I don't recommend CarMax. I bought from here in July. I overpaid for the car then found out that their so called 120/130 point inspection is trash when I had the car checked by my mechanic. This wasn't the end of the world- these things can be fixed; however, they won't respond and seem to have no intention of standing by their product or guarantees. If I'm going to overpay for convenience, I shouldn't then have to pay more to fix things that were guaranteed. read more

The way car buying should be! I saw Jahir Polo in Norwood, MA for a car I purchased this past August. I had been browsing online for a few weeks and found the best option from CarMax (sent from another state for a reasonable price). I chose CarMax because I heard a good review as CarMax for a company from someone else. I found a car I was looking for which was 1) an older model 2) less mileage 3) a price I could afford 4) given a decent price to trade in for my then current car. I still love my new car now!! It's hybrid/electric and had definitely been taken care of previously. I feel I did not get as much for the car I traded in however it was old and had a lot of miles on it. It was nice I arrived for the test drive, spoke with Jahir about this process, and easily found myself a great deal. I hope to have this car as long as I can and will return as a customer if I can! read more

Update: After submitting formal reports and escalating my concerns through the appropriate channels, CarMax ultimately agreed to cover the related expenses. While I appreciate the resolution, this experience reinforced the importance of due diligence and proactive self-advocacy when making such a significant financial investment. I strongly encourage all buyers to thoroughly review their purchase, document any concerns, and file reports with the appropriate departments as needed. Do not hesitate to advocate for yourself and your finances--vehicles are expensive assets, and consumers should not be unfairly burdened with costly issues immediately after purchase. For prospective buyers, especially those who may not have extensive knowledge about vehicles, I recommend obtaining a second opinion. Even if it costs an additional $200 at an independent dealership or mechanic, having a comprehensive inspection completed within the dealership's return window or warranty period can help prevent long-term financial strain. Lastly, I encourage customers to post updates to their reviews. Sharing outcomes--both challenges and resolutions--supports transparency and helps other consumers make informed decisions when purchasing from CarMax or any dealership. read more

Tyler is a rockstar!!! He just sold me my dream car. Tyler was super upfront and honest about pricing - helped me find the BEST financing option for my lifestyle. I couldn't have been happier with the process. He definitely deserves a promotion!!! They gave me a GREAT rate for my previous beatup 2018 outlander. I purchased a 2023 wrangler. This has been my dream car for about 10 years now. read more

Buying this car was simple and everyone from a sales perspective was very kind. However, the battery died within 4 days of owning it and upon calling I was told they had no service openings and could pay for it through an auto parts store. When I got to the store they said they needed clarification with a manager, which makes sense. After a full hour, multiple calls, being on hold for 30 minutes, and leaving a message I have still not been in contact with anyone and the service department is closed over the weekend, potentially leaving me out of work again and with a bad battery for days. Feeling taken advantage of and like I should have spent money at another establishment. read more

CarMax Norwood -- Lack of Transparency & Accountability We purchased our car from CarMax Norwood two years ago. Recently, for the first time, we had to use the second key they provided at purchase. It turned out to be a valet key - something they never disclosed - and it triggered the vehicle's immobilizer system, locking us out of our own car. When we called for help, we were told our warranty wouldn't cover it, that we'd have to go to the dealership, and were even told it was our fault for not reading the owner's manual. A manager was supposed to call us back - no one ever did. The lack of disclosure, the refusal to assist, and the complete disregard for customer service is unacceptable. Buyers beware. read more

disappointed at my recent visit. Bought my last 2 cars there and not sure I will go back

Bought a new car while in an existing lease and felt a bit tired of the dealership "convenience tax" on trading in and getting ripped on a fair price for a quality whip. Enter: the competitive bid. Most dealerships gave me a KBB estimate with a final once the leased vehicle has been inspected. Brought Carvana and CarMax into the mix because they've pretty much aced the process. Lo and behold, the condition CarMax offer was $4k over KBB (Carvana rang in a thousand less than CM). "This can't be," I thought, but decided to bring the car in. In just over an hour, my lease was paid off and I had more than $6k in equity to roll in to my new car (bought elsewhere). The entire process was buttery smooth, and I had a check in hand at the original quote provided online. Everyone was super kind, and I can't stress how, uh, stress-free the whole shebang was. Really appreciate the no-nonsense environment with a focus on making non-professional car sellers (ie, you, me and most people) feel totally at ease. read more

