If you have dirty carpets or any kind of floor I would recommend you call Deon at Carpet Genie. He is the nicest, most professional cleaner I have ever had in my home. His prices beat any other cleaner you might call with a coupon - AND he doesn't come into your home and start jacking up the prices for treating spots. You could rent a machine for approximately the same price but your labor would take more time and you'll be using an inferior machine without the strong cleaners. So I moved into a new place almost 4 months ago. My daughter keeps the dogs in her room at night, and one of them has his little accidents. i tried steam cleaning myself with a home machine, it still didn't get rid of the slight smell. Such nice guys! No issue with that! But I can't recommend them. They came out about a month ago and after spending over $700 to have area rugs cleaned, a month later, the same spots are back. Also, they never put something under my tables or any of the chairs to protect them so I have permanent dents in all those places. They never moved one thing! Just cleaned around the tables and chairs! They were out of my condo in less than 40 minutes and whatever they used to clean the carpets wasn't enough to clean them properly. They left everything soaking wet and I had to go around and wipe up excess water on my hardwood floors and in many cases, put towels down underneath my carpets so the floor would not get ruined. I wish I could give them a better review. Obviously many people were happy with their services but unfortunately not us. read more

Deon does an incredible job with stain removal. He has some kind of deep cleaning method that sucks out the dirt from under the carpet preventing the stains from returning for quite a while. I've had other companies in the past but the stains returned with 3 months. With Carpet Genie the stains disappear for 9-12 months. The carpet stays wet longer but that's no problem at all. Talked to deon on the phone and he was so nice and courteous. Scheduled cleaning for a holiday weekend, last minute and they accommodated my request. There was a slight hiccup with the appointment, but after I called to check where the guy was, deon apologized, even after me being rude, took care of us and sent someone over right away. The man who came over was clean, thorough and friendly. Our rug was disgusting, I just moved in with my boyfriend who hadn't had it cleaned since he moved in, 7 YEARS AGO! We had a dog, he had cats,etc etc. We had huge ink stain in the bedroom from our dog chewing on a pen. No extra charges, just the price he gave us on the phone. I left and came back to what looked like a brand new rug. I was amazed. For the past week I have felt like we have a new apartment. I love it! Holy crap. So, my little fold-down sleeper sofa's seat needs cleaning. It's not a monster by any means. It doesn't even have arms. And it's just the seat that needs steaming to get some water stains out. To get a quote I wrote them two emails, one via yelp and the other through their website. I did this because my cell drops calls inside our building. I received no response. So after three days of silence I went where my cell would would work and gave them a ring. I think I got the owner, and I will say he has what seems like a really nice personality. Buuuut, he also seemed really confused, because although he recognized me by name from one of my emails, which he received, he still said he didn't get my emails (huh?) and said he knew who I was from a call I'd made to him but he couldn't call me back because he didn't have my phone number - which I included in both the emails I sent him. After discussing the sofa and telling him what was up with it verbally, he quoted me $175 to steam clean the water stains off the sofa seat. $175!!!!!!!!(?) Does that not sound a little steep to you, too? Maybe it's that he thought that my location was indicitive of deep pockets, and because he was recommeded by the owner of the cleaners here, which is a higher-priced organic cleaner. So. Here's the short of what you should know: 1. Do not try to communicate with these folks via email, on yelp or their website. 2. Don't expect a sofa steam to be anywhere near a reasonable price. Seriously. If you're rich, these are your guys. I'm sure their work is very good. But, for a normal girl like me their services are simply way way way waaaaaaayyyy out of the affordable range. read more

