The restaurant was not full at the time, so I found that experience disappointing. A simple "Welcome in, we'll be with you shortly" would have made a big difference. I ordered Kiki's Soul Food Plate with four chicken wings, string beans, sweet potato soufflé, and a muffin, along with a side of collard greens. The chicken wings were fried to a good consistency, but once I bit into them, the chicken was extremely dry--much drier than I expected. The string beans and collard greens were okay, but honestly, neither was anything special. The sweet potato soufflé was another surprise. When I took a bite, I tasted what seemed to be a clove, and I actually had to spit it out. That was definitely not what I expected when ordering sweet potato soufflé I am not a big fan of cloves. The muffin was probably the best part of the meal. It was hot, edible, and had more of a cake-like texture, which I actually enjoyed. I'm not someone who judges a restaurant based on one visit, especially since I've eaten at Kiki's several times before. But this particular visit just didn't live up to my previous experiences. Trivia started at 7pm and the host was pretty good! We enjoyed ourselves and got to speak with him for a couple minutes after it was over. Only down side was that there was only 1 round of trivia which lasted about an hour (we were hoping for a couple rounds) and our prize was a $10 gift card and a $5 gift card. So our group of 4 tried to split them as fairly as possible since the bartender told us he couldn't just distribute them across our individual tabs (a couple bucks off each one), but we ended up combining all of our purchases and then splitting it 4 ways...which I wasnt super thrilled with but whatever. It would be nice to have a little bit of a better prize for trivia nights, but that wont stop me from coming out. All in all, not a bad experience at all.
