I've used Carpet Tyme in my past four homes for the last 25 years . 7 months ago I had called Alex. He came out and quoted me on flooring for three bedrooms. He was quick to get a deposit and in all reality pretty quick to install. I wasn't home during the install as I was working and I made payment via Zelle . After I got home I sent many pictures to Alex of poor craftsmanship . The flooring was not installed correctly. He promised he would come back. I've tried time and time again from calls to text messages. He's now gone to the point of not even responding. Needless to say I will never use this company again. He lost a long time client and someone that is a small business owner in town that is referred his company for 25 years read more

Alex started out wonderful, but since installation of our floor, he completely disappeared and left us with a floor that looks similar to an ocean. It started dimpling and rippling within months of installation. He sent out the installer to repair the floor with 2 boxes of flooring. Upon arrival, the installer confirmed that the entire floor needed to be replaced. Alex said he would file a claim with the flooring company and replace the floor. Since that conversation he has ghosted me. He will not return a phone call or text message. I have pleaded with him for help, but he ignores all calls and texts. We spent $20,000 on this floor and cannot get the courtesy of a phone call. Worse yet, when I arrived at the store to see if I could speak to Alex in person, I discovered the store is now by appointment only, scheduled by phone. Alex will not schedule an appointment with me. I originally had some beautiful carpet installed about three years ago on the second floor of my house in Agoura Hills. Alex and his crew were great to work with and they did a wonderful job. We received many compliments on the carpet. Flash forward three years and we now are selling our house after 35 years. Since the install three years ago the carpet has held up well other than a couple wrinkles in the hall and one of the bedrooms, nothing major but noticeable. I called Alex to hire him to "tighten" it up. Not only did Alex remember me and our house, but he also said he would send a couple guys out to take care of it. A man of his word, we had the carpet tightened up today and it looks as good as the first day it was installed! And Alex didn't charge us a cent! I requested a bid for re-flooring a small condo and Alex at Abbey Carpet (Carpet-Tyme) would not provide his room measurements, total unit area calculations or break down his material and installation costs on a per square foot basis... His bid was akin to a restaurant having filet mignon on its menu, quoting a price of $22.99 and refusing to tell you how big the steak is... I makes a huge difference if the filet is 4 ounces versus 12! Alas, since I have no basis for understanding their pricing, I will never know if they do quality work. read more

They did a terrible installation (Literally feels like metal under foot and stairs are already coming up) The NEW OWNER ALEX GARCIA agreed to replace or fix the issues and then evaded my phone calls & texts. (YOU CAN'T EVER GET ALEX ON THE PHONE - SEE OTHER REVIEWS) On top of this, he charged my credit card without my authorization for the final payment, and the job is still incomplete (months later). So I have been using Carpet-Tyme in Thousand Oaks for years. If I wanted an area rug made or new carpet installation or even just a simple carpet bought at Lowe's for a bathroom that was too long and needed cutting with new binding. They did it! Alex Garcia has gone above and beyond with helping me out. Never ridiculous prices. Sometimes never even charging me for a quick simple job having it done the next day. I can't recommend them enough. Yes there are many places that could be recommended in Ventura or Oxnard but trust me I've done my homework shopped around and Carpet-Tyme from day one until this very day has always come out with a much better price and that's without me even asking them to price match they are hands-down a better carpet company quality work professional guys. I'm writing this because they do have a new address. And I just want to let anyone who thought they had closed, they have not they are just in a new store front maybe 40 yards away from their old store. My family did business with them for 20 years. No more. We asked about new flooring quote. They couldn't come for a week. On the day, they called 45 minutes before the appointment- couldn't make it due to "flooring emergency" (???). Really? "First date" and you stand me up? Wanted to come in the evening that day. Guy made excuses why they couldn't lay the wood flooring nicely around the corner in the hall but would have to lay it "ladder like". Left without giving me a written quote. Never sent a quote. Even when I called a week later to ask when I'd get it, they just said, "We'll get back to you". They still have not, three weeks later. Oh, and another company handed me the quote when they came, had no problem turning the corner with the wood and avoiding the "ladder look". Along with other incidents with Carpet Tyme, neither I nor the rest of the family will be back (Six homes going elsewhere, gents! ) We try to support local businesses rather than go to big-box stores, but these guys make it impossible to keep them in business. read more

In 2005 we purchased carpeting for all of our bedrooms in Westlake, CA. After the carpeting installation crew left our home, I could not find my cell phone. I thought I had lost it in all of the moving of furniture. After looking all weekend, I called Sprint and asked if there had been any activity. To my surprise, within 5 minutes of the crew leaving the house, the activity began and had not stopped. I called the Thousand Oaks Police and a Detective came out. I gave him the records showing the usage immediately after they left. At first I felt sorry for the owner, as we cannot always control the employees that work for us. The crew was not an outside crew but a crew that worked for Carpet-Tyme. The detective went to speak with the owner but the detective told me that the owner was not helpful, obstructive, and was incredibly rude, even to the detective. Before you buy from here, get a quote in writing! My fiancé went here and she was told "don't worry about it" when she asked if there was an extra charge to install carpet on stairs. To me, that means there won't be a charge, wrong, it's over a hundred dollars. Then, the salesman started throwing multiple numbers at us, trying to confuse us on prices. Being in sales, I have seen this confusion tactic before and wouldn't fall for it, so I asked him to write everything down, the prices changed for a 3rd time. At this point we walked out, I turned around and found them laughing until they saw me looking at them. In other words, I would strongly recommend going somewhere else! I would not trust them on verbal price quotes , quality, or anything for that matter!! read more

Recarpeting the hallway and some of the bedrooms in my parent's house was a big challenge because this was a former hoarder's house. When the installers pulled up the old carpets, there was 50 years' worth of dust flying around. The guys just took it in stride; they wore dust masks but no comments or dirty looks at the state of the house. This alone would have earned them my gratitude, but they also helped me out when they didn't need to. In most cases, they would just shove furniture around from one side of the room to another while they do the install (and a lot of carpet people don't move furniture at all). Since I wanted to get ALL of the old furniture out of the room and into the garage where I could Craigslist it, the installers were kind enough to move the furniture and a dozen heavy boxes of books into the garage for me. No extra charge, no grumbling, just kindness. Carpet Tyme's prices were the best in town (and I went to 7-8 different stores doing comparison shopping). I admit that I was a little rude to the estimator at first because I thought he was trying to charge me for more carpeting than I needed. He patiently explained why they needed the extra yardage in a professional manner. I was the one who was wrong. I'd definitely use them again. read more

I am a Thousand Oaks resident and have been purchasing my carpet from them for years. Sometimes I am not sure why. You are correct, the personnel can be rude and act as if you are bothering them. You would think with the economy being so poor they would fall all over themselves trying to be helpful and accommodating. The thing that annoys me the most is that when they say they will call you back with some information that is necessary...they never do! I am about ready to go elsewhere even though I love to give local merchants my business and have for over 33 years. read more

We have used Carpet Tyme in Thousand Oaks for all my flooring needs since 2003. I love those guys and ??? the negative reviews. They worked patiently with us and answered all our questions. They also helped the decorator we hired and she was impressed them. We always have a hard time choosing what we want and have been in the store a dozen times and we always treated fairly. We also had home visits from them with samples and the house is beautiful. We now need to change out the carpet in 2 rooms and I"ll use carpet Tyme.
