The one word to describe this store is: eclectic. With such a varied mix of merchandise, it will be difficult to adequately describe the store, let alone review it. (Note: there seems to be two separate Yelp sites for this store. This "Bad Blanche" site and one for "Bad Blanche Collections". Both are describing the same store on Front Street. Hopefully the Yelp gods will consolidate these two sites!). If you are looking for a $2.99 "Grow your own Pirate" toy, you will find it here. If you are instead looking for a $4,000 sideboard, you too will find it here. And so many things in between, in every price point in between. How does one review this store? There's a lot of jewelry. And hats. And clutches and purses. Yes, there are bins of inexpensive scarves at the front of the store (2 for $10), but I found the women's accessories and jewelry to be overpriced. There's a very large assortment of household décor and accents - especially beach- and nautical-themed pieces, and most of these were beautiful and unique and reasonably priced. I had never seen most of these home accents before. Very lovely. Then there are Asian-inspired furniture pieces (chests, cabinets, a gorgeous bamboo ladder); these appeared to be in decent condition and well-priced. There are many canvas plaques with stenciled sayings on them and other assorted wall décor, decoupage ornaments, knick-knacks, and small kiddie toys. All in all, quite the potpourri of stuff! The store is long and deep and you can (and should!) spend some time exploring it. The lady at the cash was friendly; when we came in, she was singing along to the taped music. This is definitely a unique store that totally fits in with the Poulsbo scene. I look forward to returning. read more

Cute stuff everything from furniture to jewelry to toys for the kids and all reasonably priced. Unfortunately the staff can be a little over bearing. We went in and clearly stated we were just looking. Every time one of us touched something the staff was right next to us watching our every move, like we were going to steal something. Than they would begin to tell us every single detail about what ever it was we touched. Next came the high pressure sales. I was visiting Seattle with my Hubby. We took a ferry to Bainbridge and drove around and found the quaint Norwegian/ Scandinavian town of Pulsbo. Bad Blanche was the last shop we strolled into after a power outage. As another yelper mentioned that the establishment contained some eclectic gifts and home items. A browsing good time. My husband found a funky wooden fish on metal wheels. He thought it was pretty cool. It was like an old vintage toy. He kept rolling it around while I was shopping about. We left without it. After returning home. I called the store to see if it was still there for purchase. Trina was a gem. I guess when I called she had just put the fish down and knew exactly the item in which I was speaking of. It was meant to be that the fish and Hubby were reunited. I haven't found a gem like this in years! My boyfriend had to nearly drag me out of there. Very unique and beautiful things for your home and well organized. I was ooohing and awwwing the whole time. My only complaint would be the prices were a very pricey on my college budget but this place had things you can't find at any target or department store. This is such a unique store with such varied, lovely items that the owner brings in from her trips around the world. Most very reasonably priced and it seems that there is always some kind of sale. Whenever I'm in Poulsbo, I stop in, just to see what's new in the place. I also always take visitors and they almost always buy some trinket to take home. Today, I took a friend from out of town with her 10 year old daughter, and even she was charmed. Highly recommend. read more

two, formerly three locations of bad blanche...one in downtown poulsbo, one at hostmark and highway 305 to bainbridge...i'm going to be fair and say that yes, i've found a couple of interesting things and also purchased some furniture from both establishments but will now not ever shop there (either place again)...here's why it seems that every time I purchased furniture (a couple chairs, couch and other assorted smaller pieces) there was always some issues....didn't have it when they said they did...wasn't where it was supposed to be when we came to pick up, no one knows anything about it...etc... I mean, I could go on but really, why? THEN, the straw that finally broke that old camel's back...when someone I knew purchased something (furniture wise) and oh my GOD the chaos that ensued just getting that damn order right...it was simply ridiculous and if I could remember the name of the idiot that "took care" of these people's order i'd plaster it all over hell and back..but alas...i'm old and can't remember (lucky brat) anyways...no, I will never grace the doorways of this establishment again...why give money to this business person that runs their business this way? my recommendation? don't do it... read more

We purchased a new living room set from Northwest Furniture, a company also owned by Constance who owns Bad Blanche. We knew it would take a while to get as it was being made just for us. Our sales person was Steve and he was great! Steve was a huge help with the entire process, I honestly cannot say enough good things about him. However, we've had some pretty major problems with our furniture and have had a very hard time getting anything done about it. Dealing with Constance, the owner has been a major pain as she seems to forget to follow through on anything. We are now working with the manager Rick and quite frankly, he's like a used car salesman. I actually had to file a complaint with the BBB before getting their attention and showing them I am not just going too go away, they must deal with this problem. Well, a month later and still no resolution. Buy your furniture any where but here! Ashley furniture would have been better and cheaper than what I got for a lot more money. read more

Ok, so I haven't actually been to Bad Blanche but my friend Christian bought this fabulous huge table lamp that I always coveted. I did call BB but they didn't have another one in stock but several months ago Christian moved and gave me the lamp! I love it and it 'lights up' any room I put it in. I would not recommend Bad Blanche or their sister store, Eclectic Home Furnishings in Silverdale, WA. I recently purchased a gurgle pot over the phone and asked them if they could wrap it for a wedding. They were very helpful and said they had a nice reusable bag they could put it in for an additional $20. I sent my husband to pick it up and we headed out for the wedding. When I got out of the car for the wedding I discovered the gurgle pot was simple put in the bag with some bubble wrap and wrinkled up paper. The bag still had plastic on the handles. This was NOT wrapped for the wedding. Luckily we had cash and gave that as a gift instead. I went to the store today to return the items with receipts and tags. The store clerk said they do not return items and all sales are final. I explained the situation and they simply said, "read the sign". I spent over $70. The items had not been opened. I understand that my husband should have read the sign but also believe we should have been able to return the items. I would not recommend these stores. Who doesn't return items that weren't on sale and never opened?! read more
