We rented the cabin for two nights. Check in was easy. The cabin was very clean and well appointed with all equipment needed. We just brought food. The kitchen was fully functional with all dishes and cooking utensils needed. There is a bbq to use as well outside. The deck was very relaxing to enjoy the sounds of the Feather River. The grass was perfect for our grandson to play. Mike had the fire pit ready for evening smores. Chris and Rosalina have perfected the anticipating of anything a guest could need.My family will enjoy the opportunity to stay again. I want to mention the cafe that is here too. We came here a little while back. I loved this place and we will be back again. Kaylee is the star of the show... along with her beautiful and awesome daughters. Such a kind happy vibe you get from them. It's kinda weird though that the wife of the owner (she's the first person we spoke to and she absolutely had no idea what was going on! She was the worst!) is so incredibly rude to us and other guests and obsessively looking over the managers shoulder! Listen lady if you would stop interfering things would be great! Stop staring and interfering with guests. But you still get 5 stars cause your other employees are super amazing and make up for the weird lingering lady. read more

We love caribou crossroards and rv. It is very peaceful. Plenty of fishing spots. You can explore down carribou rd and find many spots for a day picnic and to fish. Chris and Mike take care of the place! Chris can cook up some delicious food and a milk shake! read more

I don't know what these other people are talking about. This is a wonderful place for some great family bonding. I recommend bringing kids of all ages. They would love it here. Chris is very accommodating and goes out his way to ensure a very pleasurable experience. This place is a beautiful campgrounds nestled by water and a lot of nature. I feel like the negative reviews here fail to consider the demographic of the area around Belden in the first place. If your expectations are resort-like then go to a resort not in the middle of Northern California where the demographics are white, republican, etc. if you're looking to camp and enjoy the company of who you bring / nature / a small general store and restaurant then this totally meets your expectation. The food is good, Chris has always made great burgers and other dishes. The staff has always been nice and attentive. I have had no issues with water or any pests. Very pet friendly and family friendly I highly recommend it. read more

We were on an exploratory trip to check out fall camping and stopped in for a burger and shake. The owners are great. Great service, and it was the busy part of the day for service, very attentive staff. Our meals were served fresh and hot! Shakes were yummy! What I really like about these little unknowns is the history of the places. The pictures of fish caught, the artifacts found in the area and displayed, and it doubled as a small market for campers in the area. It is on the path of the PCT, cool thing is that they provide a hikers box for those making the hike to take what they need from the box and or donate to the next hiker. We are avid outdoors people so we poked through our truck and left a few things that a hiker might find useful, super glue, safety pins, tape... Thank you for the experience, we are coming up this fall, I'm sorry to see the business up for sale, I hope whom ever can pick up this little jewel will take it to its next level! This review is for the cafe and general store. I came up to Feather River with some friends for fishing and to get a much needed break from the day to day grind. We stopped in here a few times to pickup some supplies and also to get lunch one day. The store has the essential stuff you might need if you were camping in that area. I was happy they had ice cream bars since it was 100 degress out. They also had a gold miner kit which I thought was pretty funny. The cafe served up basic cafe entrees like burgers and sandwiches. I ordered the patty melt which was a tad greasy. My buddy's club sandwich did not have a good meat to bread ratio. I would have liked to order breakfast but we got there too late. The women that appeared to be the owner was very friendly. On a side note, the RV park was having an iron chef challenge that weekend. The secret ingredient was.... ground beef. I could only imagine the different hamburger helper concoctions that were entered into the contest. read more

Two part review for the 'Bou: campsite and country store / restaurant. Campsite: Located right next to a beautiful river, and a very short walk to a great swimming hole - complete with a huge boulder to jump off, this place is great for the weekend warrior. You can tent it or rent one of their cabins (which have their own kitchen, A/C and bathroom). Great trout fishing is very easy to find -- we contemplated even putting bait on the hook, it was that easy. General Store / Restaurant: The best part about the general store was the country kitchen. The pancakes are those huge fluffy mamas. Biscuits N Gravy were great, and all the breakfast meats were big and juicy, not fatty and greasy. Our only mistake was waiting until the last day to eat there. Also, make sure to have their shakes. They are awesome. One person in the group ordered a PB&J shake. Not for me, but he loved it. The chocolate shake would satiate the most rigorous chocoholic. read more

We stayed at Caribou Crossing RV Park one night with trailer on the way to Lake Almanor - It's a great little place very homey with a great staff. It's not supper fancy but it's a good value. It's one of the stopping point for people hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with a post office where hikers ship supplies to - So if was fun talking with the hikers from all over the world. They have a nice little restaurant and little store with a good selection of things. River runs along the back of the property and it make a nice sound throughout the night. The owner was nice and we really enjoyed talking with him about the area. If you're looking for something simple or just needing to stop by and get some supplies if you're camping in one of the local forest service campground in the area, stop by and have one of their famous shakes they make there, you'll be glad you did! read more

