bride should be treated--especially when she has paid nearly $1,000 for the service. Sarah was kind and professional, and I truly appreciate how she treated me. Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by my experience with Brenda and the fact that my dress was not finished properly. I was so excited to have my wedding dress altered and ready for my wedding day, and instead, this added unnecessary stress to an already emotional and important time. Because of this experience, I will not be returning to or recommending this business.

I'm hoping I can spare some other brides the stress and expense! Experience: My seamstress left me during the last appointment and I had to finish with a different person with no notice. We ended up being there for many hours and were not sent away for drinks and food like they said they'd do initially. I felt like the new seamstress did not understand my goals for the final alterations that needed to happen - understandably, she had not been involved. I got the distinct impression we were taking too much of their time asking for adjustments to the fit and felt very rushed. It was not a pleasant start to the wedding week. I will say in the lead up to the wedding the front desk staff were very helpful with scheduling. Product: This is ultimately my biggest complaint and the main reason I would caution other brides. My final dress had some quirks that I - a layperson with no background in sewing - noticed. For instance, I had a bejeweled belt they attached around the waist. The jewels only went partway around, and I understood this meant there would be a section at the back with no belt. Totally fine. But once I got it home I realized the belt wasn't even centered on the back, so it looked odd (photo included here). In the same vein, I had detachable sleeves on the gown and they sewed them in without consulting me. I was hoping to wear the sleeves during the ceremony then remove them for the reception/dancing. Neither of these were critical issues, however in hindsight it seems clear to me that these issues should've been a red flag about their lack of attention to detail. The final dress was ill fitting in the bust, and I ended up with bruising on my ribs at the end of the night (and still have the marks nearly a year later ). Most damning is that my sister-in-law works as a wedding dress alterer herself (not local), and on the day of the wedding she was steaming the dress and assumed it was a sample gown because of how worn the fabric was and how torn up the seams were. Mine was a brand new dress. She recommended I leave a review mentioning the torn seams and hem. She was also shocked at the price for the product I got. She very helpfully was able to fix the belt quickly (and also helped me cut off the sleeves after the ceremony!) While I felt beautiful on my wedding day and I think the flaws were probably unnoticed by most people without training in sewing, ultimately the craftsmanship was lacking and the price was much too high for that quality. While I am glad to read some other reviews where the brides were satisfied, ultimately the alterations were the biggest regret I have looking back at my wedding. It was expensive, unpleasant, and didnt turn out a high quality product. I was very unsatisfied and would encourage other brides to look elsewhere!

I love how everything is color coded and wish more stores would organize like this. Every employee I encountered was very friendly and helpful. I did notice that they were diligently interactive with me after I picked up a $100 blouse- as they should be on a busy Saturday! But I really appreciated the small talk and direction from Randie, who gave me the brief on where to find everything, and the brief on the sister store Nextdoor. This store is a bit out of my way, but now knowing what they carry I definitely see myself returning here when I am feeling like I want to treat myself. As I am someone who prides in ensuring clothes don't go to landfill and trying to reuse or recycle as much as I can (I shop thrift a lot) I was very pleased to see that they take overflow items from designers. My only bummers were when I got home, the nice gentleman at the register unfortunately left one of the security tags on a sweater, leaving me to figure out how to break it off. It happens, but gosh dang! And then the same sweater had a bit of a small but obvious stain on it. And while I know it's already deeply discounted, it wasn't in the clearance section. So when I asked if they might consider anything additional on the top, he kindly explained how the store handles stuff like this and that basically there is a waiting period of it doesn't sell. Odd, but I'm sure it helps them profit, so I understand. Overall, I'll be back! What a great local spot!

First off if you're looking to rent a tux here you need to make an appointment. Don't expect to just show up. I did make an appointment for my son but a few days later received an email saying it was cancelled. When I called to inquire no one could really give me a reason why that happened so I booked another appointment online. At the scheduled appointment the women certainly took her time. It took over an hour to get the correct fitting and try things on. It seems the process could have gone quicker but overall my son ended up with a suit and fit that looked great on him. They told us the suit would arrive 2 weeks before the wedding and it arrived ahead of schedule. You have 48 hours to make any changes so try the suit on as soon as you get it. The pants were too long but Black Tux reimburses you for alterations. Just save your receipt and the box it shipped in so you can send it back after the event.

Utterly useless!…read more Groomsmen suits came in SUPER baggy, Bow ties were comically large, one of my groomsmen paid for shoes and didn't get shoes... My (Groom) tuxedo came in super baggy! The only component that was useable was the pants! Shirt was insanely baggy, jacket? Also insanely baggy... in talking ridiculous in size. You would've thought I was 6'5 just by seeing the jacket. I brought it to my local store and they tell me that alternations and shipping would take too long to do anything so "in sorry but there's nothing we can do" I asked if I could just purchase the jacket and go get alterations as my wedding day is ticking down.... These useless people look at me and tell me "no, we wouldn't sell you that jacket" Are you kidding me??? So I opted to have it altered on my own dollar and I will be keeping the jacket. My father in laws jacket came in undersized and they sent him a mega XXL jacket instead.... Can these folks do anything right? I also asked for some cuff links or button studs and they also tell me "we don't carry any of that here, we would need to ship it to you".... They don't carry ANY inventory other than model try on pieces at the store... they cannot sell you anything... they can barely rent anything. The store is legit a wholesaler that ships it to you that's it. Opt in for men's wearhouse or go get a suit or tux personally tailored. It is NOT worth the headaches. 0/10 would not recommend DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS
