We knew that apart from our families, our photographer would be the one person we would spend the most time with on our wedding day, and Allison is the perfect companion -- calm, warm, with a good sense of humor, and expert at managing family dynamics and corralling rowdy guests into group photos. Equally important, she is a stellar photographer. She really takes the time to get to know her couples and listen to their priorities for their wedding photography. She has some kind of magic in how she captures personalities and moments, especially candids which were important to us. Her prior experience doing commercial photography for architects also has given her an incredible sense of space and setting -- we've loved all of her photos of us in various locations around our wedding venue and during our "date" photo session in Greenpoint. Hire Allison, she is the best! Photos: Allison Sullivan Photography (duh)

From the owner: NATURAL: ROMANTIC: HEARTFELT: Wedding Photographer I believe…read morethat when you look back on your wedding photographs in two months, in ten years, and then in forty years when you are showing them to your granddaughter, you should still be able to feel the emotions of that special day. That special moment you share with your Mom, as she helps you slip into your dress for the final time, or the gasp from your bridesmaids as they exclaim that it is "so you". The look on his face when he finally sees you, and the time the two of you get to spend together soaking in your love. Those are the moments I want to preserve. I get giddy when I am able to work with couples who love; sharing their love with hugs + laughter, outdoor ceremonies nuzzled in nature, delicate strapped wedding dresses, draping bistro lights, sentimental mementoes and quiet moment

Her work is absolutely amazing, and you can tell she loves what she does. Everyone I shared these photos with were amazed at how beautiful the photos came out and needless to say my husband was very happy. A few months after I did another boudoir session with Erin for one of her promotional projects which I could not turn down. These sessions are just so fun an empowering, I was so touched she asked me to be a part of this and it definitely won't be the last time I do it either! My wedding was the following year and of course I needed to ask Erin to be our photographer. Erin & Ben did our engagement session that we used for our invites, and I will cherish this forever. Erin & Ben make a great team and really capture the moment. Our Wedding as a bit hectic and Erin & Ben were great at handling the chaos and my annoying family very well. Again, our photos came out absolutely perfect, they all are timeless and priceless pieces. Seriously, if you want great photos and to work with great people, its Erin. I cant wait to continue to work with Erin for years to come!

Be forewarned - this is less of a review but a romance novel starring our photographer, Danny…read moreBergin of Chellise Michael Photography (CMP), as its main protagonist. In photographs I typically have either RBF or a double chin because I'm usually laughing. I also cringe at the standard posed wedding photography and knew right off the bat that it would be a mission to find a wedding photographer that would be up for the challenge. So if you're like me, you may dread the thought of choosing a wedding photographer. It was by chance that I came across CMP's photographs while browsing on Pinterest. They immediately caught my eye; they were editorial, intimate and full of personality. Bottom line - stunning. Fortunately CMP had one photographer available for our date -- Danny. We lucked out because he is not only extremely talented in his craft, but also a total gem of a person. The photographs from our engagement shoot (WHICH COMES WITH YOUR PACKAGE AND IS AN AMAZING BENEFIT OF CMP'S SERVICES) made it immediately clear that Danny has a superb eye and was able to capture our personality as a couple. I've been non-stop spamming friends and family with our wedding photographs since we've received them; and which Danny delivered in record time. I'm in complete awe of how Danny was able to capture the vibe of our wedding in such a natural way. It goes without saying that wedding photographs aren't just for the couple, but also for the friends and family. So I want to share some verbatim messages I received from our attendees (who include people who work in the fashion industry, my highly critical family and people who have gone to at least 8 weddings last year) which really underscore Danny's stellar photography skills: "HOLY $H!T YOUR WEDDING PHOTOS!! I'm obsessed with all of them!" "The photos really capture you guys" "I'm done. Unwell this aesthetic. who is this photographer?!" "Your photographer was on it! They did a really great job!" "This photographer is magic brah" Last but not least, I want to recognize qualities of CMP that while searching for a wedding photographer I had not recognized were absolutely essential until I saw them in action: (1) a commitment to easy scheduling for discussing your needs and dates and for the engagement shoot; (2) clear instructions and constant communication on when the photographs will be delivered, guides for the photo shoots and how to view your photos; (3) a photographer with great personality that puts everyone at ease; and (4) flexibility and ability to provide for their customer's needs and implement their customer's vision. All in all, due to Danny -- our knight in shining corduroy -- we will live happily ever after.

