Carpet Depot in Wantagh wasn't easy. We spoke with Marty who is a really nice guy, but was obsessed with talking about the NY Rangers. I'm all about sports but when I'm looking to upgrade carpet in our house, i don't want to talk sports. I want to get info on the carpet. Marty, for the love of God, please, enough with hockey talk!! Once we finally made our decisions and to install carpet, they forgot to bring the landing hallway piece and never installed the stairs runner. So they had to come a 2nd day, but on the 2nd day they forgot the landing hallway carpet!!! On the 3rd day, they finally finished. The whole project took 3 days and should have only been 1 day. If you go to carpet depot in wantagh, talk with Joe. He's very knowledgeable, patient and ONLY TALKS CARPET!!! I spoke to him on the phone and was very thorough and is a problem solver. Needed a washable floor for my invalid folks. They sold a family member a vinyl plank floor, which supposedly has a wood veneer as the top layer. Got this in two rooms. This floor did not seal, and the tiles/'planks' are separating, delaminating, curling. Both rooms. The highly-trafficked area in one room is a hazard. We are tripping on it now. It is a safety issue. Got 2 years out of it? (The kitchen linoleum, with sliding chairs, etc, is decades old...) If there is wood in there somewhere, i cannot tell. Seems to me it is a disintegrating vinyl floor, with too many seams which do not seal. This product should not be sold, particularly for the use needed/described. The installer John was cool. He did warn about water with this flooring and using a very dry mop, at time of install, so I would say this was not an unknown property of this flooring when sold. Would have been good to know before we wrote a check. (And, as it seems, asorted foreign health care aides just don't seem to pay attention to floor-washing instructions...) If you need to wash a floor regularly, this was the wrong product to be sold. Sorry, but dont want to use a swiffer to pick up urine. Whether it's that or wine, or Coca-Cola, or gravy, a decent floor should be able to take being visited by a mop. My choice now is to buy a new floor. I got no discount on a second replacement floor, when I recently visited about fixing or getting another floor that can be walked on safely, and cleaned. Fixing what I have would just get me the same thing. Full price for a new one, basically, $5/ft installed ($4-6 is average new cost per square foot, as per the 'sales manager' the salesman asked. Why go back there, for that price, to replace a floor that should have lasted more than a year or two. May try one more call to corporate, then I try somewhere else. read more

Carpet Depot - Didn't last 2 years... - Carpeting Near Me - Wantagh, New York

Paid an excessive amount of money for a professional vinyl floor installation in my kitchen. Installer showed up late with no helper. Said he had to go back to the shop to pick up flooring which he said was suppose to be on site. Brought a completely different color reducing strip for the thresholds and ask if he could use them or wait for the right color. Was unable to complete a 500 square foot install in 1 day and told me he'd be back tomorrow to complete. He didn't show up the next day so I called the store. I was told by the manager the installer was very busy and I should reach out to him myself. He came back 2 days later and finished. He had taken all of the cabinet toe kicks and base molding off before install. He damaged them all and tried to hide it with caulking. He overcut the toe kicks leaving a large gap at the base of the cabinet. When I asked him about it he denied he'd cut them. I know he cut them, I'm a carpenter I installed the kitchen. I called the store and the manager said the owner would call me to discuss. He never did. Do throw your money away on these Butchers. read more

This is a review for Carpet Depot in general. I actually had had 2 jobs done by them at my house and both times these people were great. Reasonable price for fine carpet and the installers? wow just wow, they came and finish their job in a quick timely manner. They did not destroy anything nor did a half done job. I originally dealt with the Wantagh office and it was a good experience and the second time it was a in home visit and it was great as well. On 7/25/2022 I had Dan from Carpet Depot come to my house. He measured one 15 x 15 room and a flight of stairs. He laid out carpet choices for me that ranged from $2000 at the cheapest to over $3000. I selected a mid grade carpet and it came to $2800.00. The card he handed me said 3 rooms for $599 and he was quick to say that is for cheap carpet I'm not getting and it doesn't include steps. He took my credit card info and said he was going to charge a $1400 deposit. As soon as he left, I called another carpet company that came right out. They measured my room and I went to their showroom. They showed me carpets and remnants that ranged from $1350 to $5000. I selected a $1900 carpet that was much higher quality than the one from Carpet Depot. I then stopped the card that the Carpet Depot charge was on and faxed a notice of cancellation to their corporate office. The next day, when the charge failed, they called me and I informed them of my cancellation. They said they would look into it and call me back. When they called me back, they said the salesman, when he calculated the price, used a "2" in the formula instead of a "1". The price should have been $1400, not $2800, and they could do it for that price for me. I said "NO, I am a little sour on your company." Ten minutes later the salesman called me and said that he made an honest mistake. I asked him how long he had on the job and he said 4 years. I said, with your 4 years experience it didn't look wrong that one room and a flight of steps was $2800? He said some carpets cost more than that. Personally, I think they were trying to rip me off and I am very glad that I was able to cancel the sale. read more