This place should be a jewel along Highway 70, but it isn't right now. My recommendation is to keep driving either East or West, either to Twain, Quincy, or to Oroville if heading West. We lived there for a little over 2 years. The water tested bad for E.Coli, never sure they fixed it, as they are supposed to test it every month per guidelines of Plumas County, if Chris gets to the water testing. There is also a serious rodent problem with rats, that needs to be taken care of also. There are rat feces in the store/restaurant, they need to get pest control in there. They got rats chewing on inventory. Finally, I got sick of my girlfriend working there for no overtime, and the drama of them telling her she should leave me, and trying to set her up with other guys, or Chris himself. This review is for the actual tent campground. The café and general store were nice, the RV park looked pretty good as well. The tent camping area was horrible full of sharp rocks. It looked like they had some room out behind the ole wood shed next to the creek that they were using took a couple of picnic tables a large pipe couple to use as a fire place and called it a came site. I get that it's supposed to be a campsite but either go one way with it or the other, it was close to a fairly nice facility that had bathroom that were open only when the store was open, or when ever they decided to unlock them. I've been camping a lot of places and I've never left one early before. Maybe I didn't hang around long enough to get the full benefit of it but I honestly couldn't say that I felt comfortable leave my stuff there while I went out to enjoy the area. I found a nice camping spot up the way with no showers but more sensible surroundings. I'm sure the RV is nice. But if your looking for a good camping spot, don't try here. read more

Really bad smell in cabin, like a mix of rotten eggs and propane. Impossible to air out or cover (we tried). Sign on sinks (kitchen and bathroom) says bad smell is due to water from well and claims water is tested weekly. Peeling paint, dirty sink and stove. Windows screwed shut in living area / bedroom. Rear door just has skeleton key lock and could easily be opened by an intruder. Nasty black water when flushing toilet. Stains on carpet. Front porch light out. Furniture arranged inconveniently (had to shift a few things around to make room for the futon) and table space is taken up unnecessarily with knickknacks or kitchen appliances. Lots of deferred maintenance. In addition, they appear to have numerous long-term tenants in the trailer park section, so not sure whether I'd consider this an RV resort as the RV resorts I've been to don't allow stays over 10 days. Has too much of a homey feel to it (lacks polish of a professionally run facility) and because of all the long-term tenants I felt like we were "the show." No real privacy as a lodge is right next door and store is on other side and trailer park is a few more feet over. BBQ was dirty, unkept, unused. A real shame as this place could be quite the "diamond in the rough." The cabin could be cozy once the smell is addressed and the cabin cleaned up, repaired and safety issues addressed, and the area made more welcoming once professional management is brought in and long-term tenants removed. After we left, I sent ownership an email with our concerns but no response. We left a day earlier than planned, the first time we've ever had to do that over many years of travel. Waiting to see whether they refund us for the unused day (not holding my breath). Honestly, with that smell in there and so many other obvious issues I cannot imagine how they could, in good faith, expect a person to pay them to stay there. I suppose the signs on the sinks are their way of excusing themselves. Very disappointed. read more

In traveling down the hill from Lake Almanor, not many restaurants were open on a Sunday in most of the small villages along Hwy. 70. We saw a sign on the side of the road at Caribou that said CAFE OPEN, and, by 2:00 PM, we were starved. We stopped at the Caribou Crossroads Campground Cafe, and were very pleased with the friendly service, the YUMMY hamburger and the ample reading material about the history of the area. If you stop on a warm Spring or Summer day, take your food out to the lone picnic table on the bank of the Feather River beside the highway bridge -- LOVELY! Clean restrooms too! read more

A rip-off. I was camping in this beautiful canyon and came to buy firewood; The wood was sitting in front of the store, uncovered, under heavy rains for 2 days. I gave them money for firewood hoping they'll produce some that had been stashed away covered from rains (as employee told me earlier they got some dry wood). However, only the soggy, completely inside-out wet ones were available, they claimed it was "dry"--lying, greedy people. I asked for refund. I told them I was camping alone and I'm disables, had a frostbite on my hands before, a little hard for me to start this very wet wood dripping with water on a cold morning--they just kept saying "we're not sorry for you, not sorry for you". I did get a refund though, after much rudeness and nasty treatment from them and telling me not to come and buy anything there again. The place is full of scary-looking gun nuts, by the way. read more

I love this place and the people that work there! It is a family owned business in a remote area if California. Anyone giving them bad reviews is someone who does not know how to start a fire or a tourist that can't appreciate rustic charm.
