We discussed everything clearly over the phone: square footage, number of bedrooms, and expectations. He quoted me $200-$250. I confirmed again the day before the appointment. On the day of service, they showed up late. Once inside, Michael suddenly started asking about my move-out date. When I told him that the next day was my last day, he immediately changed the price to $380, nearly DOUBLE what we had agreed on. When I reminded him of the original quote, his wife -- who was with him -- became extremely rude and started yelling, saying: "It's either you take it or we leave." She literally pulled him toward the door while I was trying to calmly say, "Let's talk and clarify this." Their attitude was aggressive, unprofessional, and clearly an attempt to take advantage of the fact that I was moving out the next day and under pressure. When I said this felt unfair and dishonest, their response was essentially: "We don't care." Then they left. Because of their behavior, I was left scrambling at the last minute and risked losing more of my security deposit. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch: quote low, then jack up the price when they think you have no choice. Late, rude, unprofessional, and greedy. I do not recommend this business to anyone -- especially if you're on a deadline.

Finding this inventory of Persian rugs from Turkistan, Afghanistan and Iran, was fortuitous as we had been looking for artisanal rugs for some time. Past and current geopolitics may well have repercussions on artisanal rug production and export. The owner has a collection worthy of his 45 years as a buyer and personal collector. We were fortunate a few years ago to pick up a small cottage in Carmel. We realized in order to…read moremake this something that we could potentially retire to we would need to expand it a little and for that needed an architect or draftsman that could design something that was sympathetic to the existing structure, the cottage is pretty funky being built in the 30's and remodeled by no other than Hugh Comstock 10 years later so is bursting to charm and quirks. One such quirk was the odd idea that laminate flooring is A-OK for a period cottage so we figured when we stick the extension on the house we should run hardwood through the whole house including the existing structure to bind the two together and given better continuity. We went out to bid for a few places and they were all roughly in the same ballpark, we chose Mark as he had a better sense of what we were trying to accomplish, he seemed to have an empathy for this and also has a very hands on approach being the crew was him, his son and one other chap. They were very low touch on the property considering the rolled all the way through, they worked well and around the other craftsmen and were incredibly accommodating.
