Here on an extremely stormy day and I realized coming here, at least in the Drive-Thru come is not an option when it's raining or windy and raining. The overhang over the drive-thru cuts off right where you would be opening your window to order. The second I opened my window to try to speak my face and hair got drenched and the inside of my car had puddles from the amount of water from the overhang. I haven't had Carl's jr in maybe 10-13 years but since recently moving here I decided to order due to nice childhood memories. I know I should know better. But I haven't been to Carl's Jr in years and years. I remember good times with western cheeseburger when I was a kid. Anyway, I usually cook for my sons, because I'm a responsible Dad who doesn't want to see my kids slowly poisoned by garbage food, but every once in awhile we make a dump run because dang it, balancing everything is hard sometimes. So tonight we went to Carl's Jr. I'm a pretty astute observer of the macro-economic tea leaves, and I knew I was going to get a heavy dose of inflation on this trip. A fast food restaurant has many layers of governance, and a giant multi-step supply chain, plus they're being singled out by a socialist agitator Governor for high minimum wages. He did that to buy the votes of dumb people, and to continue to extinguish the middle class. It's a two-fer for him. So anyway we landed at $50 for three of us. Granted one of my teens is extra hungry. But still, it was $50. Obviously any fast food franchise that isn't vertically integrated or automated will be doomed in this environment. I could have just gone to Sierra Nevada or any number of places for a few bucks extra and eaten actual food! But the real insult was this: there was no honey mustard in the chicken tenders, and no ketchup either. None was offered. So at that, I decided to write my only negative yelp review ever, here at the end of the era of growth, here at the end of the American century, and I choose you Carl's Jr, and your listless, unmanaged staff. Carl's Jr, I will smile at the total unraveling of the economic paradigm that made you possible at all. Your non-existence will be a bright spot in the hard times to come. I finally snuck out of the house in hopes of getting my hands on a Western Bacon Cheeseburger! Just like they used to make in the good ole days. Drive thru was quick and the food was amazing. However, my wife yelled at me when I arrived home. I'm giving it 2/5 because my wife absolutely ruined my night and I feel like Carl's jr. should accept some responsibility for this. read more

The last few times I have been here the criss-cut fries and fried zucchini were made fresh and were crisp and hot. The western bacon cheeseburger is one of my favorite burgers, and I wish Carl's Jr. would step-up their game and source their bacon and beef from humanely-raised and grass-fed sources. Prices have also gone down on the criss-cut fries and fried zucchini, so that was a bonus. The customer service is also great. read more

At the window, I remembered the name and asked for fiery sauce, and a different employee said they don't have anything like that. "You don't have fiery sauce?" I asked. "No," she said. "You don't have fiery sauce today or ever again?" I asked. "Ever," she said. They put fiery sauce on several menu items, so I'm assuming it's a hassle for the employees to get it, since this very same employee gave me fiery sauce six weeks ago. Drive-Thru experience was pretty quick. They gave me a super flat Dr. Pepper, I exchanged it for a Coke or Pepsi and it was a little better. I took my daughter here for breakfast; we were standing in front of the cash at 10:58 am. I thought it was odd that no employees were at the cash registers; they were all in the back and were not busy. After a couple minutes a man came up to the register and when I tried to order breakfast he told me they quite serving breakfast at 11; the time was now 11:01. At this point, I realized this was the reason no one would take my order a few minutes prior. This was frustrating, but I went ahead and ordered something else. Once I finished ordering, I was asked if I wanted to donate money to help veterans and their families, i said no. The man taking my order gave me a look. Morning staff has a nasty attitude and can't fry food long enough if their lives depended on it. They gave me white mushy fries and soggy star nuggets and tried saying they were fresh. Then they made me another order and the star nuggets were still soggy. Night shift does so much better. read more

Stopped in on our way to Orland. Made the mistake of eating in the restaurant. It was sketchy at best. The carpets smell not great, the floor is pretty stained and unappealing, where built-in seats meet the floor there are broken slats of wood and missing linoleum. Not great. However, worst was the fact that during our meal not one but two spiders crawled out from somewhere, maybe the seats, and crawled across my husband's chest until I saw them on his shoulder both times. He attempted to let a manager know but they told their staff person they were busy. I mean, I know spiders go wherever and a single random spider is one thing but in ten minutes having two scurry across you is concerning. Was there a big bunch of spiders under our seats the whole time? If someone requests a manager, at least try to reach out. Sheesh. read more

Really disappointed in the management. Showed up two minutes after the walk in part of the store closed (2AM) , no biggie,and was ushered by staff to use the drive through to order. Waited in line for 15 minutes in the drive through to order. I couldn't set off the weight limit alarm so I couldn't order until the window which I thought was no problem because Taco Bell doesn't mind people walking through the drive through. However, when reaching the window the guy working was open to us ordering until the older woman in the back immediately said no. I'm never one to typically get upset at stores because I've worked in customer service but this bugged me. I was told by employees to wait in the drive through line to order just to get to the window to immediately get shut down by the old woman in the back. I get it we all have policies. But shouldn't everyone be on the same page? And if I'm already there and there is a policy shouldn't there be an appropriate way to address the issue instead of a plain no with no explanation or polite answer. My friend and I were frustrated and hungry and won't be going to that Carl's Jr. in the future. Disappointed and displeased with management on how they handle issues and especially not pleased with the older white haired woman with how she addresses customer issues. We all have liability issues, however, saying no and then ignoring the customer as the young man at the window looks embarrassed and confused is a poor way to run things. read more

I have to disagree with the other reviews. I love that this Carl's is 24-hours and go there quite often after 9 pm when the rest of Chico has rolled up and gone to sleep. They have never gotten one of my orders wrong. The fries are almost always piping hot and never cold, like at some of the other fast food restaurants. They even customize my sandwich when I ask for a chicken breast instead of a hamburger patty. The Southwest chicken melt and the Hawaiian burger with chicken breast substituted are really good. Of course, the old standby - Western Bacon Cheeseburger - is always a good choice too. I recommend this drive-thru for Chicoans looking for a late-night, yummy meal. read more

I was once told by someone that "crazy" is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I guess I'm crazy because I continue to go to this location expecting to get the Carl's Junior food I get elsewhere. The last three times I've eaten here I've purchased a $6.00 burger and received meat that is room temperature and fries that have clearly been sitting out for a while. Two things I just love when I'm craving my guilty pleasure food. I can't actually remember the last time I had a good meal at this location. It's conveniently located for me which is the only plus for this Carls. But Taco Bell is less than a block away from CJ's, so from now on when I want to feel my arteries get clogged further I'll get me some Nachos Bell Grande and a Chalupa.
