I'm only expressing our specific experience dealing with this company. Nothing about our simple frameless shower door installation went as expected. They simply over promised and under delivered. If you're the kind of consumer who is enamered by the "small family business" angle, then maybe you will overlook their obvious lack of professionalism in dealing with service failures or deficiencies. In my personal opinion, small family businesses are inherently lacking in expertise and professionalism as the qualification to become a craftsman lies in familiar relationships, not actual expertise or experience.
I'm sure they will try to spin this review. Claiming that I have a crappy new $500,000 house with unusually crappy out-of-square walls. But the fact is that our door and fixed panels have 1/4" gaps. The bottom lower corner is flush against that lower corner and gradually extends to 1/4" towards to both the vertical AND horizontal edges of the 24" narrow panel. They make it sound like my house and shower enclosure is extremely out of square. But that is not the case. Sure, they might have adjusted for some variation but apparently not enough. I'm guessing the measuring consultation wasn't done accurately.
I didn't necessarily feel comfortable from the very beginning. Something just wasn't right. I didn't like the approach of the installers (owner?) from the beginning. Something just didn't "smell" right.
They designed my door on the wrong side our our enclosure. Sure, I probably approved the design but I'm guessing they never really sent me the layout. I'm sure I would have noticed that. In fact, they didn't even realize it until they came out to install it. They knew they screwed up but then tried to convince me to a let it as designed. Which ultimately was a good idea. Except that I modified our trim to allow for door swing. Keep in mind that you're dealing with the owner who seems to have no interest in your needs, only in convincing you that "everything will be ok".
As far as scheduling, they have all the "facts." But all we remember is that they didn't honor the installation schedule because they had what seems to be ongoing child care issues. Sure, they can spin it, and I'm sure they don't actually remember because I'm sure child care issues arise numerous times with customers. Their family comes first, you come second.
Sure, they have all the "facts" to support their "superior" service claims. All we know is that we deal with many contracters, and this certainly was not one of the more successful and satisfactory dealings. The whole experience didn't seem professional, on-time, or customer service focused. And we had a very simple shower door and panel that fits the space.
And I won't accept that they criticize our new construction $500,000 house and blame me or our shower enclosure for the "excessive" poor quality walls. But just like their response to previous reviews, they want to deflect from their shortcomings, or own up to poor installations, designs, or layouts.
And as far my mold, if the gaps weren't up to and over a 1/4", then perhaps all the excess chalk wouldn't have created a breeding ground for mold. And to claim that we didn't properly care for it definitely rubs me the wrong way. Their too busy claiming now great they are to inform customers of proper care. They knew they screwed up and were tiptoeing around the entire installation. But since you're dealing with the owner, they have a significant vested interest in getting you to accept the gaps and misques.
There's more to our story but I just don't have have the time to cover all of the service, scheduling, and quality failures of this install.
Overall though, they seem nice and a definitely "family oriented" company. I hate to feel this way about our experience because they seems so nice. But the facts are the facts. And feel compelled to share our experience.
Good luck. read more
