Earlier this year I came in and had a custom mouth guard fashioned to wear at night due to teeth grinding. An impression was made and I was to come back for the finished guard, but COVID struck and offices were shut down. I really needed my mouth guard and contacted the office so that my guard could be sent to me. When I received the mouth guard, there were NO instructions about how to care for it, how to clean it, what to use to clean it, etc. (pure negligence on the office's part). I just assumed I would clean it daily like I had cleaned another mouth guard in the past from another dentist office. Eight months later, I noticed stains on my mouth guard that would not come out. I tried to clean them with toothpaste, baking soda, tea tree oil, retainer tablet, antibacterial soap all of which did not remove the stains. I made an appt to see if office staff could remove the stains. On 12/28/2020 at 11:30 a.m. I presented with the mouth guard. They took it to a back room and put it in a cleaning machine. After 10 mins, the stains had not come out. When I asked the person if they thought the stains were mold, they stated they did not believe they were mold stains. I told them before I had my gallbladder surgery just recently, my gums were bleeding slightly and I asked if they felt the stain could be blood. She said it's possible, but they were not definite. I told them all of the methods I had used to clean the guard and they said I should not have used toothpaste. I informed them that I had NOT been given any instructions whatsoever when they sent the mouth guard. She gave me two small packs of cleaning tablets to start out with. I noticed they had expired and brought this to her attention. She refused to see if she had newer tablets and stated I could still use these tablets even though they were expired. The person I talked to did not seem to want to be helpful. I had to pull info out of her. For instance, I asked her if I should be using the tablets everyday. She said I should break the tablet into four pieces and use it every other day. But she left out what I am to use on the days that I DO NOT use the tablets. I'm done!
I told her I am going to be moving in early February of next year to Marysville and asked if they had an office in Dublin in case my mouth guard broke. She said they did not. I stated I would have to find another orthodontist if that happened. She asked if I had the original impression mold of my mouth. I told her the office never sent me the mold and now I have no mold to even take to a new orthodontist. I was dismissed from the office and told "good luck." If this is the kind of service you are accustomed to giving black patients, I won't be going back! read more
