We were very excited to try Carmen's. We heard such great things. I'm gonna start off by saying they're way to expensive. It's one of these places that nickel and dime you to death. I get it small business need to make money but sometimes small business needs to understand we work hard for our money and want to support them but not at outrageous cost. We got two egg sandwiches. The bread was great. There was barely any egg on either of them. I got mine with scrapple and there was a decent amount of under cooked chopped up scrapple on it. Maybe one slice of cheese on each sandwich. I should also say we were charged 50 cents extra for our single slice of Swiss on each sandwich. I was going to ask for onions and hot peppers but I saw the sign each would have been an addition 50 cents. When I ordered the lady taking the order was very unpleasant and rude. She asked if I wanted a long roll or a round roll. I replied with "what ever you suggest we are first timers." Her answer she shot back at me very snottily was "well a long roll cost more money". I didn't care about the money if she woulda said she recommends that I woulda got it. I never carry cash on me because I work in questionable areas and it's also 2023. I was also charged an additional 3.99% for using my debit card. The sandwiches were done fairly quickly maybe if they took an extra minute tho the scrapple woulda been cooked. We will still buy our rolls here but I won't give Carmen's another chance. I don't feel like this one a one off situation. The lady who rang me up was very pleasant and sweet. So if it wasn't for her and the good bread it would be 0 stars. The place was clean and it's just a takeout so there is nowhere to eat. If you look through my past reviews of other businesses this isn't about me being cheap. I don't mind spending money if the value and service is equal. Carmens II attached to the delBuonos bakery is a happening spot at least judging by the line. It appears to have good signage on where to order and where to pick up but that's a mirage for the most disorganized deli situation I have seen. We only ordered 2 sandwiches and it took 35 minutes. One bologna hoagie and one ham and cheese hoagie . Nothing crazy here nothing special. 35 minutes people were waiting in line before and after us. If we haven't spoken up we would probably still be waiting . The other thing that isn't great about this place is the price gouge. The board clearly stated 10.75 for a ham and cheese hoagie however at the register it was mysteriously 11.96. The cashier was unable to explain. I did not press the issue but this is definitely bad business . Onto the sandwiches they were ok loaded with lettuce and onions there was a fair amount of lunch meat which is sliced to orders The fresh roll was the best part for me perfectly fresh and crispy. OMG!!! This is a great place, the foods are absolutely delicious and made on fresh Del Buono's baked rolls !!! It is incredibly hard to just walk around and/or wait in the store smelling the fantastic aromas of Carmen's foods being made; the fabulous smells of Del Buono's fresh baked rolls, cakes, pies, pastries, pizzelles and cookies!!! They have just anything that you need in a pinch including fresh eggs. YES!!! Dingy and unfriendly. No where to sit or stand waiting for your food everybody's just kind of standing around awkwardly bumping into each other. No where to wash your hands. Breakfast was OK, I asked for a little bit of hot sauce and they drowned the entire thing and so much hot sauce I could barely finish it. What's up with that? The smell of bread was actually really intoxicating and the rolls were very fresh, unfortunately the texture was really pillowy and absorbed all that hot sauce so it definitely was not a winner. read more

