I live in Houston but had to order a couple cakes for a work function in Houma. After internet searching and basing my choice on star ratings and random pictures, I went with Caro's. A couple weeks go by and the night before the delivery, I get a call from the bakery saying their edible paper printer isn't working right and asked for permission to draw the logos. Not having much time prior to needing the cake, I had no choice but to say yes. All I could imagine was the cheesy cake decorating designs at the local grocery store and called my person in Houma to apologize ahead of time for what may show up on the cake. Today I got a picture of the cake and I'd say Melanie nailed it!! These logos look perfect for drawing with icing and overall the cake looks amazing. Picked up my grandson's 12th birthday cake yesterday and was very disappointed. Should have read some of the reviews first because apparently it's a common complaint. And obviously, one that Caro's ignores and chooses, not to improve thier product and service to retain repeat NEW customers. My grandson came all the way from VA to celebrate his 12th birthday with family Houma this year. I, being raised in the area INSISTED my daughter ONLY order from Caro's...as most family does. Raved about how good, delish, moist they are...as they have been in the past hence the reputation. We emailed a picture to superimpose on the cake. IT LOOKED PERFECT. They couldn't have done a better job on the decorating and the icing as good as always. But that is not what a birthday CAKE is all about. In the end, you gotta BRING IT. I mean come on...this is Louisiana and it's difficult to find bad food ANYWHERE! Shame on you Caro's for relying on a loyal customer base that, like me, were unaware that the quality and Louisiana Pride has so obviously slipped away from yesteryears. With this quality, like many other businesses....even those that are 100 years old...will slip in to the history books. Today's consumers are not like thier grandparents. This is the best cake in the world imo. Doesn't get any better than Caro.

I'm a lesbian currently getting ready for my wedding. The lesbian couple thats getting married with us called Caros Bakery to get an appointment to design a wedding cake. She was very bluntly and rudely told "That we don't do that". When she said excuse me? The lady again told her we dont do that for couples of your kind. She hung up shocked and outraged. Later when a friend of mine questioned someone that worked there, the employee replied we have to take a stand against that kind of thing. Needless to say Don't go to Caros for a cake if your gay!!! read more

Pitiful excuse for a carrot cake! Not a visible sign of a real carrot in it. Tasted like a boxed mix spice cake only worse. It was dry and had only faint spiced flavor. I gave it one star because the decoration was nice. A total ripoff to pay $35 for a cake that was nothing at all like what a "bakery" should produce. I will never buy a cake here again. read more

I was craving A cupcake from Caro's because they taste so good, I ordered and picked up cupcakes on Thursday, the little girl behind the counter was very nice and helpful, unfortunately the lady who came out with the apron on didn't even acknowledge my presence, she was all frowned up and didn't even bother with a simple hello. If I have eye to eye contact with anyone, I show respect and common courtesy. I won't be back, I will spend my green money where ever I so please. After getting my cupcakes and other goodies, I ordered a cake and showed a picture of what I wanted the little girl informed me they would be closed the Friday the day after I got my cupcakes, she said I can pick it up a Caro's Cake Too on the west side of Houma, first off it took the lady 3 minutes to even say can I help you, she seen me and kept looking at other tickets or something, she was so ugly! Her attitude was horrible. Finally I see the cake, the cake was so ugly and flimsy, I said this is nothing like I ordered, she said well this what was written down, she saw my dissatisfaction, I didn't want to cause a scene, I was irritated, paid and left! Will I ever order again no! I will advise my family, friends and co workers not to order! I went to another cake shop and paid for them to liven up my cake and added cupcakes to it.