We are simply enthralled by the incredible artistry and creative narrative vision of Mike,…read moreChellise, and their team. Their ability to capture authenticity, beauty, meaning-- and even the sublime-- went way above and beyond any of our expectations. I was absolutely captivated by their portfolio-- the narrative, colors, composition, perspective. We were having a very small casual wedding, so I honestly wondered, would it still make sense to invest ourselves in photos? I am so glad that we did. I searched high and low online, but I kept coming back to their portfolio --beautiful yet edgy, current, and distinctive. After meeting with Mike at his Bushwick studio, we decided to go for it. I keep thinking of the word Zeitgeist (if that happens to mean something to you)-- the idea that art and culture are intertwined, that individuals and their works are products of their time and culture-- this is what you have with Mike & Chellise-- the ability not only to create beautiful amazing portraits and memories of important moments but also to be part of the artistic and inspired zeitgeist of Brooklyn/NY now. It's like you have the chance to be doing your band photoshoot, except that it happens to be your engagement photoshoot. My partner and I both didn't want traditional engagement photos-- we both love modern and contemporary art, cinema, and the eclectic visionaries who bring their own individual perspective to their work (Cindy Sherman, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Vito Acconci, Ryan Trecartin, Laurel Nakadate, to name a few). In particular, we enjoy the rich saturated hues and style of 1960s Italian (a la Dario Argento) and French New Wave cinema, so we wanted to recreate those moments in our portraits. Mike and Chellise and Kelli made it happen. And our portrait session photoshoot was as fun, memorable, and as exciting as our wedding itself... and the photos are simply incredible. Not only that, but they bring genuine positive and relaxed energy, which is really important, especially for the wedding day. Mike and his team are friendly, professional, timely, and super-efficient and effective. You could not ask for better event/portrait/wedding photographers. True talented artists.

Fast forward to 2017, and my son and daughter in law were getting married. They were so impressed with Ion that they too chose him to document their special day. And had the same outstanding results. These two couples have very different styles, yet Ion captured the essence of both of them perfectly. In 2018, the grandchildren started coming, and there was no one else we wanted to take our yearly family photos. He is extremely patient with the grandchildren, (5- all 3 years old and under) and manages to get wonderful shots and get the 12 of us to look at the camera at the same time. No easy feat! From the beginning she was very relaxed and didn't push us to choose her, and we didn't feel pressured to, which was a relief after dealing with wedding vendors. We are so happy we chose her. She took all our requests and concerns into consideration. We did some creative shots and were so happy with the way our photos came out. We went to all the spots we wanted to, besides where she advised us to go. It was fun, and went fast. I also felt like the pricing and service was good for the photos we received. I was also not feeling well that day and she was kind and made sure to not push me to do anything I couldn't physically do. She was able to do my touch ups and answer my questions quickly.

Finding a time where everyone was in one place was always a challenge. BUT, we were already planning a family getaway weekend in Woodstock, so no challenge there. The next part, finding a photographer who was available the day I wanted, who was good (really good!) and reasonably priced. I did research the way I always do...first I turned to my friends. "Help!" I said, "I need to find a photographer in the Hudson valley or Catskills for a family photo shoot. Does anyone know anyone?" No one knew anybody. So, then I turned to Yelp, cause what else do you do? I reached out to 5 photographers...and from the first email, Denise stood out. She was friendly, to the point, and had a beautiful portfolio to share. Her prices were reasonably and she exuded a warmth and sincerity, even through emails, that was palpable. I booked her. When she showed up at our rental house to photograph all nine of us (ranging in age from 3 to 77) she was nothing but professional, friendly and gracious. She was on time (to the minute). And full of energy and guidance. Our hour of photo time went quickly!! it was fun! And, even though the youngest had a few minute long meltdown, Denise was not phased...and ended up getting some of the best photos during and after the meltdown. She edited and emailed the photos so quickly! And even got my hard digital copy in the mail super fast. The photos themselves are gorgeous, and there are quite a few we are looking forward to framing. She truly got my idea to fruition, perfectly. if you have any event photography or portrait needs anywhere near the Hudson Valley, reach out to Denise. You won't regret it!
