I cannot begin to express what a positive ecperience it is to go to the dentist here!…read more I know more than a few dentists personally and have been to many over my lifetime. This practice stands head and shoulders, in every regard, above every dental practice I know of. Not only are they medically/technically knowledgeable and professional, the positive environment and "can-do" attitude of everyone from the administrators right through to Dr Sohbi takes away any apprehension of discomfort and especially money-grubbing feeling I get at most other dental practices. I have recommended this office to half dozen or more friends and all of them really happy. Especially two of them who were both really afraid of dentists. They both said Dr Sohbi was not only calm and kind, but did major work over several months without any discomfort.

Kingwest Dental does not care for nervous patients with care. They refuse to re-do my nightguard (one of the reasons I switch dentists was to get the 3D tech for the nightguard production) as it does not fit. They don't care, they already got their money. My teeth hurt. My coverage is only for one nightguard (obviously) and they wont help. The last cleaning I had the woman gouged me and also put the blood and plaque on my shirt and in my hair and was pretty mean and rude to me. I felt afraid halfway through and my neck was hurting so I asked for a rest. She typed on the computer with the same gloves she was using to go into my mouth. It made me feel sick. Finally, I'll say that I specifically noted that I need female clinicians (i'm a survivor of violence, which I shared in confidence) and they didn't respect that .I guess they found it amusing to see me panicked as the male dentist came to check in on me on my second visit. I gave them one more chance after that and that is when I got butchered and covered in gunk. Super nasty. Very disappointing.

They wanted to make money out of my insurance I guess, so their hygienist spent 1 hour on half side of my teeth. Basically, to waste time, she drilled so much that it damaged a nerve and I started bleeding. I called them to tell them I have blood oozing out and was told to take salt water gargle. Finally, at 1 am I had to go in an ER because the blood wouldn't stop. I had to spit blood every 45 sec, because my mouth would be full. ER couldn't stop the blood, because it was a dental issue I guess. Next morning, I went to them and they (with a straight face) heard everything and asked me to go to a specialist. They booked an appointment for me for that afternoon. It's was already 24 hours of no sleep, or food, or sleep. After 24 hours and blood all over and around me, I was finally fixed with stitches. However, it seemed odd that they said I had six cavities. They very patiently walked me through all the work that would need to be done, around $1,500 with my insurance. I'd never had a cavity before, it had only been a year since my last appointment, and nothing about my life had changed. I put off scheduling fillings and scheduled an appointment with a different dentist to get a second opinion. This was a year and a half ago and I've since seen two different dentists, neither of which said I had any cavities. When I mentioned this to one of them, she said that while there are two spots she's keeping an eye on, they don't need to be drilled. Because they haven't gone more than halfway through the enamel, they may resolve on their own. Dentistry is a subjective art. People have different thresholds for when they want to have fillings put in. I prefer to not drill holes in my teeth if it's not strictly necessary. You may feel differently. Just know that they set the threshold for drilling very high.

This is for the Scarborough branch. Expensive but equipments are primitive. Dentist is nice but…read moretold me I have cold sore even when it's not. It's called angular chelitis not cold sore. My appointment was 3pm but I had to wait until 430pm before I was seen. Staff were nice and phony but having no respect for time is unprofessional. The reason is that it's new - not my problem if the clinic was not ready to operate. Blinds in the dental room where I sat was filthy dusty disgusting. Visor for the eyes that I was asked to wear during the dental exam was sticky and cheap - crafty clinic I suppose. I had come for a specific treatment, paid 300 for a mediocre dental exam and xray as the equipments were not even state of the art. Computer monitor was blinking. Did not discuss nor show the xray after. Did not discuss nor show what needs to be done after. They just gave me the treatment plan on a paper after. How would I know if there was really cavity ? Anyway, I called after a few days to speak with someone responsible, the manager at the main branch was apologetic but the manager at Scarborough was uncouthly. Arrogant lady, considering I am a cash paying patient without health insurance. During my visit, I was baffled when the manager Gin introduced the dentist Lila by her first name. I checked their website for the doctors but only Dr Arlene was identified. They later confirmed that Lila is general dentist. It was strange that the manager calls the doctor by first name, too casual, got me confused and lack of trust. I bet she would not call Dr Arlene, just Arlene. The manager Gin or however it is spelled, invalidated my concerns but pointing out that I was happy when I left and my call took her by surprise, told her I was being polite and I needed time to think. She bragged that my bill was supposed to be 313 but she gave me a 13 dollar discount so I asked her to email the bill with items but the discount was not even there, which means pricing was not legit. You should price your services accordingly. I asked Gin for my xray copies but she only intended to email it, Miss, I would not pay 150 for xray that you can't even print. I regret listening to my sister and visiting this Filipino clinic. My sister had gone for the first time and got way more with her 300 but I got less because they knew I'm paying and as when I talked about my sister's file, Gin shut me off that my sister's file was confidential as we are both consenting adults. I agree with this, is this why you never confirmed my appointment to my phone and would always try to reach my sister like I was a minor? And when I couldn't answer your call today as I was on the phone with Tam, you called my sister again like it was her business. Gin was sarcastic and mocked me when I said that it was not state of the art, but this is a fact and I am not ashamed of it as I have been to way better clinics, and considering your price point - it's a shame. I grew up visiting a dentist and never afraid or conscious about sitting on that chair. I hope this reaches Dr Arlene. No one should ever have to go through this.