We ordered a stair and hallway runner from Carpet Depot and were pleased with service initially. Installation was scheduled for a Saturday between 9-12. No one came or called, so we contacted the store. We were told that they were running late and would be there by 3:30. Again, no one showed or called. We called and were told someone cut their hand and we would be rescheduled for Tuesday. I spent an entire day day waiting for a service that never happened. When they finally came on Tuesday the runner was beautiful, but the installers left without setting the hallway runner and I had to call them back to complete it. Overall, I would not recommend this company. read more

Carpet Depot installed carpeting in most of my home. Within three years I notice buckling in several places in my master bedroom. Carpet Depot refused to stretch the carpet and fix the problem unless I removed all furniture from my bedroom and paid them $125 (it is not a large room). I read several articles on line about the possible causes of the buckling. The only two causes, aside from improper installation, were dragging heavy furniture and water in the carpet - neither was the situation in my room. A contractor who was at my home looked at the carpet and agreed it was installed improperly. I told the store the information in this review but they refused to do anything unless I paid them. Carpet Depot does not stand by their product or work. Stay away. read more

Had a vinyl plank floor installed approximately a year ago and pieces started lifting and separating a month after and store kept sending same installer back to fix 4 times and never completely fixes issue and other problems occurred would not recommend getting anything other then possibly carpet from them. Horrible customer service! ! read more

Today is moving day. Carpet depot promised their installers would be at my condo to install 99 yards of carpet at 7:30 am. Now it's 11:00 and we are told they are nit coming today because they over booked. My husband was at the condo from 7 - 11 waiting then they finally got an answer for us that they are not homing today. A $3300.00 Dollar job put on the back burner. Will never do business with them again and will never recommmend them! read more

I could rate this place a "zero" I would!!! These people are the BEST crooks on Long Island. Ordered a carpet, paid the deposit and waited for it to arrive. According to Mohawk this carpet would of taken weeks to receive. The carpet was received and delivered within the week. Luckily, I was home and stopped the installation process, because it was the wrong carpet. The carpet I ordered was a plush carpet with a $600.00 price tag and yet they tried to install a low-grade carpet. Yes, they did a BAIT AND SWITCH!!!! Normally, I don't write reviews but this one I felt was necessary to write. Please, please, please DO NOT order anything from these people. I purchased a carpet at there Wantagh store, when carpet was delivered it was the wrong color and not the same quality that I had picked out. Saw the commercial that promised plush carpet for 3 ROOMS for $599. I go the store and select a mid level grade carpet and I even show them the schematics for the room I want done in my house. I was promised EXTRA thick padding since the room is upstairs over the living room. I make my 50% down payment (non refundable) and await the next step. They tell me the total is supposed to be $525, a little hight if you ask me for mid-lower grade carpet. A few days later the guy measure and leaves. The night before the installation they tell me the room is SO much bigger than expected and now it jumped to the $749 because its about a foot total more than expected. Now since they have me by the you know what and I cant my deposit back Im forced to pay up. They install it and when I walk on it the padding is paper thin doesn't even reach the saddle like the old carpet did. The padding is SO thin that i can hear my 7lb cat run across the floor throughout the house. Ive called and complained numerous times and no response or call back. This place is a scam and PLEASE do not give them your business. They're a rip off. read more

A few weeks ago my son and daughter in law had carpet installed by them. The installer used the upstairs bathroom, clogged the toilet and caused a flood that ran into the bathroom below. My son came home as the installer was running out and he told him he was finished. He found the mess, including a moved box of baby wipes that he must have used and which clogged the toilet, and he called the store. This was a Friday and they told him the owner was away and to call back on Monday. In the meantime, of course, he had to remove he wet Sheetrock from the downstairs bath which smelled like feces. The company sent someone supposedly from the insurance company. They said the pictures weren't sufficient and he shouldn't have taken the damage out. Really? He had a lot of nerve to use a customer's bathroom for that purpose to begin with. To run out was beyond unethical. For this company to deny compensation just shows what kind of business they are running. They should be ashamed. read more