Order goes through.. and I wait and I wait. FORTY FIVE MINUTES LATER, Carmen's decides they don't feel like making things that are on their menu so they cancel my entire order. Carmen's is located within the Del Bueno bakery on 168. They use the Del Bueno rolls to make fresh deli sandwiches. They also sell pies, sodas, snacks, cold salads (macaroni, potato, etc). The original Carmens deli was Da Bomb! I've been going for over 20 years. Since the new ownership, quality and service has plummeted! Employees are "cold" and sometimes rude. Today, I purchased a large Italian hoagie, it literally had two thin slices of lunchmeat and one slice of cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions.. $14.00. I WILL NEVER RETURN. Don't waste your time. They only bought the name. Ordered two cheesesteaks, same size, and one was literally half the size. I questioned it and the woman working the counter said they would make me another. I told her I was in a hurry. Without being asked, the grill guy came over all pissed off and opened up my steak and began touching it and screaming "small steak, small steak!". I'll start with the good ( I am a regular for the past 10 yrs). the hoagies an cheesesteaks are always good. if you order and pick up make sure you get someone's attention or you'll be standing there until one of the two ladies finally notices you. I think they don't think it's their room to wait on you as they always look exasperate. the guys at the grill are great. the lady who got my order left one of the sandwiches out ( I spent over 60$). then asked to see me receipt which is fine. the fries are always cold it's like they make them and let them sit on the counter. cold fries are never good. the kid at the checkout looks confused. but maybe he's new I do t know. Three times I have ordered & every time the order is wrong. Called the last time & asked for Potato skins . Girl on phone couldn't understand that. Got my order home & had French fries . Take a five minute ride and go to the real Carmen's Deli. For sweets try Deluxe bakery right up the road. The cheese steaks at the Haddon Heights location are bland, the lunch meat was cut the thickness of a ham steak, the cinnamon roll was no more than dry bread with bland cream cheese icing on top, and to make things even better - both the rice pudding and snickerdoodles I purchased were expired. I normally check but trust Carmen's and let my guard down, not realizing til my little one bit into a cookie that was a hard as a rock. Brought back the cookies and rice pudding - no apology, no mention that they would check inventory so others did not eat expired food, and strangely they were not at all surprised. They just wanted to get rid of me. Don't let negative reviews of this location steer you away from Carmen's altogether - Carmen's is amazing, but it's the people that make it great, and the good ones are at the location on Browning Road. read more

I grew up in Bellmawr and this was nearly a daily stop on the walk home from school. Will never forget Rose. But I moved to the West Coast in 1986. There is nothing west of Carmens in the world unless you go all the way around the earth and approach Carmens from the east. LOL. I actually went from Philadelphia international airport directly to Carmens my first visit back east years ago and it continues to be a major priority when arriving. The sandwiches are incomparable as is any creation they offer. My only complaint is that Rose and Denny are missing and sadly the unique aroma of a deli that I remember. Carmens II is just as much the "real Carmens" as the original location in Bellmawr. They use the same meats, the same bread, the same recipes, and are owned by the same owner -- Tommy Whitman, who rescued the Carmens business a few years ago. Great hoagies on genuine Del Buonos rolls like they always have been. Molto bene! Besides hoagies, there are a ton of other great things for sale in Carmens II, like pies, cakes, desserts like pumpkin roll ... everything is awesome. In this pandemic time, as expected, you're required to wear a face mask when entering and also encouraged to use disposable plastic gloves, which are provided at the entrance for free. The photos are just a few examples of the poor quality food they serve. I got a mimi cheese steak with fried onions. Well I don't like burnt onions and burnt bites of meat through out my sandwich. Also the cost for what you get is not worth it. They charge for everything on the sandwich, ketchup cheese and onions. I could see if I asked for extra of these items, but I didn't. It seems once the original owners sold to Delbuono's the quality has went to crap. I long for the good old days. read more

Great deli sandwiches made on fresh rolls made daily , lots of meat and cheese , there cheese steaks are awesome, the hogies are huge. The bakery has lots of goodies for a great price. I had the apple scones which were tasty, the items very daily , and they have pepperoni bread that is stuffed with meat and cheese. The only things g is they close at 6 so get there early if you are planning to have them for dinner. They also make breakfast sandwiches. read more

You would think they have step stools to clean the back splash wall and top of the food counter but no. Today we stopped by DelBuono's and could not resist getting some subs at Carmen's. We order a tuna sub and cheese sub. The homemade tuna salad was delicious in the yummy DelBuono's roll. The cheese sub was filled with freshly sliced cheeses. I especially loved the provolone. For dessert we picked up the apple filling yellow cake. We have been going to DelBuono's since we were children growing up in Haddon Heights. Carmen's Deli is a fabulous addition to one stop for delicious deli items and rolls and pastries!
