I took home a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica the week of Halloween, since day two of driving the vehicle I had acceleration issues and recently my front and back breaks completely went. I had to then call the company who told me sorry they cannot fix these things because when they sold me the car they looked through everything and it was fine. I paid a mechanic in my town 750$ for new brakes and routers front and back and a frozen caliber, he said my car was so bad underneath filled with rust that he can tell it was sitting for a very long time. I ate the 750 cost of a car that was "looked at and worked on" less than four months later and Carmax will not admit their mistakes, and have no problem with me paying out of a pocket because I didn't purchase the "extended warranty" On top of this the vehicle I purchased and paid to transfer from Ohio to Attleboro was not looked at on the inside whatsoever, we found in the glove compartment three books of personal blank checks from the prior owners, bills, bank statements and report cards from their children in it which we had to ship to them ourselves!!! I am super frustrated and reached out to Carmax Corporate who legit did just as much as everyone else .. nothing!!! I will never ever consider this company a reliable place, I will ensure that my family and friends know about this circumstance and will choose a much more reliable place next time ... I fell on their grounds tripping over an unmarked sprains or some black pipe line thing. I called out for an employee who ignored me. I have multiple cuts and bruises as my face against the cement causing an instant migraine. Injured both wrists and my knee. I called the number for this particular store and was on hold about 15 minutes. I hung up and asked for sales and they answered. I was transferred to the store and told them what happened and they said a store manager would call back in 15 minutes and no one did. Then we spend another couple hours for them to tell her they can't help her cuz it won't let her take some quiz. They should not have wasted her money or time. $700 to have it delivered to the North Attleboro store. Before it was shipped, Car Max agreed that there were no chips, dings or scratches on the car and in immaculate condition. When I came to pick it up, there was a noticeable chip on the front (ibrahim who took me to the car agreed and noticed it too) mot to mention the bumper was faded in the back of the car with only 1300 miles on it. Bill, store manager, said that it's not a scratch. Not only was he mincing words with me, he was extremely rude. I would never come back or recommend anyone do business here. read more

I was actually decently surprised by my experience here. The salesman started off a little slow with his skills and wooing me in, but then picked up a little. They have a policy of no haggling - the price is the price. Which in one way seems like a good idea, but on the other hand--it sort of lacks motivation. You don't get your hands dirty, sometimes its good to haggle - it signifies commitment on both parties. They provide a base price that is solidly within Blue Books guidelines. Their vehicles are in good shape. They have their own financing company, with higher than average APR (5.9%) - I would finance with someone else if you buy your car here. For reference, we have purchased two cars from CarMax, one in Florida and one in Pennsylvania. And I understand that because of current protocols there are appointment times. But customer service and retention should still be a value that companies strive to maintain. We came in to purchase a hybrid vehicle, but were turned away because there were no available appointments although there were obvious no-shows highlighted on the board. We would have waited, we need a car. To already be under the stress of needing a vehicle, coming to a business that has been reliable, then made to feel as though our business isn't valued...we will definitely be looking for a new car anywhere else. First off I have to say we purchased a car from here in 2019 and the process was great and everything went smoothly. These are used cars not new cars so inspect them really well. There will be things you usually do have to repair on a used car like brakes, tires, batteries, and other minor things so don't expect perfect cars because these are all used. They do have a 3 month return policy. In MA there is also the Lemon Law. So back to review. I used to love this place we have bought one car here and sold three. All experiences were great until recently. We are in the process of looking for another car and went to this location only to find out that now all the cars are locked and you have to now go in and talk to someone to open them. This was one of the perks of Carmax and something they sold themselves on was that you can look at all their cars without having to talk to anyone and sit in and look at their cars without someone standing over you. We left and went to the Norwood location where it was the same except in Norwood we had to wait for someone to come open a car for 15 minutes and were basically tried to take a test drive and then when we finally decided to take a test drive we waited over an hour to test drive the car and finally walked out. I'm so disappointed in this company now because it used to be great and uncomplicated and you could browse at your leisure but they have taken all that away now and are just like any other dealership. Don't think I would go back unless they changed things back to what they bill themselves as. read more

