This is a must go to restaurant if youre a foodie porting from one of the cruiselines in cozumel…read more The restaurant is small with limited seating and will always be packed with customers, so best of luck getting a seat. However, if you do, youre in for the best food made with love and flavor! This is a true hidden gem in the busy overstimulating overselling port of punta langosta

After seeing the great reviews here, we schlepped a couple extra blocks (despite a bit of rain) to visit for lunch. Well worth it. We liked Colores y Sabores so much that we returned on another day. Equally fantastic. The Margaritas (I got Mango) are great. Don't ask for frozen mango margarita because, although they will do it, it lessens the flavor of the fresh mango. Tried it both ways, so I can say for sure, lol. The Beans are something you do not want to miss. Something special about them here. The guacamole and pico de Gallo and chips are the way you'd hope: fresh, crunchy, not greasy and just enough pop. Enchiladas are fantastic - and there are three options for how you can get it. The Mole is outstanding - a little smoky, tons of rich flavor. I rarely order fajitas - but I wanted to go simple one day. Perfect. Tender chicken, and caramelized onions and peppers. Try corn or flour tortillas -- or both, like I did. Another day, I tried the tortilla soup and loved it. Soothing, simple, with strips of chicken and crunchy tortilla. We also got the chicken tacos, which were great. 3, with beans and guacamole on corn tortillas. Our fave, though, was the Chile Relleno. Heavenly. Ground beef stuffed inside and this dish was as satisfying and delicious as anything we encountered on the trip. The Carrot Cake! Definitely recommend that, too. Just sweet enough, and homemade.

I didn't come to Mexico to eat at McDonalds. But like any bad tourist, I am perpetually curious…read moreabout the international version of any Mickey Ds. Typically, they're good and offer something unique / regional. This one on the other hand, was not good. In fact, it was terrible. First things first, I was appalled at how filthy the place was. I was under the impression that McDonalds did its best to appeal to the masses with cheap and convenient comfort food and also keep the joint sightly. The floors had this sticky grime to it like it hadn't been mopped / deep cleaned in awhile and the air was thick with this greasy musk. To make matters worse, the ventilation must've been out because it was uncomfortably hot. But no matter, my curious group of gringos were in need of some McFood, so we ordered enough to puzzle the turistas around us. Fish filets, quarter pounders, fries galore, cheeseburgers etc, a whole gamut of the menu essentially. We ordered drinks as well, but the ice machine wasn't working. Thank goodness the sodas were chilled. What really irked me was how unfriendly the service was. I am used to inept service in the fast food arena since I live in NYC, but this was as apathetic as it could be: counter folks barely acknowledged us and to no one's surprise, got our orders and totals incorrect. This place wasn't busy, but it did seem understaffed with a ghost crew working there. The sad part is, I've been to another McDonalds in town (https://www.yelp.com/biz/mcdonalds-playa-del-carmen-2). Although very mediocre, it still was light years ahead of this one. Lastly, we didn't find anything unique about the menu. Nothing regionally interesting to us, which was virtually the only reason we came to check it out.

There was no ice available for drinks. Half the drinks were out so you were only left with a couple options to choose from. They didn't have any straws. The ketchup dispenser was empty and there wasn't anyone available to help us unless you stood in the long line to order again. By the time we sat down to eat our food and fries were all cold. I orders the Big Mac meal and the meat on it didn't even resemble meat. The picture I posted shows the quality of the meat patty. WE WOULD NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. My husband ended up getting sick that night. Not sure if it was from McDonald's but I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with what he ate there.

My husband got sirloin tacos off the rotisserie. I got a pollo plate. So good! We also added on guac, chips and a potato taco. Everything was great. Will come again. No gimmicks, just seriously good tacos. The tacos were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and served hot and fresh every time. You can taste the quality and the technique especially in the way the meat is cooked and carved. Everything felt simple but done right, which honestly is what makes a taco stand out. The atmosphere is lively and busy (for good reason), but service moves quickly and efficiently. It feels like the kind of place locals actually eat at, not just a tourist trap with hype. We fully intended to try different taco spots around Playa del Carmen... but after our first visit, we couldn't resist coming back. When a place makes you change your food itinerary, you know it's worth it. If you're in Playa and debating whether it lives up to the hype it does!!
