I have received severe stomach issues and severe diarrhea and possible gastrointestinal infection or food poisoning from eating here last night on October 17-2025 last night atound 8:00 pm I ordered a simple burger and the last bite of my food taste like if were some sort of human or animal feces the smell and taste was so horrifying I threw up and had to question myself what did I just eat? I got off the bus here to do my grocery shopping at Fred Meyer, and after walking through the very clean property, I could see that they were observing quarantine rules. I thought "great. I can do this." Not having a car, I had to get in the drive-through order line on foot with a big line of cars, and everybody was courteous and gave me plenty of room. I placed my order and walked to the outdoor tables where the very nice young crew member brought my order It was perhaps the most tasteless combo burger and fries I have ever tasted. I checked the hamburger to make sure the burger patty was properly cooked. It was perfectly cooked. I didn't feel I could trust their prep as I had never eaten there before. I didn"t know a burger combo could be tasteless. To add injury to insult, they charged me $11.38 for this tasteless food. My solution to this problem? I'm not going back again. When it comes to fast food you can't expect much, but I do expect it to be hot and fast. We came here a little after 1am and weren't quite sure of what to order.. We left with a large number one, chicken tenders combo and two waters. The fries were old and disappointing, the chicken tenders were hot but they were just okay and my burger was good but a little old as well. I've worked in fast food for a short while and I know things get hectic, but once food sits out for a certain amount of time it needs to be discarded!! No exceptions! These guys are AMAZING!!! I started stopping by here in February 2016 and been stopping by once to twice a week. Every time their Big Carl Combo is bangerrang. It's never really busy for such a gem of a place, but myself and most of my coworkers stop there for lunch nearly everyday. Everyone has had a super positive, never a complaint about the food, experince. I think they flame broil their meat which you can taste the true flavor of the meat. Doesn't taste like it's been in a warming tray or microwave at all. The fries are perfect. Hardly salty at all and never any excessive grease. Sometimes it seems like the drive through employees get a little overwhelmed. Which is natural for fast food service that has some busy times and new trainees on shift. ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!!! My credit card numbers from TWO cards were stolen from this restaurant! On June 29, 2015 and July 1 2015 I stopped at the Gateway Carl's Jr. and ordered a burger from the drive-through. A few days later I got a fraud alert from one of my credit cards, one used ONLY to pay one bill. A few days after that, I got another fraud alert from the other card I used on my second visit. The fraud alerts included multiple attempts to purchase online goods and sign up for a Christian dating service. I downloaded my transactions for the last 8 months for the card that's used for the ONE bill only. The only other transaction was Carl's Jr. When I got the second call from the Fraud Department at my Credit Union? Guess what - Carl's Jr was the last transaction on my card. I went and spoke to the Credit Union who suggested I might speak to the manager at the Gateway Carl's Jr and warn him/her about what is happening at the restaurant.. A young man there told me the manager was gone for the day and he was in charge. I very patiently and quietly explained the situation to him. He said he did not understand. Once again I explained the situation and then he once again said he did not understand. At this point I simply asked him for a piece a paper and a pen to write down my contact info and asked him to give it to the manger. The young man wrote down the manager's hours for the next day for me on a slip of paper from the cash register then took my contact info that I'd written for the manager. Not once did I get loud, obscene, or vulgar with this young man. However it was very frustrating to try to talk to him and I did tell him if I did not hear from the manager I would call the police. The next day I received a phone call from a gentleman who informed me he was the manager of the Gateway Carl's Jr restaurant. The gentleman did tell me his name once at the beginning of the conversation but I did not write it down and he never repeated it. The manager on the phone asked me what the problem was. I was trying to explain about both my cards and he kept interrupting me. And so the conversation went. I would get maybe three words out before he interrupted again. Finally he went into an angry tirade about how sorry he was that my card was compromised and that people steal identities every day. He said I could not prove it was stolen at his restaurant and that he had thirty employees and he could not, would not investigate or watch all of them because he had a restaurant to run. And did I have any idea how many calls he gets about someone stealing card numbers? After all his employees simply swipe the card nothing else. He also told me that I could call the police for all he cared, because that was the only way he was going to watch any tapes was if the detectives showed up and asked for them. Besides my card was a Visa card and the police would not get involved in something that cost a burger since Visa will just replace my money anyway. He then asked me if there was anything else he could help me with. When I told him no he informed me to have a good day and hung up. I sat there stunned looking at my phone. My wife and my two neighbors who had dropped by had to get my attention because I was simply numb. I love their 1/2 pound Mile High burger with no onions. It was my favorite burger. A guilty pleasure I hid from my wife who wants me to eat better. But I don't think I will ever buy it again, or if I do it will not be from Gateway Carl's Jr. read more

I am so freaking annoyed with this place. I used to go here late at night & there was this blond guy who was super nice & didn't make me wait an hour to get food. He wasn't super chatty, but he did his job well, apologized if it took too long & usually even remembered which condiments I liked (& never skimped on them). Now whenever I go, I get one of a few rude females who take Forever to get me my food, never apologize for how long it takes, & demand I pay Extra for condiments. Excuse me, what? I spent over $12 on One Meal at a Fast Food place& I have to pay if I want more than one ranch?! I am writing about ALL Carl's Jr. restaurants. They have two recently added items on their menus, and both are exceptional. First, the Monster Biscuit, which contains cheese, egg, sausage and bacon in a delicious fresh biscuit. I'm drooling when I write this. Secondly, the Jim Beam Burger, which is out of this world! It has a tangy bourbon-based bbq sauce, tiny, crispy onion bits, cheese and lettuce. The drool is now dripping down my chin. Good location for fast food :) I'm not a fast food superfan, but if I'm in a hurry or just want a quick cheap eat then Carl's is a good go to in general because I think the quality of their meat and their large sandwich sizes make me feel like I'm getting value for the money and can moderately enjoy my meal. Also, the biscuits they started doing are the best, freshest biscuits for breakfast sandwiches I've had from nearly any restaurant. This particular location of Carl's is one of the best fast food locations I've seen in years. They try hard to keep the restaurant clean, make sure their customers are happy, and serve hot and accurate orders. They still make mistakes sometimes on the orders but in general I think they're right far more than they're wrong and they usually seem actually happy to work there, both of which are hard to find in a typical fast food restaurant. Sure, it's just a fast food place, but it's my PREFERRED fast food place. I just like the burgers at Carl's Jr. better than others. I like the way their burgers and chicken filets are charbroiled. My favorite menu item is the Original Thickburger. Its name describes it. . .the patty is a bit thicker that many others, and that extra thickness keeps if from getting completely dried out like many others. Also, the lettuce on it is crispy (rather than all limp) and there are two generous slices of tomato. On top of that, the bun is a brioche style bun, which has a nice buttery taste. I think Carl's Jr.'s Thickburger beats out all other fast food burgers. This location at Gateway is a bit more pleasant to go to than the one at 82nd and Powell where there are sometimes panhandlers lurking nearby and some have come right up to my car to ask for money. Nobody has ever bothered me at Gateway, so they are my preference. read more

Sometimes you gotta! For me it's all about the double western bacon cheeseburger combo with large crisscuts. There's no better deal than a greasy and tasty burger for dirt cheap. Honestly, as cheap as the ingredients are, the double western always delivers and quenches my larger than life appetite! I love the combination of the crispy onion rings with their tangy BBQ sauce and the cheese gives a nice richness to the burger along with the bacon. The only down side about the burger is that it's packed with a lot of salt and the calories are epic!