I wish it was possible to give no stars. I purchased a vehicle from here in June of last year. I've had more problems than I ever had with any vehicle I've owned for much longer. After purchasing the vehicle I took it to the dealer for inspection and was told I needed new breaks and my tires were bad. This was less than a month after purchasing the vehicle. Two months ago I had to replace the battery which was still covered under warranty, thankfully. Here we are in March it hadn't been a year since purchasing the vehicle and the cylinder head failed on top of having to purchase four new tires. Do not trust their "4 point inspection". I am a big fan of CarMax. You bring your used car, they appraise it, they give you a fair price and you decide to take it or leave it. It's that simple. No haggling, no pressure, no games. I have sold 3 cars this way already and I found the process very efficient. It might take 1-3 hours at the shop from the time you drive in to the time you leave, but it is usually very fair and stress free. I am good about doing my research and in most cases the appraised value CarMax gives me is very close to Edmund's or Kelly's Blue book value. Sold my car to them, was never told that it takes 15 days for the bank where the remainder of the auto loan is held to be paid. Clearly within half a month I would likely have another car payment due. When I called to see what could be done I was just told about the process being to mail checks. If you do this many transactions with banks, why don't you have their wiring information. When I asked them to contact the bank to tell them the money was on the way so the payment wouldn't be due I was told that I should contact them. I just don't understand how a company that does this many bank transactions can either not clearly state the timeframe, or doesn't have a more efficient process. read more

While the appraisal was taking place, Jay walked me through some options for a used car as I didn't have much preference other than reliability and affordability. He was so thorough, never pressured me and made sure I was informed of my options. I made an appointment on the CarMax website to go see a vehicle with my wife and our 8mo baby. I called ahead to let them know we would be arriving about 30min early. When we got there I noticed that my name was not on the appointment monitor, and the sales associate began looking for my information in the system. He was looking for the vehicle we were coming to see and said it was at another store. Then asked if we were there to look at another vehicle. I showed him on the CarMax app that the vehicle was there. He then proceeded to go into way too much detail about how the system works and how sometimes the website updates before the store computer etc. At this point I don't even know if the vehicle is there and if it is able to be viewed. Meanwhile, we have an 8 month old baby getting very fussy. I had to stop the sales associate in the middle of his lengthy explanation, to simply ask if the vehicle was there and if we could take a look at it. I apologized for being short but he obviously was not catching on that our baby was a ticking time bomb and could go full melt down at any moment. He found the vehicle and told us it was out in the lot to the left. There was another associate with him and neither offered to come with us to show us the vehicle. We "went out to the left" and searched for almost 10min before finding the vehicle hundreds of yards away. It was hot and humid out and these two "sales people" just let us wander the parking lot with an infant. We found the vehicle and it was unlocked, but we could not start it or fully inspect it without the keys. The vehicle did not have all of the features listed on the CarMax website, so it was not a good fit. We walked back to the store and the two associates were there talking - one sitting at his desk and the other standing. I asked about the features listed on the site and what the vehicle actually had and they did not know but said sometimes the site isn't accurate. My wife and I were open to looking at another vehicle but neither of the "sales associates" offered any kind of help or recommendations. Actually the one sitting down said that I could click a button on the website to enter the criteria I was looking for and then I would be alerted when a similar vehicle came in. The car buying process is frustrating and usually comes with pushy sales people. This was the opposite. The associates could obviously care less whether we found a vehicle or not. Neither offered to show us another vehicle or even search the system to see if something else might interest us. I thought it was rude to make us wander the lot on a 90 degree day with an infant - especially since we had an appointment. One of them should have offered to bring the car to us or at least walked out with us to answer questions and point out other options - especially when we are going to invest $22k. I have been to CarMax locations in the past and remember receiving better service. Even on the tv commercials you see the smiling sales associates walking around the lot with customers. I guess that only happens on days that the weather isn't so hot. I am in sales and would never treat prospective customers with that much indifference. The only thing I can figure is that these "sales" people make straight salary or are paid hourly and make no commission - so they have no incentive to care. We are in need of a vehicle and would have probably bought something else yesterday because we already have financing secured. Now we will continue our search for a family vehicle but will not be looking at CarMax North Attleboro... or probably any other CarMax for that matter. read more

