Intentionally withheld additional fees that WILL BE CHARGED in order to get permit.
I believe we took the appropriate steps when hiring this company. We asked the total cost of to obtain permit, we were told it was going to be $650.00 initially and the final amount of $200.00 after the signed and sealed drawings were ready to be submitted. Did that.
Before paying the total fee of $850.00, I specially asked verbally and by email and I quote "now that we are all paid up, what happens if the permit fails. Sherry, the president of this company stated the architect will take care of that. However, the only other fee we needed to pay was a re-submission since we had already made a submission before hiring her- Did that.
I asked how long will this take she stated a month. OK.
After that, it took her days and even weeks to return our calls, emails and texts. We made arrangements to build based on her time frame. When asked why don't you return our calls and emails and texts her answer was "I was at a seminar" and tried to making the architect look like the bad business man.
To sum all this up. We hired her in March for $850.00 + a re-submission fee of $10 and sum change. We received our permit today JULY 7th AFTER PAYING AN ADDITIONAL $873.55 to the county. That additional amount includes an impact fee and additional permit fees. WHICH WE WERE NEVER MADE AWARE OF. Remember I specifically asked about any other charges. That was her opportunity to advise of "COUNTY FEES". Instead she choose to be negligent in doing so. When I called her to ask about these charges. She had NO ANSWER. She was pretty much quiet. I asked WHY DID YOU CHOOSE NOT TO LET US KNOW. She stated that they do not know the amount of the impact until the permit is approved. SO, right there you can see she KNEW there were additional charges to ADVISE us of whether I had asked her NOT. I asked are you going to a apologize for not letting us know? Her reply, and I quote "oh, I'm sorry" in the MOST CONDESCENDING WAY. I had to ASK for that apology by the way. No accountability for her negligence which cost us. At this point, I don't need to paint a with pretty word of her business etiquette or her business/personal ethics. While I am certain there are many other companies out there who do the same. I just needed to make other consumers out there aware of how this General Contractor lied to get our business. According the architect, we are NOT the only customers who have gone through this.
At the end of the day ... she's a lying unprofessional person. The remaining amount (I UNDERSTAND she never knows how much or if any) This is her line of business. Sherri should have TOLD US there may or may not be an additional amount to pay; be it $0.00 or $5000.00 etc. It should have been OUR DECISION to go ahead with permit or not. Instead, we feel scammed into it and left to hang dry!!!
She doesn't even deserve the ONE star that Yelp is forcing me to select in order to post my review, This about the business PRINCIPAL 101!! read more
