I've been here twice in the (almost) 2 months that we've lived in this area, as we needed a few…read morefurniture pieces for our home since they didn't make it in the move. There is a severe lack of quality furniture stores in this area (which is just weird), so we ended up stopping in here to check it out. Upon first glance, I loved the store. It's huge, and they have some really beautiful pieces. (which is why I gave two stars instead of one) On our first trip there, we were shopping for a dining set, and ended up liking one of the ones they had on the floor, but we were a little turned off by their price. ($1400!) So we decided to keep it in mind, and keep shopping around. We found the exact same table set at another (less unique, less quality) furniture store in Bremerton with a price tag of $900. The exact same one---$500 cheaper! Yikes. Talk about marking up your inventory. Also during this visit, we were unfortunate enough to be exposed to the owner's (or whoever she was) berating her own son (I assume it was her son) because he came in to ask for gas money. She loudly lectured him in front of us, and WE were made to feel awkward and embarrassed--I can't imagine how he must have felt. It turned me off to shopping there that day, as I didn't want to do business with such a manipulative and downright mean lady. I couldn't believe the "show" we got to see that day. Completely rude (to that boy and to us) and unprofessional. My next trip here was in search of a headboard for our king size bed. I wanted something unique, and knew that there weren't very many places to go in this area, so I stopped by again (and hoped to have a better experience). I did. The gentleman who waited on me was very very nice, made great conversation, and was very helpful. However, the prices are just too high. I don't know what people do in this area for a living, but I come from CT (where everything is overpriced) and was still shocked at the pricing. $200-600 for an old door, $400 for this or that, $1500 for a small table. I mean, really. Who can afford things like that? I think if this store was a little more realistic in their pricing (and also took their family drama to the back room), they'd have a shot at luring us back in as future customers. Until then, nah.

Watch out for this place! Despite their perpetual "store closing" sales, the merchandise is very…read moreoverpriced for the quality and customer base. And make sure you have firmly made up your mind.....ALL sales are final, even uncompleted sales like layaways, and the only refund you are likely to see is a store credit for yet more overpriced goods. It is associated with another similar but smaller operation under the same ownership (also not receiving good reviews) and the ownership and sales staff of both are pretty heavy-handed. Not a comfortable place to shop and not one that I'd recommend - Macy's has a relatively similar selection of furniture and at far better prices

I've always thought I had relatively good design sense. But after a year-and-a-half of lock-down and working from home, I felt the place was looking a little blah.  But I'd been procrastinating.  On a whim one Saturday, I walked into Seldens and met Christine. I explained what I'd been thinking, and she got it immediately. She asked a lot of questions and took the time to get to know what I like and don't like. I appreciated that she listened and worked with me to propose a range of solutions that seemed to work for me and helped me prioritize what would give me the most "bang for the buck".   She didn't propose a radical makeover but rather a smart choice of options that had the impact. And she was able share examples from other projects she'd completed so I could see how some of the ideas she was suggesting would look in my place. I went from hesitant to excited, and I can hardly wait for everything to get the first phase of my spruce-up project implemented.  I started out thinking I didn't really need a designer per se. But thanks to Christine Wang's help and the resources at Seldens, I wouldn't start a project without consulting with her first. Annie G

(Note: there seems to be two separate Yelp sites for this store. This "Bad Blanche" site and one for "Bad Blanche Collections". Both are describing the same store on Front Street. Hopefully the Yelp gods will consolidate these two sites!). If you are looking for a $2.99 "Grow your own Pirate" toy, you will find it here. If you are instead looking for a $4,000 sideboard, you too will find it here. And so many things in between, in every price point in between. How does one review this store? There's a lot of jewelry. And hats. And clutches and purses. Yes, there are bins of inexpensive scarves at the front of the store (2 for $10), but I found the women's accessories and jewelry to be overpriced. There's a very large assortment of household décor and accents - especially beach- and nautical-themed pieces, and most of these were beautiful and unique and reasonably priced. I had never seen most of these home accents before. Very lovely. Then there are Asian-inspired furniture pieces (chests, cabinets, a gorgeous bamboo ladder); these appeared to be in decent condition and well-priced. There are many canvas plaques with stenciled sayings on them and other assorted wall décor, decoupage ornaments, knick-knacks, and small kiddie toys. All in all, quite the potpourri of stuff! The store is long and deep and you can (and should!) spend some time exploring it. The lady at the cash was friendly; when we came in, she was singing along to the taped music. This is definitely a unique store that totally fits in with the Poulsbo scene. I look forward to returning.

We went in and clearly stated we were just looking. Every time one of us touched something the staff was right next to us watching our every move, like we were going to steal something. Than they would begin to tell us every single detail about what ever it was we touched. Next came the high pressure sales. I'm not sure what part of we are just looking, they couldn't figure out but I wasn't having it so I left.