I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. At first it seems like a perfect place to buy a car, I was greeted and did not have to wait long for my appointment. Once the appointment started, my original assessment went downhill fast. I was paired with the sales associate Fran, who in my opinion is sexist, more on that later. Fran would not talk to me unless I talked first and then would divert his attention to the man with me. I, a female, am the buyer of the car and he knew this yet he spoke about details with the male as if I didn't know any better. It was a hassle to test drive the car. Once that was finally settled, he pulled around the car, handed me the keys nervously and asked the man with me about my driving capabilities. Fran wouldn't ask me. Why not Fran? This is a sexist move. If I were a man, I doubt he would have questioned my driving abilities all together. I did not feel comfortable with him not addressing me and treating me as an inferior because I'm a woman. I urge people to look for cars elsewhere. There are plenty of places to choose from, and that have better priced cars. A car dealership should want to sell cars regardless of their internal prejudices against women. Carmax, for me you get a 4. Le'ts get to the meat of it - these cars are at excellent prices; no doubt there at all. Here's where it got a little hairy for me... I have excellent credit and found that when you get to the financing end of it - surprise! Carmax has their own financing dept, which I'm assuming depending on the car you're getting and your budget may or may not factor for you. This made an IMMENSE difference for me, I've had a previous car loan and I also had options on my financing in the past. Immediately after submitting my application for the vehicle I wanted - Carmax financing picked me up....this then meant that I wasn't offered any other places to finance. I was offered and extremely high rate for my credit and for the vehicle I was purchasing. Here's what you need to do before you get this far - do your research, get some other quotes from some other banks, and credit unions - I was able to find a rate that was almost 3X less than the one that was offered to me by the Carmax financing dept. As far as the car I purchased - I love it, it was exactly what I wanted and all shined up when I picked her up. To make this stop worth it; if you've found a car on their site that you like - get your quotes ahead of time and find yourself some other financing options right out of the gate. read more

This review relates to the portion of the business that buys used cars. The sales side may be great, I can't comment on that. Anyways. What an awful experience. The situation was a car that was fully functional, but not driveable (no insurance or registration, had been garaged). Due to a change in conditions, we had to sell it quickly. We didn't have time to register it and try to do a private sale, so we decided to look into whether we could just tow it to a 'We Buy Cars'-type buyer. We called around a fair bit, but the problem was, we weren't close enough to any for them to come out. We didn't want to tow it to one to have them refuse to buy it, or for them to take advantage of the situation to lowball it (we were okay with getting a low offer given the situation, just didn't want to get completely screwed). CarMax seemed a good option - a national chain, with a guarantee to buy. I called them - they couldn't give any sort of estimate on the phone, but talked about the company appraisal process, and how they evaluate each car. They spoke about how they offer a consistent, fair (their word) price for each car. After several discussions, we decided it was worth a try. In the meantime, we did our homework. The car had no frame damage or mechanical problems, just high mileage and some cosmetic defects. Trying to be realistic, we looked at several resources (KBB, Edmunds, etc). Got an idea for the numbers given the mileage at various conditions (Good, which would be overly optimistic. Fair, which was accurate. Poor/rough, which it definitely was not, but just for comparison). We tried to get a feel for what percentage of the KBB/etc at each would seem fair to us. 70% again seemed pretty optimistic. 50% seemed pretty likely. 25% felt low. We decided we were hoping for at least 50% of valuation at 'fair'. We made an appointment, and came in. The staff was polite and friendly, very efficient. They again went through the process, while their evaluator took the car for a test drive. The evaluation returned, and we got the results. It matched our assessment pretty closely. No frame damage, no mechanical problems, but with cosmetic defects. The salesman told us all this in a cheerful, optimistic tone, as he then produced their offer. 10% of the worst 'rough' condition number we could find on Edmunds. Like I said, we understood the situation, and that we were going to get a lower offer than we would for a private sale. But to say we weren't prepared for an offer that low is an understatement. Bearing in mind that we had taken on the expense of towing the car there, on their promise of a 'fair' offer, what they threw at us was downright insulting. So the moral here, I guess, is if you have to sell your car on short notice, do *not* try CarMax in North Attleboro. If they think they can get away with it, they will take advantage of you shamelessly. And they will do it with a smile on their face, and a song in their heart. Call a junker and sell your car for parts - you'll get a better price. Two stars for a clean facility and polite staff. read more