Deon is fantastic. I had to call him 3 times because I had changes to what I needed cleaning, but he never acted annoyed like I would have been. He was great and very patient with my changing needs. His two guys showed up on time and were nice. I have two kitties, but as any of my friends would tell you, my apartment does not smell like cat that you would encounter in some apartments. But that didn't stop one of the guys from commenting that he could smell cat when looking at my dirty carpet. Um..my carpet is dirty because some bitch I rented a room to was too nasty to keep it clean and ruined it, not because my cats peed on it. They have never done that in the 14 years that I've had them. I think I was offended. They proceeded to clean my carpet, sofa and Moroccan daybed, which had some stains from moving and age. Maybe it couldn't be helped, but there was water all over my wood floors from their cleaning my stuff and the stains didn't come out of my daybed. On top of that, their equipment somehow accidentally caused 2 small rips in my daybed. It was not like that before they arrived. I know it was an accident, so I called Deon and told him that I'd like to take $5 off the price he quoted because of it. He was fine with that. It seems they really used a lot of water because after 24 hours, my carpet and sofa are still damp, but other than that, I would probably consider these guys again but probably with different instructions next time for the stains on my daybed. My carpet and sofa look great, so I'm happy they are cleaner now. UPDATE: After I posted my 4-star review, I received a call from Deon almost immediately to tell me that he wanted to earn 5 stars by coming out in the near future to take care of cleaning my carpet or whatever I needed. Although I don't anticipate needing a cleaning anytime soon, the fact that he reached out to show his concern is just unheard of in customer service these days. DEON did such a great job cleaning my parent's house!! AWESOME WORK!! Who said that affordability does not constitute QUALITY? Being a daughter of a critical Asian mother who ceases to never be content with my efforts and determination to impress her - I wanted to do something nice for her and have her carpets cleaned. The house I grew up in as a child had its carpet cleaned once (but being Asian household we take our shoes off so it wasn't that dirty), I paid for it myself because she's very stubborn about spending her money, and the carpet was getting worn out after 20 years of no steam cleaning. I read the reviews about Carpet Genie, called DEON (the owner of the company) who greeted me warmly and gave me the best quote of all the carpet cleaning companies. He was able to accommodate a date change, from a Mid morning Monday appointment to an Early Wednesday Morning appointment. DEON spent about 3 hours cleaning every nook and cranny of the house and my grandfather was overwhelmed by the technology they use in their cleaner - he excitedly recounted how white our rug under our dining room table turned out only have two go-arounds with the steamer! My mom told me she would definitely use DEON again, and how professional he is when dealing with her - I wouldn't want to work under the pressure of my mom's overbearing criticism, but DEON got the job done and did a fabulous job - good job you passed with flying colors. Deon & Carpet Genie is as "good as it gets" and deserves this 5 star! This review is far over due, as Carpet Genie has come to the rescue 4 times in the past 2 years. The first was after having our floors redone in 2011, our house was covered in dust. All the other carpet & cleaning companies were too booked to come out but we couldn't move back in unless the house was cleaned. Deon came in that very morning with a crew of 4 (a week before Thanksgiving!) and cleaned floors, carpets, walls, blinds. Everything! 2 additional times we had to call with pet emergency messes on the carpet. Deon's crew has always been available at a moment's notice AND are able to get the stains out. Then this week, another pet accident. I called Deon on a Monday morning and he had Raymond out by 11:00am. After cleaning the carpet, the spot was still there. I called Deon at 8:45 the next morning and he personally came out by 9:15am. He did some problem solving and used a technique usually reserved for hotels and got the stain out! The urine stain was deep in the carpet fiber and had soaked the pad, but is now gone!! And he steamed the entry way carpet as a free bonus! Okay so this was awesome. I recently got a dog, so its back to the routine quarterly carpet cleanings for me. you got to with pets yo! I am rather embarrassed to admit that I've been in my apartment for almost three years and never had them cleaned... I mean, I AM clean so it just was never a priority. Deon gave me a quote over the phone for $165 and said he could be here by noon the same day, awesome! He arrived on time and completed the cleaning within about an hour. Not only was it stained but it was also very smelly. The stains and smell were from the previous renters. Only areas for improvement would be to find a way to protect tile from dirty shoes during the process and to get into two other small corners of the apartment that didn't get treated.
