Typically, they're good and offer something unique / regional. This one on the other hand, was not good. In fact, it was terrible. First things first, I was appalled at how filthy the place was. I was under the impression that McDonalds did its best to appeal to the masses with cheap and convenient comfort food and also keep the joint sightly. The floors had this sticky grime to it like it hadn't been mopped / deep cleaned in awhile and the air was thick with this greasy musk. To make matters worse, the ventilation must've been out because it was uncomfortably hot. But no matter, my curious group of gringos were in need of some McFood, so we ordered enough to puzzle the turistas around us. Fish filets, quarter pounders, fries galore, cheeseburgers etc, a whole gamut of the menu essentially. We ordered drinks as well, but the ice machine wasn't working. Thank goodness the sodas were chilled. What really irked me was how unfriendly the service was. I am used to inept service in the fast food arena since I live in NYC, but this was as apathetic as it could be: counter folks barely acknowledged us and to no one's surprise, got our orders and totals incorrect. This place wasn't busy, but it did seem understaffed with a ghost crew working there. The sad part is, I've been to another McDonalds in town (https://www.yelp.com/biz/mcdonalds-playa-del-carmen-2). Although very mediocre, it still was light years ahead of this one. Lastly, we didn't find anything unique about the menu. Nothing regionally interesting to us, which was virtually the only reason we came to check it out.

I orders the Big Mac meal and the meat on it didn't even resemble meat. The picture I posted shows the quality of the meat patty. WE WOULD NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. My husband ended up getting sick that night. Not sure if it was from McDonald's but I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with what he ate there.

Before your meal even arrives, you're served a plate of fresh radishes, cucumber, and lime wedges, plus a selection of toppings including tomatoes, onions, and both a green and red salsa. The red salsa was my favourite, it paired perfectly with the tacos and had just the right amount of heat and flavour. The standout for me was the al pastor taco. The meat was incredibly flavourful with crispy edges, a smoky char, and the perfect balance of savoury spice and sweet pineapple. It was easily one of the best al pastor tacos I had in Playa del Carmen. I also tried the sirloin taco and the chicken breast plate, both of which were excellent. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and the quality was impressive, especially for the price. El Fogón absolutely lived up to the hype. If you're looking for authentic, delicious tacos and grilled meats that won't break the bank, this is a must visit. I questioned the order when brought out but did not stress it. Fries were just ok. Nothing special and kind of bland. The burgers were good but that bun was so big it masked the taste of the meat. When I ate the extra burger I took the bun off. Much better that way. They are new so hopefully things improve. Service was great and the entire place, including the restrooms, was super clean. I am writing this review because I believe Paradise Beach needs to seriously address a safety issue…read moreand the way my concerns were handled by management. I have been to Paradise Beach before and understand how the all-inclusive package works, including the alcohol service. My concern is not that alcohol is available -- my concern is what happens when guests are drinking to the point that their safety may be compromised. My 25-year-old daughter is currently visiting Paradise Beach with her boyfriend and a female friend. Based on videos posted online, they were taking shots and participating in the "rainbow" drink challenge over approximately five hours. In the videos, they appeared severely intoxicated. They were impaired to the point that I was genuinely concerned they may not have been able to make safe decisions for themselves, especially while in another country and participating in activities such as water excursions. A person who is extremely intoxicated around water or in an unfamiliar environment can be at serious risk of injury or even death. This is not a minor concern. What concerns me even more is how my safety concern was handled by the manager, Manuel. I called the beach club because I was frightened for my daughter's safety and wanted someone on-site to be aware of the situation. Instead of listening, showing concern, or acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, Manuel was rude, dismissive, and told me that I am her mother and she is my responsibility and can drink as much as she wants. That response was extremely disappointing. I understand that adults are responsible for their own choices, but an establishment that promotes unlimited alcohol also has a responsibility to recognize when a guest may be dangerously impaired and vulnerable. A manager's response to a legitimate safety concern should be compassion, professionalism, and a willingness to help -- not dismissal. At the time of writing this, I do not even know whether my daughter made it safely back to the cruise ship, and I am left worried about her well-being. Paradise Beach needs to review both its alcohol service practices and the behavior and training of its management staff. The issue here is not simply that someone drank too much -- the issue is that a safety concern was raised and was not taken seriously by the person responsible for managing the facility.

Playa del Carmen, Mexico Subway…read more I've been in Mexico for two months and wanted something other then Mexican food. This subways was like any other Subway. It was clean and the sandwiches were made as ordered. The only thing I would point out was they did not offer flat bread or mozzarella cheese as most shops do. It seemed a little tacky to charge to use their bathroom however this shop was located on a main street that provided public access to the beach so I imagine many people who are not customers are entering the shop to use the bathroom. The sandwich was fine and the service was friendly.