When I went to Norwood location I had a great experience with the staff there but didn't find anything I liked. My experience with North Attleboro is completely different. My salesman was nice but not sure the rest of this location really cares to sell cars. I had them bring an Acura MDX from Warwick to test drive and they said it would take a few days but they got the car in and didn't even reach out until a few days later. It took 7 days when I could have driven to Warwick and just drove the vehicle. I showed up early for my appointment and the place looked dead. The manager was chatting with someone while the woman checking people in said it would be about 30mins because she didn't have a salesman available. Seriously??? The manager saw me there and spoke with me before and should have stepped in and said he would bring the vehicle around after I had to wait so long for them to even get the car in. Horrible experience! Went in and needed a large down payment. They asked if I had a cosigner, which out of state I do. They ran everything, and everything was fine. They were going to FedEx all paperwork to him. Well, suddenly, that seems to be a problem. The cosigner now NEEDS to come to the dealership in person. That cannot happen. I explained that I would just take the car on my own, with the high down payment. Now they say they cannot because it is voiding the approval. What the hell??? These people are ridiculous! First off, I have to give this Business three stars because I did not purchase a vehicle from them, and did not see what the back half of their sales process has to offer. Do they "chew and screw" as they say in restaurant lingo? I could not honestly say. They did have inventory on popular models but not everything that I was looking for versus a certified factory dealer. My search continues for a good dealer with a reliable, sturdy vehicle in which to cart around my ever expanding, super picky, restaurant loving person... I'm writing this review because of all the three very large dealers that I visited today, they are the only ones that offered me straight talk and knowledgeable people. All my questions were answered on the spot, and their people understood the models and warranties. The store itself is clean and the people and vehicles appeared well-managed- organized in a logical manner. Between you and me, I had started writing two scathing reviews of others who were either too pushy or tried to many tricks with pricing. One even stood me up despite having a pre-scheduled appointment... I was literally "parked" in the lot with cash in hand! Well, in the end I decided to write one positive review instead. I don't like writing bad reviews unless it really makes my blood boil, and today some of these guys were no help... no matter how much loud arrogance, extreme pickiness, and bad manners I threw at them! Anyway, Carmax gets my vote for best initial experience, good people, and they talk straight - at least on the front end of the process - Overall they were the best part of my experience today among all others, including 'old local favorites', and the gargantuan auto-mile giants. read more

This review is for the "sell you car to carmax" portion of CarMax... I took my car to this CarMax to have it appraised for purchase. What they came up with as a value (easily $3,500 below KBB) is irrelevant because of their appraising job... When the "experienced appraiser" looked at my SUV which has 4WD with locking differentials she apparently had no idea what she was looking at. Not sure how it works everywhere but my SUV can (usually) take 1 or 2 feet of moving before it "locks" into place, we've had 6 of this same car and they have always been that way. On top of that incompetence when she went to put it in 4LLC she said "I don't know what it was doing, it was beeping everything", when you put my SUV into 4LCC (4WD Low Locked Diffs) It beeps to let you know that you are in a setting meant for only short travel at low speeds... ANY competent car person would know this... I was expecting to get KBB fair for my car considering the mechanics were in perfectly working condition as is the interior. The outside has a few scratches that are normal on a 10 year old car which is why I was expecting it to be classified as fair (The car also only has 85k miles). Because the appraiser was incompetent she wanted me to come back another day to have a tech look at it to see if it really was working, when I asked her how much she knocked off the price because of the 4WD "issues" she said only $500, would have still been $3000 less than I was looking for and $2500 less than I would have accepted... If that really is all she knocked off for the issue than I have to assume CarMax really is just ripping people off... Lucky for me I didn't really need to sell the car and I can just wait until I buy a car from a real dealer and trade it in for a better price. My advice, don't even bother trying to sell your car to CarMax, judging from the spiel I got while waiting I wouldn't buy one from them either. read more

