Definitely a privileged problem to have, but I'm here to say you should save Da Que in your phone or old school memory bank. Because the diverse selection of smoked meats as sandwichs or platters at Da Que are worth the stop. It sits just a mile or so off 33 and isn't visible from the road. In fact no commercial establishments make you assume it is a farms only exit. But get off the road for a quick stop. Four of us getting out of Columbus before rush hour stopped for a late lunch and were glad we did. Pulled pork, brisket, chicken all available as sandwiches and range of sides including slaw, baked beans, mac and cheese and cheesy potatoes. Next time I'm going to be brave and try the brisket and mac and cheese burrito! The pitmaster was on the register and kept apologizing for being out of his element as he struggled to find the right buttons to push on the register. But honestly good fun to laugh with him as we all outside our lanes as we were still decked out in formal conference attire. But our common love for smoked anything and everything was the common thread. And I haven't done it but clearly catering is a core dimension of their business. I haven't in days/weeks have been consistently sick. I get chronic pneumonia and Had Covid 5 times and who knows when I had the symptoms and didn't test me. I have several diagnoses and new ones. I have had 2 brain surgeries and more surgeries over the time. I live literally 1 minute exactly or tad bit under in driving time or 4 minutes walking time (I had walked up until a few years ago once in a while. I drove mostly & I'd walk and drive in snow to buy stuff (cigarettes, pop, food items, lottery etc so many days of the weeks. I went there well before I got married and moved a minute away. I'd go there from across town, when I moved out of state and would visit home. Then when I lived way out in the country, I'd go to Ameristop. I am NOT happy (nor are many here in Lancaster that a man I have heard who seems to be very rude and gives dirty/ strict & not making customers feel welcome. (Meaning the new owner who bought it). I may still go there if I really need to because of they are so close to my house and have a few things other places don't. I don't want to go to a store that the owner looks like he hates everyone and is not a welcoming type of person. I used to over most of my life loved going there. He needs to have his contract torn up and find another buyer. Maybe the long time employees could go in on buying it. Jay and the ex owner were great and made you feel very welcome. And everyone who worked there knew me by name and were always hoping I'd get well after every surgery. They'd offer to me to use a carry basket filled with pop home as they knew I'd bring it back. Ameristop that WAS my favorite store. They may lose many customers and lose money as well bc ppl will probably trickle down (as they will lose my business). Over the years I have spent so much money there. Unless it is a very important need and since they are close I'd go there. Otherwise they are losing most of my business since they have a not so welcome new owner. No personality, looks mean, looks like he doesn't like anyone, he doesn't NOT make ppl feel comfortable going there, where we all felt comfortable before with the ex owner and ex manager! He thanked me for doing some homework and finding this place on our way through Circleville coming from an event at Deer Creek State Park.
