Been a loyal car customer by buying over 12 cars and referral hundreds of people over 20 years. My biggest compliant is the leadership at this location, uneducated service technicians who can't work on the cars being sold and covered by warranties. They will lie to cover themselves even after admitting they were wrong in the presence of multiple people. Assurants is the new warranty company and they are for lack of better words, garbage! If carmax service techs are able to fix your car just know they are using used generic parts and not manufactured parts for your specific car. I sat for over 8 hours in the service department for them to tell me they couldn't figure out the issue with my car and needed to refer me to the dealership. I am glad my dealership was able to fix my car with original parts. They even found 3 critical repairs that would have caused a fatal crash. When I informed them of this, they stated that's not what the car was brought in for, like really? The service advisors at carmax sanford are really wonderful people, the assurants advisors are a complete waste of air and time, the leadership team at Sanford are only concerned with themselves and not the customers. read more

The sales process was longer than they told me it was going to be, but that's par for the course when buying a car. The real incompetence is the back office and getting actual license plates for the car. They said the plates would take a week to arrive, I called after a week, and they said they had just the paperwork in. When I asked why, the woman on the phone said they only file DMV paperwork once a week. They said they would be in early the following week and I asked them to hold the plates for pick up for the second time. I called at the end of the following week (almost 3 weeks after purchase) and they said they had put them in the mail four days ago. They couldn't provide me with the tracking number and told me once they were mailed out there was nothing they could do. Keep up the great work Carmax back office! read more

She didn't bother to check and problems got kicked down the road until Evelyn ended up dealing with all the issues, in order to close the deal. My father went in for a price for his car to do a trade in. My father was told to go inside while they check the car. NEVER ONCE did someone told my dad that they were going to take a ride in my dad car. After 30 minutes being inside the dealership my dad went back to the car it was filled with smoke and the car caught on fire. Teri Long the general manager was no help. Knowing her employee was left alone with my father car without his consent not once did she show any concern but was just so worry about having the vehicle on the property telling my father he needs to have it remove ASAP.When asking her questions she just kept saying to speak to the insurance company.My father car was destroy under her employee and didn't help my father at all ! The inspector even ask for the footage of the scene and he was told where they park the car there are no cameras. She kept speaking about a travel insurance when I asked if she can tell me what it was her response was she already told my dad, my father knows English but doesn't understand very well when someone is explaining something to him especially under a lot of stress her response to me was she told him everything! It's disgusting how my father was treated during this process like everything was his fault. You should be a shame! read more