The car I purchased is good. I had a small issue with the bolt that holds the license plate on and what should have been an easy quick fix turned into a nightmare. I'm currently in 6 months since I originally made contact with them to resolve the issue. One call to a local repair shop an appointment that was about a half hour fixed it. After several long calls to Carmax customer service, they agreed to refund me the $79.00 and even rounded it up to $80 (whoop whooop)...another month later...still waiting for my reimbursement check. Another round of phone calls now I'm stupid aggravated, I shouldn't have had to call in again but here I am and now.... Great car HORRIBLE customer service! Won't do this again! read more

Well I was a faithful Customer of Car max for over 4 years until are recent visit which i might add i have recommended over 13 people at the time with in a few years span but from This Recent experience i wont ever recommend any one and i will be going to all platforms withbmy review also the vehicle that we had picked was not as they claimed mechanically it had issues and the person they gave us to work with wasn't trying to work ""Renee"" she wanted a fast sale... and her supervisor a tall white man with long hair bugging everyone who was working for no reason was also not helpful in any way I believe they was mad I even pointed out the mechanical issues so let's just say after this me and my family was treated unfairly. Went happen to good old customer service where they work with you and try to see how they can make a deal SMH very Disappointed and sad with CarMax save your time and money go else where read more

Terrible service at their Norwood,MA location. Have been waiting 2 weeks for the car to become available and getting ZERO updates from their staff. Asked to speak with a manager, was given a 1-800 number .... which I called and then got hung up on. DON'T BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! read more

It was what I expected. High offer online that dropped when brought in. Supposedly the automatic 2013 fully loaded car was shifting hard between 2nd and 3rd gear. So they dropped the price 5000. No idea what this kid was talking about. Car was shifting fine, had mechanic (friend) check it and he thought it was fine. Not sure how qualified this kid was or if it's just a game they play but there was nothing wrong with the transmission. It's now nephews 1st car. read more

For employees they will let you go with a full package of paperwork for no reason at all after working for over one year. They don't give performance reviews and will let you go with no valid reason. They won't show you any complaints. You get the same commission selling a 15k car as a 90K corvette I feel that as I was approaching an age where they needed to offer health insurance they cut me. My customers loved me. They will pull you into the office unsuspecting and cut you loose! Bring in the next person. I would give a 0 review but it won't let me. No team culture. read more

NO! My experience was awful and I got nowhere in the end. Ultimately, they sold me a lemon and their customer service is horrible! Five months now my car isn't drivable, due to sudden electrical issues causing my car to shutdown. They refuse to pay for repairs and my car can't be serviced for another 2 weeks because they are down a technician. Don't bother wasting your time at this location. read more

READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO THERE!! If I could give zero stars I would. STAY AWAY FROM CARMAX NORWOOD, MA!!!!!!! Was in the process of buying a a gmc form Carmax in Norwood. I went to test drive it and some service lights came on and the transmission had a problem. I told our sales man about the problems and he assured me that they would order new parts and fix the car for me. So no biggie right? I got the text that the car was good to go and to make an appointment to get it, I was excited! I got there and test drove it again to make sure everything was good and NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE! The lights were still on and there was still a problem with the transmission! So NOTHING was done! They claimed it was but clearly no one ever teat drove it because if they went over 5MPH they would see it was still a problem. They missed out on 3 trade in cars and 2 sales because of their dishonesty and shitty service work. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE TO BUY OR SELL YOUR CAR! read more

I bought my car here recently, and I couldn't have been happier with the process. I found the process fast, quick, efficient, and the staff, especially the sales staff, were funny, friendly, and made the process simple and streamlined. Are used to transfer plates from my trade-in, so the process was probably a quicker for me than if you get new plates. Having said that, I was very impressed with the two sales managers I worked with, Howard and Tyler. Howard was cool, calm, and collected, and I felt no pressure whatsoever with him. Tyler also assisted me, and he was like a big teddy bear. Just friendly, outgoing, and honest. I didn't get any of the typical "car dealership" kindof vibes. I was able to peruse the lot and no one bothered or pressured me. It enabled me to make a decision in my own time. There are no high pressure sales tactics at this dealership. I actually wonder if the sales associates are even on commission! Overall, I was very happy with the whole process, and I love my new car! read more

