Clean hotel with friendly staff that is close to downtown Hayward. Room was nice, comfortable bed…read more Daily breakfast offered fresh fruit, muffins, waffles, eggs, etc. Actually extended our stay a couple of days. Elevator door is noisy so don't pick a room near the elevator. Shower nozzle is small and doesn't put out a very wide pattern. Occasional road noise when louder vehicles go by. Otherwise a nice hotel for the price.

The front desk representative was sitting in a chair that shared a wall with the front counter. Not very welcoming to enter with No One at the front desk. Once engaged the front desk representative was very friendly and thorough and asked if I had any questions. I arrived 15 minutes prior to the published check in after driving 5 hours and was permitted to have my room! Both ice machines on the 1st and 2nd floors are not working, very disappointing. Sat by the pool, very clean deck area and pool. Inviting area, nice touch with towels placed on the chairs. Reserved a room with a king bed. The room/bathroom were clean and modern. The hotel has plenty of parking on each side of the building. The elevator door rumbles when it closes which is a bit unnerving. Stopped in the lobby for breakfast. Nice variety, eggs, toast, cereal, yogurt, waffles, coffee and juice. The lobby is bright , modern and airy. I would recommend a stay here. Located in the heart of Hayward, lots eating choices surround the hotel. My only recommendation is to set up the front desk so the representative is present. When I went to check out again, no one at the front desk, the breakfast attendant had to go behind the desk into the office to get the attendant. Again the representative was friendly and helpful.

Considering it said 5 smoking rooms available online. Trash cans around the property haven't been emptied. Elevator: looks, sounds, and feels like it's gonna break down. Room: fair/ good - large room with frig and microwave. AC worked but was weak no matter what setting you put it on. Not enough outlets and some didn't work. No deadbolt on the door. One of three lamps didn't work. Room was missing a clothes rack bar. So didn't ha e any place to hang my clothes. Bed: comfy but only had 2 pillows Bathroom: sink, toilet, and shower work just fine. Hair everywhere in the bathroom. What I presume is makeup smeared on the counter. The shower walls are cracked and it smells highly like mold. The carpet looks like it hasn't been vaccumed in ages. This place is not sanitary whatsoever and no matter how inexpensive a place is, it shouldn't be like this. Went to the guy at the reception and showed him pictures and he refunded, that's the only highlight. I imagine this place also has bedbugs too.

The Courtyard is a great hotel to stay at as their staff is friendly and their rooms are well kept…read more As you enter the hotel, there is a mini snack bar next to the front desk along with the shared microwave. The shared microwave is definitely a downside to the hotel, as I really wish they had personal ones in each room readily available. They also have a Starbucks located in the first floor, but l've noticed that their staff never arrives at their opening time (6AM?) as advertised by the front desk. As for the rooms, they have their own mini fridge which is great for short stays. I can definitely overlook the two downsides of this hotel as The Courtyard is conveniently located next to restaurants/fast food chains and I can easily drive a couple minutes to the Starbucks nearby. P.S. Hopefully this hotel will look into fluffier pillows because their pillows are a little flat and stiff, but not at all unbearable.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND STAYCATION…read more I'm enrolled in different rewards programs such as airlines and casinos. One of the programs I'm enrolled in is Asia Miles. I hadn't earned miles through my Asia Miles account for close to 18 months. If I had not earned miles by May 30 all the miles I earned through Asia Miles will reset to zero. One of their partners is Courtyard by Marriott. I reserved a room for two nights during Memorial Weekend. The reason I booked Courtyard Newark Silicon Valley was due to the swimming pool as I needed something to do on my staycation. I came here Saturday afternoon. The guest room is spacious enough. The bed was really comfy. The staff was really nice. The lobby was clean and organized. I even like the Keurig coffee machine inside the room that had some coffee pods. There's a cafe opened in the morning when you can buy coffee and hot food. Despite all the positive attributes of this Marriott I gave the rating I did because I came for a staycation. After I checked-in on a Saturday afternoon I tried to swim in the swimming pool. Noticed I said "tried", but the swimming pool was cold. I ended going to the whirlpool. The next day on a Sunday I came back to the swimming in the afternoon. I noticed the debris from trees in the pool. There are a lot of trees around the pool. With the abundance of trees this pool needs to be cleaned constantly. During my stay there not only was the pool cold but also dirty. If I had to stay at another Courtyard by Marriott it wouldn't be here.