I went to CarMax @ Sanford Florida today to test drive a Chevy Trailblazer.When I got back I sat back down where the salesman gave me the keys and Terri Happel Another salesperson came up to me and threw me out of her cubicle, she didn't offer to assist me in any way. She was the most rude salesperson I have ever talked to and I had bought a car there about 4 years ago. I don't think I will buy another car here, the funny thing is I actually bought the truck on the phone and got financed and everything. The car buying process was fine. The vehicle I purchased was fine. It's the business department that I have been having issues with. They do not give out proper information. One person will tell me this. And the next person will tell me that. Some have been rude. Some have been nice. I'm supposed to be receiving a check. And haven't for over three weeks now. I've been told it takes five business days and I've been told t takes ten. Now I'm being told it'll take about 15. Like which is it. This is getting ridiculous. It's not a huge check or anything. I was looking to get out of my car I had purchased 6 months prior because my family needed something bigger to work for us. I'd been shopping around for about a week with no luck. I had a deal somewhere else that the car was not what we expected and decided not to move forward with the deal. And other dealers when I decided I wanted move forward with my loan after a "pre approved" amount, there was always a catch. I decided to try CarMax and received an offer for my car and a pre approved amount as well, I received a call from Akliah and after some phone tag we did finally have a conversation. (Our schedules were always opposite) She went over some options with me and answered all my questions and was very patient and helpful. I looked some more on their site and saw a car that they didn't have there but could be sent. She put the car on hold and I went in when I finally had time. She was not there but Avalon helped me. I told him what I was looking for and my budget. I knew already I had negative equity but I had a decent down payment to help with that. I did tell him I was open to other vehicles and he looked through their inventory knowing what I had for features and trim on my current car and found me a beautiful 2016 Acura MDX SH-AWD with the technology and entertainment package. I didn't even see it on the site so I was very happy when he suggested it. He also knew that my husband was a part of the process even though he wasn't there and knew he would love that model as well! He explained to me how everything factors in with the loan process and how it varies with each bank. My down payment required slightly more than what I was planning but we decided to put in that extra amount and get the car! The process was pretty fast. I wasn't expecting to leave that day with a car but I did! And it's pretty comparable to what I had. Just bigger and the AWD like I needed. They transferred my plates right away and once everything was signed, I was on my way. It really was a great experience. I did not feel pressured to commit to anything until I decided I was ready. The only problem was later that evening I realized the A/C was not working. I did contact Avalon and he gave me the # to call to get it checked by service. I have to wait until Monday to get it looked at and my work hours couldn't get me there in time but since it is going to be a hot weekend, they did get me into a loaner vehicle. I'm kind of bummed I don't get to enjoy the new car but they definitely helped me out. Service team was great as well. Casey made sure I was taken care of and got me a loaner similar in size. And with no charge. This is how you take care of customers! I'm not planning on getting anything soon but when I decide to buy again, I will definitely be back!! read more