NOT SAFE FOR DISABLED/HIGH RISK INDIVIDUALS…read more I have been a patient at Amberlea Dental since I was a young child. I am someone who is high risk for COVID-19, and needs to continue taking precautions. The last few times I have been to Amberlea Dental, the receptionists have been very bad about wearing masks, taking them off to speak, wearing them incorrectly, etc. When I entered what was supposed to be my most recent appointment this week, every single person at the reception desk had their masks under their chins. I firmly pointed it out and asked if they could put them on, and they all sighed, one giving an audible "oh God." Because of this extremely rude response, I brought it up to my dental nurse, and explained how their refusal to wear masks makes it dangerous for me to access treatment. She was dismissive, and told me if I could speak to the manager if I wanted to. I said I would like that, which was when I then learned the manager was one of the unmasked receptionists. She fought with me publicly, stating that she didn't need to wear one as it's a "personal choice." I told her that as a healthcare worker, she has a responsibility to make her facility accessible to disabled and high risk patients. She said it wasn't any of her responsibility, and said to my face that she doesn't need to keep at risk patients safe. I said that infecting a disabled or high risk person could result in their death, and tried to confirm that she was saying this meant nothing to her. I said, "so you don't care if you give a disabled person COVID and kill them?" and she responded, "no. Why Would I? That's not my problem." During the argument she also tried to tell me that COVID isn't an airborne virus, when I said her not wearing a mask makes it dangerous for me to be treated because air circulates throughout the building, she told me her "mouth particles" can't get through the closed door, displaying a clear lack of understanding of how the virus even works. She tried to back herself up by saying that she doesn't mask anywhere else either, and then got frusturated when I said that was an even larger issue because it puts the high risk in even more danger to be exposed to her. The entire reception team and my dental nurse ganged up against me, talking over me and cutting me off in the waiting room in full view of other patients. I was asked if I was going to "stop arguing and go to my appointment, or leave," so I walked out, and will be seeking a new dentist. This kind of unprofessional and eugenicist behaviour from any healthcare worker, but especially one that works in an environment where at risk people have no choice but to be maskless, is abhorrent and disgraceful. They do not care in the slightest for the safety of vulnerable people in the community, and have no issue voicing it loudly and publicly. To all other high risk people, save your time and your stress and go somewhere else. I am beyond disgusted and shocked.

I've been going to this dentist for over 20 years and even though I now live downtown Toronto, I…read morestill go "home" to have everything done at this location. I'll admit that you need to be careful when choosing a hygienist - some of them are really rough and others are not so much (and I think this is true of almost all dental offices), but all of them are fairly talkative and make the time in the chair go by pretty quickly. You always get a choice of cleaning paste flavor (cherry, bubblegum or mint) and when I was a kid, they had wicked fluoride flavors, tutti frutti. The best part about this place is that they'll work with you to make sure you get what you need. I was without benefits for a while and as such, they were willing to try and keep the cost down for the sake of my wallet. My boyfriend is in need of a custom nightguard and we need to front some of the cost as my benefits doesn't cover it all and they were more than happy to offer him a payment plan to ensure he got his night guard sooner than later (and they were more concerned with him getting the nightguard it seemed!). When I was a kid, there were only 2 dentists or so here and now the number has increased quite a bit, but all of them are very nice, very thorough and explain everything as they go along. I had my wisdom teeth out last year in-office (no hospital for me) and recently had one cavity filled and another existing filling redone and both experiences were good. When I had my wisdom teeth out, I had complications by no fault of the dentist, but they were willing to answer questions and had me in just to make sure everything was progressing properly when I was worried (and no charge on that visit). The two very best things about Amberlea Dental are: The Staff: All of the front office staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating (and when you're due for a cleaning, you always get vice nice pleasant voicemails asking for a call back) and they all seem to care about the patients The Hours: They're open until 9PM almost every night of the week, open on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. This makes it easy for you to get off work at 6, head to get your teeth cleaned at 7 and be home in time for a late dinner. Even for me coming from Toronto, I never have a problem if I'm running late: I've had to call them a few times and they've been nothing but accommodating. If you live in the area and are trying to decide what dentist to go to, this is a safe bet!