THE BETTER MARRIOTT OPTION…read more Last year during Memorial Day Weekend I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott for a staycation. As a Cathay Pacific member I earn miles not only on flights, but also on accommodations like Marriott, which is a partner of Cathay Pacific. However if I don't earn miles within 18 months my Cathay Pacific miles will reset to zero. This year my Cathay Pacific miles would reset to zero by the end of November as the last time I earned miles was May of last year. Since I had staycation at a Marriott hotel during a 3-day holiday weekend a little more than a year ago I thought about staying at another one to earn Cathay Pacific miles. However I didn't want to stay at the Courtyard. Next to the Courtyard is Residence Inn where I booked a two-night stay during Labor Day weekend. There are two features Residence Inn has over Courtyard. First there is a breakfast buffet. Two the swimming pool is heated. On the Saturday before Labor Day I swam at the swimming pool. When you first enter the pool it is lukewarm, but the longer you stay inside the pool you feel warm. I also like the length of the pool. For the three straight days, including my checkout date on Labor Day, I swam at Residence Inn. One benefit of the heated pool is you can swim until 10:00 PM. Regarding the breakfast buffet there are not a lot of items. I like the breakfast sandwiches yet the scrambled eggs were too wet. The interesting aspect of the breakfast at Residence Inn is the waffle station where you cook your own waffles. The room is a studio. It has a kitchen. The queen size bed is comfortable. Comparing the rooms I prefer the room at the Courtyard over Residence Inn as the room felt more spacious and not as tight. However if I had to stay at a Marriott hotel in Newark I prefer Residence Inn over Courtyard.

The couch sagged and was dirty. The kitchen chairs were torn and needed to be replaced. The bathrooms did not have any toiletries--including a bar of soap at the bathroom sink. We wondered if the rooms had even been cleaned or the sheets changed. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member and have appreciated staying in Marriotts for numerous reasons--but not this one! I was shocked at the condition of the suite. I paid over $300 for the suite. I strongly recommend that no one stay here. The lace is in dire need of repair and renovation.

Some of my work locations are in Oakland, but I don't wanna stay too close in Oakland for obvious reasons. Oakland was the only In N Out location to ever close due to crime in the parking lot! So, Union City it is! This location is super easy freeway access just off the 880 at the Alvarado Niles exit. Speaking of In N Out, there's one right across the street from this hotel! Check in was easy, no problems, got my rewards points posted, and got my room no prob. Friendly staff and clean hotel. It has all the usual amenities, but I'm not gonna get a chance to use the pool or gym, gotta do my work. Speaking of work, the WiFi was working no prob and a decent speed. The desk was comfortable as was the bed. The bathroom was clean and no stray hairs not my color laying about. The water pressure in the shower was good and endless hot water. The free breakfast was up as usual, and the same food basically as all the IHG Holiday Inns. Eggs, omelet folded thingys, bread to toast and hot coffee and juices. I can't forget those fab cinnamon rolls at all the Holiday Inn Expresses! I usually get breakfast early when they put it out and go back to my room to eat and be on the internet. So, far, this stay is fine and I'd stay at this location again.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves one…read more Our group drove more than 300 miles to stay here. During our stay, one of the buses in our group accidentally blocked a vehicle. As soon as we were notified, we immediately worked together to move it and resolve the issue. We apologized and made every effort to cooperate. Despite that, management's response felt excessive and unprofessional. Instead of working with us after the issue was corrected, we were effectively pushed out. To make matters worse, when I returned to collect my belongings, my key had already been deactivated. The receptionist saw me and knew who I was, yet failed to mention that my room access had been removed. The property itself was also difficult to overlook. Much of the parking area appeared to be occupied by construction materials, shipping containers, piles of lumber, discarded mattresses, debris, and renovation equipment. The parking lot looked more like an active construction site than a place prepared to accommodate paying guests. I fully acknowledge that the blocked vehicle should not have happened. However, we took responsibility, fixed the situation immediately, and apologized. What I cannot overlook is the lack of communication, lack of professionalism, and the way paying guests were treated after making every effort to cooperate. Was also told they don't let trucks park in their lot as well... but there's a truck clearly parked.... I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it based on my experience.
