In the box lot area, there was even an auctioneer--an older man with a cane--who might spend 45 minutes or more on a single box. There was also a small kitchen where you could buy freshly cooked meals, which added to the overall experience. Today, the approach is very different. I see little to no online advertising for their auctions compared to other auction houses, aside from their website and a limited group they notify directly. Auctions now move quickly: items start low and end fast, with minimal effort to increase the final price. While this format can benefit buyers, sellers should be cautious. With the current pace and lack of active bidding, it is unlikely that items will achieve strong selling prices.

The gentlemen were trying to help, the main female was aggressive and unhelpful. If I sold something to someone and they drove there and it was missing, I would apologize and fill their refund documents out, that would be the least I could do. Not here, they said 'go to this website and fill everything out, and if anything isn't correct, it'll delay your refund'. Again, in a kind of threatening voice. Very unprofessional. Will not buy anything from them again and I'll be certain to pass this on the everyone I know.

These were items selling on other sites for hundreds to thousands of dollars. On auction day only 6 of the items were up for sale! They sold at very low prices ,$100.00 - $300.00 ! After Alderfer deducted their commissions and expenses they sent me a bill! I did protest and they ended up sending me a small check. It took over a month to get my 10 items back. They wanted me to have an estate sale to sell these and other items. I wouldn't trust them to sell anything for me ! I feel this was a total scam. This is a warning to anyone wishing to sell items.

Robert appears to have been the ringleader at this sale, he was very generous with his valuable time while sharing with me his expert knowledge referring to the specific vintage and condition of two pieces of furniture. He gave us a free education regarding the importance of dovetailing on dresser drawers. Robert noticed my aunt and carrying the two bulky and heavy pieces to our car and he promptly instructed an assistant to carry these heavy items to our car (we've been to sales before, no one EVER HELPS to load your purchases) his kind gesture was appreciated.
