I had a choice of white or yellow rice. I chose yellow. It was very well seasoned and had perfect texture. The beans under the pork were Cuban style black beans. Everything went together perfectly.

Portions of filling are generous, my favorites being the "ham, pepper, onion"and the egg salad sandwiches. They offer a daily soup option as well. Sometimes, you don't need a fancy sub sandwich or fancy brioche bun with all kinds of veggies and protein filling. Sometimes, you just want a sandwich like you would make at home for a brown bagged lunch, or like momma would've made for you, and this is the place. For that reason, this gets a four star rating. It is just a bit out of the way, 20 minutes each way to grab a work lunch, so you're eating in the car. But it is destination worthy. Toasted is an option. Dining in is an option. Sides are an option. No outdoor seating. Very quick service. Great value for the money. Three sandwiches for just under $11. We need more options like this simple, but delicious lunch.

My favorite is the Deluxe Classic-add black beans. It has yellow rice, chicken breast, lettuce and tomato - don't forget to add black beans. They taste great with the yellow rice. They have a variety of sauces. I always get the sweet mustard curry or garlic cilantro. All of the sauces are excellent. You also need to try the fried plantains. They are sooooo good with rice and beans. Sometimes I just order rice and beans and plantains. That's a good meal too. Really, everything here is good!! The pork, the chicken, the steak, the rice and beans. The only thing I haven't tried is their sandwiches. They have different specials on different days. The last time I checked they had "ropa vieja" on Friday's. You have to try this!!! It's beef brisket with garlic, green olives and green peppers. Call to verify that they have it on Friday though ( it might have changed). I've been there before on Friday lunch break and a line of people was out the door waiting to get their beef brisket!! When it's gone it's gone until the next Friday. They also have a family dinner for a great price. You can order large portions and sides to take Home and share with family. They are really nice, family oriented company. Try any of their locations and you won't be disappointed.