Went to Car Max to ask some questions after an appraisal. When I asked for the manager, the rep started mocking and making fun. When manager came, he stepped back when handed him papers. I was wearing a mask, most weren't wearing a mask! I was confused. The entire conversation was awkward especially when that rep kept mocking me that I asked to speak to a manager for more clarification. With this type of attitude, why bother dealing with them?! read more

I wish that it was possible to give zero stars. The WORST customer service I have ever dealt with!! Almost impossible to speak to a person that works at the Norwood location. If you're lucky they will call you back at their leisure. I bought an expensive 2022 pickup truck there with only 20,000 miles on 6/24 and on 7/2 it had to be towed to a local Chevy dealership because the transmission was shot. I then found out that it would be 8 weeks to get the back ordered part. I contacted them and let them know what was going on and that I wanted to trade it for a similar vehicle (if they had one) or get a refund. It has been days and nobody has called me. I can't get a person on the phone after MANY calls. They have no consideration for people's time. It looks like I am going to have to drive an hour each way on a weekend to speak to an actual person and get this resolved. This is costing me time, money and a lot of stress. Hopefully this post will be helpful to others. I will be posting it on every platform that I can think of. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP!!! BEWARE!!!!! read more

Dealing with this Norwood location reminds me of the phrase "stay in school." Use a different Carmax store, even if it is further away. If you choose this one, be prepared to have to repeat your issues to various service members multiple times, since they don't properly record your concerns in their system, and to return for multiple visists because of wrong parts ordered or incomplete repairs. Dave Tripanier and John Conway in service both remind me of Lennie Small- nice guys I'm sure, but they just don't have the mental capacity to do their jobs consistently and proficiently. Disorganized, incompetent, unprofessional... endless series of errors and issues. Will never purchase a vehicle from a Carmax again.

This has been the absolute worst experience buying a car ever. The sales people were nice. However, the business office is full of incompetence. I called 5 separate times and let the phone ring for at least 15 minutes each time with absolutely no answer. They did not know how to deal with any outside financing. Then, after finally getting a "you're all set!" We now have been sitting waiting to take the car for over an hour. read more

I feel so badly about my experience. When I bought my car, the salesman was very convincing about why I HAD to have Maxcare and how it would save me so much money in the long run. I've had my car less than six months and now I'm paying to fix a speaker and Maxcare is covering 40% of the rear struts I have to have replaced. 40% is not close to 100%. This is the same review I left on google but I am going to continue to post it on every location: My experience with CarMax was incredibly disappointing. We paid to have a car shipped from South Carolina to Massachusetts, and throughout the process, communication was severely lacking. I received no notifications or updates on the vehicle's status; instead, I had to log in and manually track it myself. It wasn't until I checked the tracking daily that I even knew the car had arrived. To add to our frustration, our appointment to see the car was scheduled for a Friday evening at 8:30 PM. The salesperson, clearly fatigued from a long day, made it a point to let us know he was tired, making us feel rushed as if we needed to hurry through the inspection of the car. When we examined the vehicle, we immediately noticed several scratches and dents on the rear bumper. To our surprise, we were told that these damages were within CarMax's standards. Additionally, the exterior of the car was unclean, despite being told it had already been detailed. The tires were noticeably worn, resulting in a noisy ride, yet we were informed that they had passed CarMax's inspection. Following the test drive, we discussed the possibility of addressing the scratches and dents with the salesperson. He agreed to inquire about it and promised to provide an update the next day (Saturday) when we returned to finalize the paperwork. Given that Norwood is over an hour away from us, we decided to call on Saturday before making the trip, hoping to resolve the car's issues. Unfortunately, we were met with disappointment once again. The response we received was that since the car was used, some damage should be expected, and it had still met CarMax's inspection criteria. The sales representative claimed that he had spoken to his manager, despite earlier mentioning that CarMax didn't have the same behind-closed-doors communication as other dealerships. When we requested to speak with someone directly, we were told that nobody was available. At that point, we made the immediate decision not to purchase the car and were essentially brushed off with a casual thank you and goodbye. In the end, we found the same make, model, and year of the car we wanted from a different dealership that went above and beyond. They even took the initiative to touch up and buff out a minor chip on the vehicle, all at no additional cost. This experience has left us with a sour impression of CarMax's customer service and their commitment to ensuring the quality of their used cars. And when they tell you to call their customer service line you get a message that no one is available to take your call, please try again at another time. read more

I asked why he said you only applied for the financing. I'm like no I held the car as well I have a proof of email which I am attaching here.
