Today on New Year's Eve we had to sell our son's car because of a work move to London. After much research we decided CarMax was the perfect option for us. It's our first experience with this business. The majority of paperwork and appraisal based on car information etc can be done online once you set up an account. We made an appointment for physical evaluation & appraisal of the car at The West Ashley facility. The whole process was super fast & extremely efficient. We were given the value of our car via bankers check. Great service when selling a car!!!

Solid team at CarMax. Great selection and variety of cars, efficient purchase and check out system, spotless showroom and repair center and a good chill environment, but the collaborative teaming environment and support was the tops. They nailed down the high end customer experience. Enjoyed working with them on my last car purchase.

Someone will get a great car

Right now well maintained used cars are in demand. 30 days ago i had a very well kept 2017 camaro, it had 28200 miles washed waxed every week. My neighbor just sold his car via carmax and told me i should let them see my car. I did that afternoon just to see its value, I paid 25k only 8 miles, so I knew every mile. They checked my car inside and out 30 min later the person came out and handed me a offer, 23,000 my payoff was 5800, Someone is getting a great car, i was expecting them to pull the Car Dealer game of 12 to 15 k lowball. No games fai offer, just make sure you have a ride home, they dont give rides

    My new preowned car.

One star for an assortment of vehicles. False pretenses for approval, even after plans to put a down payment. This company is a scam!

BEWARE OF THEIR SCAM BEFORE SPENDING YOUR VALUABLE TIME AND $$$$. They won't pick up the phone…read morebut instead all the recorded messages send you to their website to see what parts they have on hand. On their website you search by the make model and part name. It comes up that they have the part (in my case a rear bumper and step bars). So I rush down on my first day off and walk in. The lady pulls up the vehicle in their system, gives me a quote for the part I want. Satisfied with the cost I paid my entry fee ( mandatory to walk out on the yard). I go and load up all my tools and make my way out to the vehicle that I was interested in and it was stripped already of all the parts I was interested in. So the scam is, they lead you to believe they have the part with their "fancy" website with lookups for parts, then charge you an mandatory entry fee to find out they don't have what they claimed to have. Why can't businesses just be honest with people these days?

I was so excited when I heard about LKQ, that I forgot my tool bag at home. After signing in and paying a three dollar entrance fee, the goodly older gentleman lent me the companies four way lugnut wrench. After being furnished with a printout of Make, Model, Row and Space -- off I went into the sea of twisted metal. Fourteen vehicles fit the description and in no time, I was spun around and lost my bearings on the first three cars that I had looked at. The Ford section was not well labeled, and many of the cars had been really stripped down to the nuts and bolts. Fortunately I popped a trunk that was not giving in too easily and Eurika, I struck spare tire treasure. A perfect Goodyear, nice treds, no rust and tire iron. Hauling it back is no fun, but wheelbarrows are available for extra heavy, longer distance carries. Twenty one dollars for all was an excellent deal and the front desk helped erase any questions floating in my head of bolt configuration.

I LEASED A LEMON!! Whewww .. where to start? Customer service! Let's start with the good, April…read more13th, I visited DriveTime for a car. The young lady that worked with me did an absolute phenomenal job! Very attentive, a lot of active listening, very professional. I was recommended to her by her colleague after he noticed he wasn't successful in selling or convincing me to purchase a car. & Although it didn't work out with him, he didn't let me leave feeling hopeless with no luck, which was appreciated. With the young lady, she was very understanding & sympathetic with my situation and together we found a car. I came back on Monday, April 14th 2025 to pay the down payment totaling $1100, I left with my car happy asf! April 18th, 4 days later, the car was giving me shaking & vibration in the seat, steering wheel and floor base at 50/55mph, but later went away. April 21st, the vibration & shaking returned. I called DriveTime to let them know about this and was recommended to take the car to Firestone on Savannah Highway so that they can file a claim with Silver Rock, who the warranty is through if there are mechanical failure during my 30 day warranty. This specific location was highly recommended by the guy at DriveTime & I quote "I highly recommend the Savannah Highway location because they're more familiar with Silver Rock and how they operate". (THEY ABSOLUTELY SUCK! but that's a different story for a different review) I scheduled my appointment & took my car there on April 26th. Explained to them what was the issue, 4hrs later I left with a wheel bearing replacement, the one that was on the car was ready to pop, per the technician/mechanic. April 29th 2025, I took my car back because the same problem occurred, I was then advised that the car would be kept overnight to have the brake pads & rotors replaced, parts had to be ordered. After having the services completed, my brakes squeaked so bad it sounded like a school bus & the dang car still was shaking at a certain speed! Atp I'm irritated. May 16th, 2 days past my 30day warranty mark at $0 deductible, my engine light started blinking as I was driving and my car began jerking/hesistating and stalling to accelerate past 40mph. I immediately took the car to Firestone who told me that I couldn't be seen for service until Monday or Tuesday (5/19 - 5/20). Drive time was just down the road so I made my way there but stopped by AutoZone for the engine like check & was given a P1326 code. I got to DriveTime where I was told there was nothing they could do because they don't have the authority. I was provided the contact number for their customer sales relations department. I received a case manager and suggested places to take my car anywhere else in network other than Firestone. Took it to precision tune who ran their diagnostic test & told me about the code P1326, Replace Engine Block Assembly! Pretty much the engine was no good! because there was 0 oil in it and its been that way at the time of purchase. Till this day I am praying and hoping that a new engine is not needed because the warranty is giving me a hard time with coverage. I absolutely regret purchasing this vehicle with DriveTime! And no I won't be recommending the business to anyone. I chose to keep everyone's name anonymous, but I do know every last one that I had an encounter with. All down to the mechanics at Firestone. To know me is to know I'm big on reviews and I'm very thorough with the ones I give! Shop at your own risk, LITERALLY! ** update .. the engine has to be replaced
