We recently went back to Carlson's upholstery and had them re-upholster two sofas and a chair. We could not be happier with the friendly service and great craftsmanship provided by Allan, Pat, and company at Carlson's. We are repeat customers - had them re-do a love seat a few years ago after another local company botched it (we live in Long Beach). They do a fast turnaround, picked up and drop off the (heavy) furniture. I can't say enough about how fantastic Mr Carlson was when I went to get a foam pad made for my chair to deal with neuropathy when I'm sitting. Not only did he find the right density foam for the pad, but he explained the qualities of different types of foam, had me test the foam, and explained how the high quality, high density foam would seem a bit hard at first, but would soften up with use. He even suggested 'walking' on it a while to break it in. He then explained homeopathic approaches to help deal with my nephropathy through exercise and dietary supplements. This store has been operating since 1939, which was the first indication that the owners must have been doing incredibly good work for a very long time. My first indication of that was last year when I called about having my office chair reupholstered. It wasn't hard to tell today that I had been speaking to Mr Carlson back then by the honest, straightforward answer he gave me. His recommendation was to go out and buy a new office chair, as they can be found at pretty modest prices these days. Who the heck turns away a sale in this day and age by suggesting a potential customer find a store where they can find what they're looking for cheaper? All the 5 star reviews here on Yelp are all your really need to see to get a feel for the degree of integrity of this business.
