My story takes place during Covid, so it's not recent. I never posted my experience at the time…read more However, seeing the one negative review shown here encourages me to add on. So here goes. I'll try to condense it and be as objective as possible. Came for a colonoscopy. Not up to par because of the brutal prep -- you know what I mean --- awful stuff you drink, then no food, etc. The check-in process was something new at the time, even tho you see it everywhere now -- you had to do it yourself via screen. A staff person was behind a window, but did not assist. I wondered why I had to do her job. When I finally did interact with her, the whole process came to a halt when she found out I had not brought my Covid card. Remember those? They were new at the time, and I had left mine home. Yes, I had received a text to bring it, but test notifications were kind of new at the time also, and I missed it. I was told going home to get the card was not an option, because I would mess up the schedule. I told them to call HyVee pharmacy to verify my Covid shot. They wouldn't do it, and told me it would do no good if I did it. So here I was, empty, not feeling great, but ready. No solution was acceptable. My patience was over. I admit to raising my voice and using (mildly) inappropriate language at this point. The staff person called security. There was no one in the waiting room, and I could not have gotten to her physically to do any harm. Nonetheless, here they came in the car, around the corner. I never encountered them. I left. Next day I received a special letter from the doc himself, who I had never met. He would not treat me. He defended the employee as if she had been seriously threatened or even hurt. I was never to come back to the practice. I asked HyVee if they would have vouched for me. They said yes, unquestionably. A phone call to verify my shot was the best answer. They were appalled at the lack of cooperation on the part of the staff. I had my records from the practice sent to another in Peoria. When they learned what I had experienced, they were just as appalled. Of course, the stiff protocols during Covid were to protect everyone. I understood also that the staff person was not authorized to override orders. I also understand, because this happened to me, my objectivity could be questioned. Factor all this in before you decide whether I have a legitimate case or not. In the end, I miss the convenience of having a gastroenterologist nearby. Almost all of them in Bloomington are with Digestive Disease Consultants. However, I am banned. It has been 5 years. Maybe that doctor isn't even there any more. Maybe the staff is different. I have considered trying to get back in with the practice -- but not seriously. And I don't feel I owe an apology to anyone. I am 79 years old and have dealt with IBS for many years, mostly alone. Recently I have discovered some new options for treatment which I intend to pursue. It would not involve DDC.

If you return a message they leave for you, expect 20 questions. I think it would be easier to get an appointment with the president. Had some procedures that were scheduled in the afternoon. First I had to register myself on a computer after 36 hours of no food & while dehydrated. Why have a receptionist if I have to do her job? Then after the procedures, they could not kick me out of there fast enough! I was there for less than an hour after anesthesia. They wanted to leave by five. They didn't even offer me some crackers! I was not okay to be shoved out the door so fast. Good doctors, place run terribly.

The office gave me a card with information about the test that was needed and information with number to call. The number was to OSF Healthcare Central Scheduling. Called into central scheduling to first get a person that had no idea of what the test was to be performed. Was put on a long hold then after 7 minutes the call switched to the give a rating of how your experience was. Gave a zero. Called back to central scheduling this person said he did see the test but could not schedule it and then said someone would call be back. Many hours later a person called back from central scheduling and asked when I would like the test done. I ask for first available she gave a time 8 days from time of call. This test is a quick Ultrasound that would take maybe 5 minutes or lest to complete. I asked the person if she was referring to the correct test as she called it something different than was the doctor had listed. She was not for sure and said this was the only information she had. So I was not able to schedule any test as I am waiting for my primary care to call back. This appointment should have been completed while I was at the primary care facility. Very poor service by OSF