I recently bought a car from this carmax location. I could not love the car, experience and salesperson more!! A few points below: -My car is perfect. 2010 Rouge with 24k miles at an extremely reasonable price. The carfax is perfect the dealership is reputable (which isn't often the case now a days). Our salesperson was Jared who was wonderful. -Go in prepared and you'll have an absolute BREEZE of an experience. 1.5 hrs on a Saturday and I left with a clean, registered, inspected and plates on car. Granted, I did my homework in comparison before I got to carmax. I had my loan documents ready, my insurance signed and faxed to them the day before so they could complete. Once they got the necessary docs they handled everything else. It was the most enjoyable car buying experience I could have hoped for. I would recommend them to anyone I can tell. read more

We had an excellent experience here buying a new car and trading in my old beater Toyota Camry. I'd told my wife when we arrived that if they offered us even $1000 it was a done deal. That is exactly what they offered and we accepted no questions asked. We found a 2011 Kia Sportage in New Haven CT that we liked and had it transfered over for no cost. Went in on a Friday evening to get most of the paperwork done and then came back Saturday to finish everything. Very little hassle and our salesman (a British guy whose name escapes me) was fantastic and had some great stories to tell about selling Jaguars to Manchester United players back in the 60s and 70s. Ask him, he's happy to share them. All told a great experience. We are very happy with the new car and will definitely consider using Carmax again in the future. read more

Wow!! I am not even sure where to even start with this horrific place. The lack of RESPECT is a big one. This is BY FAR the absolute WORST and DISHONEST dealership I have ever dealt with in my days!! We had a car transferred in from another location (20 mins away), car arrives 3 days later but they just sit on it, paperwork was all signed, car was added to insurance, was told for a several days car was all set, spoke to STORE OWNER about the abnormal time taken, he was very apologetic, offering free oil changes etc, we finally are told car is ready (after they had it for far too long) and we can pick it up, I called back to confirm, (this ENTIRE process was bogus and I should have seen that) we go sign papers, look at car and manager Brian (who seemed nice) had an odd reason why it was in the garage and was super weird when I was Commenting on how great the car was, like he was a robot with zero emotion. We head back home, next day car is ready, we confirm again, lo and behold I get a weird call from management at north attleboro carmax saying something went wrong and now car can't be picked up. No answers, no reasons. My feeling is that the car was super nice 2019 with 7k miles, we really think he had a buddy that wanted the car and pulled it from us and sold to him. My sister called to inquire about it, and was not on their site, she called na carmax and was told it was on hold and if holder didn't pick up at 7 they would relish vehicle. Funny cause here it is 4 days later and vehicle is still not showing up. Shocker. This place is a joke. Completely unprofessional and management is laughable at best. I should have seen the signs at the 1st call but didn't. We believe brian took that car and sold it to a friend or bought it himself.II was all too shady and cat still is not on the website. Easiest car buying experience I've ever had. Zero pressure to buy from the sales team. I just bought a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and I could not be happier. There was a couple of things that I noticed after I brought the car home (small crack in windshield and low fluids). I went in tonight to be reimbursed for my inspection sticker, and the manager on duty scheduled me to have everything fixed and even set me up to have a loaner to get to work that day. Buyer beware! Apparently this company doesn't honor their warranties for the last few hundred miles. I brought my car in THREE time for a check engine light and all three times I was told I needed a oil change and that's what set the check engine light off. Seemed suspicious the second time, I told them I didn't believe them the third time as I had 300 miles left for my warranty to cover any issues. And here I am, less than 3,000 miles over warranty and looking at needing a $2,000 out of pocket repair. The sensor was linked to setting off my check engine light, the one that I was told three times at this location was going off due to needing an oil change. Worth noting that I'm female and went to each repair appointment alone. I'll be getting the repair done out of pocket elsewhere. Do not give these con artists ANY of your business, you'll regret it just like I do. 0 out of 10 would recommend this location or this company, I'll be going back to a traditional dealership for my next vehicle purchase instead of this greedy, dishonest company. read more

I can't speak for buying a car from here but had a great experience selling one. I had a Fiat 500 that everyone was low balling me to buy. They actually came in almost twice as much as anyone else offered me. Why I gave them 4-stars instead of 5 is they wouldn't give me a ride I had to take an Uber out of there. They're a car dealer they should give customers a ride 5 miles away. read more
