Home Instead Senior Care used high pressure sales tactics on my single 86 year old mother to sign a…read morecontract. They were told by my mother that see wanted to try the service and see if it was a good fit. They charged $130 for a health care evaluation for there own baseline. They secured a security deposit for 2 weeks of service @ 8 hours per week 16 hours total. There home health care aid had no cooking skills, was not herself health conscious and provied little or no amenable care other than to chat up my mother @ $32/hr. After 4 days of 4 hours of service my mother decided it was not a good fit and called Home Instead to cancel services. 4 days latter they withdrew another 2 weeks pay out of my mothers account of which my mother had reversed. Then they then sued us in Superior Court for none payment. There was no phone call from Home Instead to discuss the matter or fined a resolution. This company was a predator and created a-lot of unnecessary stress when it can to my mother and our family!

It was always an issue getting someone to take her to the bathroom. She would ring the buzzer and wait most times 45 minutes. They put her in a diaper after we asked them not to and spoke to the nurse. The nurse said we needed to bring the necessary supplies so she wouldn't have to wear a diaper. I then informed her the supplies have been in her room for two days and you guys put them in there. She then promised it would not happen again but they still left her in a diaper which caused a huge sore on her backside. I found 2 different pills on the floor and one in a cup. One of the medication's round up being my mother's congestive heart failure pill. The nurse then told me and my sister that she could not give her another one because as far as she knows, she already gave it to her. Most of the nurses were rude. They broke her phone and tried to convince her not to go to the hospital when she was shaking like a leaf and white as a ghost and couldn't breath and after being at the hospital for only three hours she ended up needing 2 blood transfusions. The administrator was made aware of these problems and reached out only to ask me to take down the bad review I put up. I then asked for me and my sister to sit down with him and go over everything that happened which he did do. and then had probably about an hour and a half meeting, trying to explain every single situation that happened every single night, including a nurse, screaming at my mother, not allowing her to go to the bathroom and also screaming at me and my sister, when we called to the point where I was up knocking on the door from the facility at 5:30 in the morning trying to make sure my mother was OK .We asked him to look into who broke her phone and everything else that was done to my 80 year old mother. all he keeps saying is that he's looking into and can I please take down the review. And he said his staff needed "better hospitality" and he was working on that.

Issues with not fully understanding the English language, unable to cook unless it is ethnic food that they prefer, not very helpful to the client, disrespectfully and not very compassionate. They lie and make excuses. Had one aide that had to be woken up in the morning by the client that they were supposed to be taking care of, as well as falling asleep during the afternoon or early evening. Another that was very self-righteous and would lecture the client about proper behavior. Always referring to how things are done in their country, guess what you are not in that country - you are here in the USA. For what you pay for this service it's an absolute crime. Please run in the opposite direction if you are considering using this service. No real oversite of the people they employ that are supposed to take care of clients that are health compromised.

My father's longtime, part-time housekeeper needed to clean up after the home attendant, who left dishes unwashed, trash in the car, etc. The attendant would direct the housekeeper to clean up after him and do things that were part of his job. Most troubling, my father was seriously deconditioned from his hospital stay. We asked Edmund to keep a close eye on my dad, and Edmund had a whole spiel about how we cared too much for my dad but needed to give my dad space so he could learn to be independent. This allowed Edmund to spend most of the time in his room on his laptop, door closed, while my dad's housekeeper would fetch water and food for my father, help him to the toilet, empty his foley bag and check on his vitals. It was she who alerted us that something was wrong -- it turned out that my father had a serious infection and needed to return to the hospital, where he stayed for another month before discharge. I believe the home attendant would have left my father suffering and deteriorate for days. The people who run Towne make a great sales pitch but ultimately, I don't think they do a great job of vetting, and it's ultimately still up to you to interview and find the right caregiver.
