I learned here that they have a pass where you're able to use all the city rec centres with one card, similar to Vancouver Parks Board's FlexiPass.

We have a family pass and pay monthly, but you can walk in and use the facilities on a per per go basis as well. They have all sorts of classes, a playground in the back, three pools, sauna, steam, water slide and if you are hungry after that a healthy snack bar - no fried garbage - a bit expensive but not overly so. Just don't get lost in the bamboo "forest" next to the library...but that's another story...

City workers were in their office (at work on the road) and the road was closed past the park. Driving all the way up to the road closed sign, I saw the turn-in for the parking lot and was relieved the entrance was not in the section of the road that was closed. The park has a variety of offerings including numerous soccer fields, two large baseball fields, pickleball courts abutting a fenced-in grassy sitting area equipped with benches, a skate park, a playground, a restroom building by a flagpole, porta-pottis scattered throughout the park, and two horseshoe pits. I had not thrown a horseshoe in 15 to 20 years (I am approximately 30 years old as of writing this on 24 May 2023). So, knowing I was bigger and stronger than the last time I threw one, I picked up a horseshoe and threw it better than I ever did when I was growing up. Fun to see the decade-plus rest served my horseshoe-throwing skills well. A swallow soared past me and Lepton in the parking lot and European starlings were hard at work foraging in the grass of one of the baseball fields. A worker was mowing the grass past one of the baseball fields. It was an overall serene exploring experience.

After parking my car, I went to the skate park and checked out a sculpture piece added in 2008 with the skate park, per the website as of 1 August 2023 the main park itself is approximately 40 years old. After setting a self-timer on my phone and taking a picture of myself having fun, I went and explored the main park area. A large grassy area had yellow grass, a reminder of low rainfall paired with summer heat. Birds chirped along the border on one side of the park, chirping as they flitted about in with the blooming wildflowers. I could hear a Steller's jay calling from the direction of an area of trailer homes bordering another side of the park. A group was using the playground and a fenced basketball area had its gate open for use.

They also do skate camps during the summer. It's next to the soccer and baseball fields and a bathroom is available. You can see everything from River otters, ducks, geese, and the occasional deer and rabbits on the trail. The park is also connected to the dog park so after your furry friends are done playing in the park, you can wear them out more on the trail. My only grip is that pet owners need to learn to take their poop bags all the way to the garbage instead of leaving them along the trail for others to take care of. Other than that, this is a great family trail!

It gets quite busy on a nice day. There are also ferries going by in the distance. If you go past the marina, there's an ice cream shop near by as well as several restaurants, and of course a little further is downtown Edmonds. There is a play area for the small kids along the path to the beach with picnic tables in the grassy area. If you have a stroller, there's a paved pathway to give easy access to the bench. There's a sandy area that can be used for volleyball - just bring a net and set it up! The dog park also provides a space for those with pets. There were sea lions when I visited, so that was pretty exciting! Small parking lot, but lots of street parking on Admiral Way.

There's sandy beach area for the little and big kids who want to make sand castles. Picnic benches to enjoy the views and a packed lunch if you like. Or bring a grill and pop a squat somewhere and enjoy the natural beauty. The pier has plenty of area for fishing or crabbing. The pier is designated as a smoke free area. No cigarettes, vaping or marijuana. There's even an area where you can clean the seafood you catch. The walkway around the marina extends a short distance so it's good to enjoy an outdoor walk with the seaside close.
