I've never had furniture redone before, since I've never had furniture not made out of particle board crap like stuff from IKEA. Since I inherited a nice piece of furniture from a beloved family member, I wanted to have it restored to its former glory. Pat and Alan did a great job on our very large sectional. We had them reupholster, remove all the feathers in the back cushions and replace with their foam. There were many fabric options to choose from at their warehouse. They were able to pick up earlier than we thought and it did take about 2 weeks, but the sectional was huge and they were doing a lot so we knew it was going to be time consuming. We asked for it to look exactly the same as the original in regards to the pleating on the arms and the edges of the cushions. We're very happy with their work and the whole process. I went here to get my dining chairs redone due to Costco's cheap material used on the seats. The chairs and table are great, but the seats were made of very thin vinyl. I went there and the gentleman told me how much verbally. I filled out the paperwork and dropped off 4 chairs. He said to drop the rest on Monday and they can knock them out by Wednesday. I brought them my mother-in-law's mid century modern sofa, chair and ottoman and they did a great job on them. She was very happy that her old favorites were given a beautiful overhaul! This place was a lifesaver!!! Truly, if you get a sofa from one of these crappy furniture stores (looking at you, Jerome's) and it looks bad after just a year, take it to Carlson's for new life! I got a couch from Jerome's and after a year, the cushions looked like a family of 10 had been sitting on them. Disappointed, I called Jerome's to replace the cushions and six months later, they finally sent the right cushions. However, they gave me no way to insert them into the couch covers. Oy. Carlson Upholstery have completed a few projects for me recently - covering dining room chairs and also covering a lounge suite and ottomans. They have a wide range of fabric types, colors and patterns from which to choose. They also provided me with great advice on practical issues I was having such as: - strengthening of the dining room chair legs and new bases and foam in the seats. - improving the seating height for the lounge suite as this was a bit low for modern times (they suggested replacing the legs under each piece with new legs that are two to three inches higher so that sitting down or standing up is easier). They provided quick service and I did make use of their pick-up and drop-off service for the larger lounge suite set. The furniture looks GREAT and I am very happy with the quality of work on these very old furniture pieces. (The lighting in the photos does not do justice to the color or shades - Draylon and velvet-type fabrics do that - it looks fantastic in reality). read more

Alan (the owner) and his team are incredibly personable. They understand what customer service means. They are ready to please, let's just put it that way. Love this old fashioned way of doing business. You don't pay until the furniture is done, no down payments or anything...complete trust system. You can bring a picture of your furniture into the shop and he'll give you a quote based upon the piece and the fabric you choose. They then will come to your home to pick up your old furniture with their truck and as soon as it is reupholstered they will schedule a time to deliver it to you. We had a love seat, and recliner done and they did a fabulous job. We also had them replace the foam in the cushions in our already good sofa (they were willing to re-stuff the cushions for us since they had flattened with time). Their style is firm, they like to reupholster cushions and back of sofa nice and firm, which is how we like it as it will last for a long time. Their service is quick; the love seat took 4 days and the recliner took 8 days. If we ever need re upholstery again, we'll go back to Carlson Upholstery for sure. *Side note: No matter where you get your furniture done the materials that are used (the foam) has formaldehyde as well as other chemicals in the fabric (this is standard in the industry), you won't die, but for those like me with sensitivities to chemicals I had to open the windows every day for about a month before the fumes went away. I have to do this with new furniture and rugs no matter where I buy them from. Not everyone will be sensitive to the chemicals like me though. read more