If you need honest values that are fair to the market i suggest stopping in and seeing Terri Happel shes really cool. i do want to mention your values will not be the dream you want but they in my deal were very fair and i mentioned that to the manager who is in charge of my appraisal. We had a horrible experience. When we stepped into Carmax we met with Jason Palacios one of the salesmen with Carmax. I originally chose Carmax so that my wife and I could look for a car for her with as least amount of pressure and stress as possible. In the past I have purchased one car from Carmax and my family has purchased at least six cars from Carmax. While at Carmax we had looked at a few cars before test driving any. We kind of wanted to browse the parking lot to see what we liked. We felt very rushed by Jason. At first we thought maybe he was using his phone to help us find a car easier but this later proved to be not true. After test driving two cars, my wife saw a GMC Arcadia that interested her. Jason opened up the car doors and let us browse. He later told us that this car was already on hold for another client. However there was another GMC Arcadia right next to this vehicle. We were told this was the same exact vehicle however this vehicle did not have a sunroof, leather seats or the seats that were in the previous GMC. However my wife really wanted to test drive the car just to see. At this point her decision was between a Mazda suv and the GMC Arcadia. After test driving the GMC Arcadia we came into the store we saw Jason and told him " We will take the Mazda". He replied " are you sure? The gas mileage is not too good with the Mazda" That's strange for one I thought Carmax did not haggle ? Plus if Jason would have just said ok he would have sold a car! I then stated well if the GMC Arcadia that we first looked at which is on hold was available we would probably buy that one. Jason then says let me see what I can do. He spoke with his manager and then all of the sudden the vehicle was now available. Strange.... He said it was an online glitch or was it the way Carmax now does business like any other dealership? We're sitting at his desk and he says ok so you want to do the GMC? I said well we want to test drive it and we will see. Jason then states " It drives the exact same ". I then said " We would still like to test drive the used car before we make a choice" Jason then says " We have a 30 day return policy". At this point it was obvious that Jason did not want us to test drive the car. I said is test driving the car a problem? Jason then says " This would be your 4th test drive and that's the limit" he then Says " I've been here since 9am and I'm not "tryin" to stay all night". He then proceeds to ask about financing as if to talk us out of the vehicle. However inexperienced Jason did not know that we could buy any car on the lot with our credit store and over 10k in our checking accounts ready to purchase a vehicle. We told Jason we would need to test drive the car before we made a decision. So unprofessional Jason went and got the GMC Arcadia for us to test drive. Keep in mind that if CARMAX had not made an error with their online website then this would only be our 3rd test drive since this is the car we wanted originally. While driving the car my wife was so upset about how we had just been treated. No matter how much we liked the car we felt that we could not be disrespected and forced to buy a car. We buy cars once every 7 to 10 years so we wanted to enjoy the experience. Upon returning the car we asked Jason for our appraisal paperwork for our car and asked to speak to the store manager. We spoke with the manager and explained the situation. The manager said this would be a training experience for Jason and hoped that he would learn from this experience. Again no care. As a business owner myself, I would never have someone like Jason on my team! Why would you want someone who does not want to sell cars? If staying late was such an issue they should have switched salesmen for us. We left feeling surprised and upset. I took my wife to carmax because I trusted Carmax and new that it was a great place to buy a car. I'm happy to say that honesty Jason did us a huge favor! We found that all of Carmax's vehicles were overpriced. We went down the street to the Jeep dealership literally less than a mile and purchased a car! We got a 2021 Jeep Compass with 5k miles for $19k. We did however sell our vehicle to Carmax for an awesome price! We were there earlier in the summer and they had offered half of what they just did. So we really made out. My whole point in writing this review is that Jason did not care about our experience or even selling a car, the manager did not care as well. I have a feeling Carmax won't even care. I have yet to hear from Carmax for a follow up. I told my whole family about our experience. My family has stated that they will also never buy a car from Carmax again. My wife and I for as long as we are buying cars will never go to a Carmax again. Walked back into the dealership and he didn't even speak to us. No test drive offered, nothing. Drove away in the Lexus we bought from this dealership a few years ago, unsatisfied and the dealership sold one less car than they could have (and we would have paid cash). Oh well. Not happy with my experience. This dealership has a lot of good reviews, and the place is nice and clean. To be fair I may have just gotten a poor salesmen. Alas one bad experience reflects on the entire company. I arranged for financing in advance, sent in everything they requested. Confirmed multiple times that everything was ready. I had the cash down payment in hand. I was very clear I did not have time to waste, so it was to be test drive the car, fill out the paperwork and be done. The salesman wanted yet another copy of my pay stub. I had already sent in electronic copies. Note as I use direct deposit, I do not have a standard paper stub, but a print out from our intranet site. I had also included my W2 from 2018. I was informed by my salesman that my pay stub was not acceptable, it would have to be in the form of a PDF, which is not a directly available option from the intranet site. I could have printed a copy, scanned it and then saved it as such, but that seemed rather pointless. I even told him he could confirm my employment and salary by contacting H.R. but frankly I got the feeling he could care less about making the sale. In the end I just left in disgust. I contacted Carmax Corporate about the incident and the sales persons attitude and they do seem concerned. As far as doing business with Carmax, on my part, I won't be doing so. At 63 I am too old to accept being disrespected, and my money will spend just as well elsewhere. read more

We had bought our 2 old cars in 2006 and 2007 from Carmax in Orlando by the airport location. After 9-10 years driving the PT Cruiser and Town and Country, we knew we needed new vehicles. So off to Carmax, this time we went to Sanford because it's closer to where we live. This location is clean, with welcoming staff. We initially purchased the first car in August and purchased our second car yesterday. We would have bought the second car a few weeks earlier but there was only 1 Honda CRV available in this location. So we decided to go to other dealerships. After our horrible experience at Holler Honda we went back to Carmax again and started looking for another vehicle. We are fortunate to have Dane as our salesman. He helped us find the Honda model that we wanted and arranged the transfer of the vehicle from Naples promptly. He is very professional,knowledgeable and we didn't feel pressured with both our transactions! He listens to our concerns, and took ample time in showing us the cars, their functionality, and explained thoroughly the paperwork. The whole process was a breeze, unstressful and left the dealership with sheer satisfaction and reassurance knowing that we will enjoy both cars in a number of years.
