I came to this dry cleaners in white plains to get a few pairs of pants and a spring jacket for a little tune up and dry cleaned as well. The pants needed the bottoms to be evened up and sewed back in place and jacket needed a new full zipper and one sleeved fixed . Took just one day later and all was fixed and clean , prices are fair and clothing look and smell brand new. I dropped off my clothes for dry cleaning on Tuesday in preparation for an upcoming funeral. I was assured they would be ready by Saturday, as the wake and funeral were scheduled for Sunday and Monday. When I went to pick up my clothes on Saturday, they were not ready. I was told they were on the last delivery truck and would arrive by the end of the day. I was assured I would receive a call when they arrived. That call never came. I returned after the store's closing time and was told again that the clothes had not arrived and were still on the delivery truck. I was promised another call once they did arrive. This time, I received a call, but it was to inform me that the clothes were not on the delivery truck and would not arrive until Monday. The only explanation I was given was, "I'm not sure what happened." This was completely unacceptable given the circumstances. I had to scramble to purchase new clothes for the funeral, adding unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. I was told I would be notified when the clothes were ready on Monday. (Not that it mattered - I was already out of state.) Unsurprisingly, I did not receive a call. Adding insult to injury, I was not offered any discount or compensation for this ordeal. Untrustworthy! I dropped off a dress to be hemmed! Simple dress just to make it shorter. I was quoted $35 to do it. I paid $40 for the dress, I asked can they give me a better price, they said $30. I go pick it up and the girl insisted it was $45! I explained the conversation with the Taylor, he was there his response was I'm the Taylor she's the cashier that's the price! I've been using this cleaners for years, and getting alterations done (hem stitch etc) normally around $35 per pair . Today I stopped by for the same service and was told the price doubled without and measurements etc. I asked if they could check my records to see the consistent pricing, but was told they were unable to search. I dropped off my clothes expecting a clean return, but they came back with new stains that weren't there before. When I brought it up, the staff dismissed my concern and refused to help, they told me that i dropped them off with the stains which I definitely did not. It is hard to imagine a dry cleaner staying in business when they lose your clothes, over - and over - and over again. The gentleman who runs CARLENE CLEANERS never once takes responsibility for losing your clothes. He always insists that "I've already picked them up." They are incredibly disorganized, defensive, and unhelpful. I once saw my shirt on the conveyer belt (it was a very specific shirt) and he refused to even let me point it out to him. I saw the shirt, was trying to help him, but he had misplaced the item, was defensive, and insisted that "there are none of your clothes" here. You might be wondering why I went back to this business - and had them lose my clothes 4 times? It's hard to find a good dry cleaner. But it's not this hard. I was shocked to see that while I was waiting at the register one Saturday, another customer literally actually came in to argue about "lost clothes." You might not believe me, but the manager and this person got in a fight right in front of me (just a verbal argument --- but still). Regardless - don't go here. They're profoundly disorganized. They can't even do the ONE thing they're entrusted to do: take your clothes, clean them, and give them back. read more

I dropped a dress off for it to be shortened. It is a simple hem. The owners wife looked at it and said that it will be 30 dollars. I agreed, later that day the owner called me and said that it will be 45 dollars and not thirty! This place is very expensive. Worst experience. Took a pair of jeans to be altered and was told to give them 4 to 5 days . Three weeks later and I had to continuously call and ask them when the pants were going to be ready. Finally, they told me they would have them ready and I went to pick them up, I missed the opportunity that they were purchased to be worn for, and approximately two weeks after tried them on to find that they butchered the jeans so poorly that they were high waters. Mind you these we bell bottom jeans with no other real option to be fixed. When I contacted the owner to ask what happened, he made me feel as though it was my fault, and I probably did something wrong to get the wrong hen length or I moved while his son was taking my measurement. Horrible. i moved to the area and found this alterations cleaner convenient. i brought in a Sandro skirt where the waistline had some wear damage. i picked it up a few days later not worried at all. only when i wanted to wear the item did i see that instead of fixing my skirt it was damaged further by FOUR holes in the waistline from the pin used to hold it on the hanger. The owner not only shamed me in my skirt being short but also claimed there was no other way. i pointed out that even though i am not in the business as he claimed to be an expert for 25 years i could tell the main fabric was durable to the pins. he said i barely spent money in the store (owing to my recent move here.. sorry!!). and his really inappropriate comment about the length of my skirt. i'm 5"2. my clothes are small. what a horrible experience. read more

Biggest rip off I have ever encountered! My daughter brought a simple full length dress in for a basic hem. $60 and the nerve to charge another $15 for pressing their own work. Do NOT take anything expensive here unless you want it stolen/lost. Brought 2 jackets to get tailored. The cheaper one was worked on and the other one ($1200 heavy winter jacket) was "lost." We had to wait through a month of excuses just to finally be offered to be reimbursed for half of its price. Now have to deal with it in small claims court. read more

My previous tailor just closed shop on Westchester Ave and was top notch. I needed a top altered to wear for an occasion, and pants to be taken in. Not only was the top done poorly but I brought it back to have her fix it. The owner said he would charge. That didn't sit well, and he backed off only to add the price to my pants! Overpriced, no thank you for coming in, sorry we had to alter again, nothing. Choosing Carlene Cleaners for their dry cleaning service was a big mistake. I brought a TAUPE dress in for dry clean a few days ago. When I went to pick it up today, I saw a BLUE dress!! Not only the owner couldn't give me a convincible reason, he explained himself so hard and told me to call the cloth manufacture on the color changing issue. I asked him how would he like to solve the issue. He stared at me and said nothing. I do understand if clothes' color fade when it comes out of wash. But I cannot wrap my head around on how it could change to a completely different color. He insisted on charging me and said he did the work and I need to pay for it. Shame on him with the extremely poor customer service!! He just handed his business to other dry cleaner stores nearby and I don't suggest anyone to trust this store to get your clothes cleaned there!! Our company had a basic alteration on an expensive linen bedding component for our tradeshow in Germany. They quoted $40.00 which we thought was high but we didn't have time to shop around and they are convenient to our offices. I was horrified to see the sloppy workmanship and threads hanging everywhere. When we returned to get a refund they offered to redo the job but we declined based on the obvious lack of experience and caring. They would not refund our money and threatened to take us to court if we disputed the charge with the credit card company. They even had the nerve to accuse us of wanting free work!!! read more

I went to this dry cleaner because of its proximity and it was open until 7pm on a Friday. I brought the man some messy, stained wool clothes, and he warned me that he may have to clean them 2 or 3 times, but he would do his best. Less than a week later, I call and come to get my clothes, and I find there are no traces of the mess I had left on them. It's as if nothing deleterious had happened. I don't know how the prices here compare to other places, but nonetheless, I am quite relieved that he was able to get the job done. Good for dry cleaning but his alterations are poor and (oddly enough) pricey. Brought a jacket in to have the sleeves shortened and nothing was done but he still charged. Had pants hemmed and the stitching fell apart within a year. Brought the pants to another cleaner and they said that the stitching was very cheap. I could also see the stitching from the outside of the pants-which is a huge problem. read more

Took my wedding dress here, post-wedding, to get the dirt stains cleaned out of the bottom of it. I had an outdoor wedding on a farm...so needless to say it was pretty dirty at the bottom.
