I think I found my new favorite Caribbean spot! I loved the rice and beans, and the fried plantains were great. Not sure if I was just hungry, but the mac & cheese was probably some of the best mac I've had from a restaurant. The jerk chicken was a little hard, but still not as hard as previous jerk chicken dishes I've had before. Plus the FLAVOR was there. Loved that I could taste the little spicy kick to it. The oxtail was also very good, and I'll probably order more of that instead of the jerk chicken next time. Was in the area with my best friend thanks to Firefly but as someone attending for 4 days, we did not want to be subjected to mediocre festival food if we could avoid it. Let me preface by saying we love flavorful food that is prepared well and potentially a bit spicy too. Caribbean Cuisine totally fit the bill. Their menu is quite no frills and it's all on the poster paper on the side. They make food platters in 3 sizes (small, medium, large) and you have your choice of protein. We shared a medium jerk chicken on the first day and loved it so much that we came back the next day to try out their oxtail and beef patties. In a platter, you get some soulful rice and beans, nicely stewed cabbage and veggies, and a plantain or two that's really nicely rendered. There wasn't an aspect to the platter I didn't like. The jerk chicken fell right off the bone and was seasoned perfectly - fragrant, a little sweet with a nice kick. Absolutely amazing. The oxtail was similar but stewed and just as delicious. And let me tell you about the beef patties. They're right there in front of you as your order, kept warm by a heat lamp, but oh my goodness are they worth it. For $2, you get this massive pocket of spiced beef that's essentially a meal in itself. Fantastic beef patty; I've had nothing like it. It's a no-frills hole-in-the-wall that has two tables for two. In other words, you typically order your food to go. We always stuck around and ate there. Service is a little slow, especially when you hit peak meal hour but the lovely owner helps you out and gives you time estimates for the food. I definitely feel like I got a great home-cooked meal here and will venture over to this side of Dover next time I'm in the area. We did walk from the historical Green area and down Loockerman to get here. Dover goes from 0 to 100 pretty quickly but I never felt unsafe in the area that this restaurant resides. I wanted to explore the fine downtown area and parked right next to the store. The crowd around the area are kinda sketchy but I was hungry and I am always willing to try new joints. The fish items are somewhat pricey $18 or 20+), but that is expected. The jerk chicken, chicken carry etc are more reasonable starting in the $8+ range They have multiple sizes and I opted for the medium Jerk Pork for $11.44. The small Jerk Pork was $9 and the to go container reflected accordingly. It comes with red beans and rice + veggies + sweet plantains... so that makes the mean worth it. I did go right before closing time, so that is my fault. The mixed vegetables (cabbage, carrots, corn, etc) was scrumptious and very well seasoned. The jerk pork was pretty delicious with the rice. The pork had a few bones and a little overcooked but had a kick of spice. I may try it again hopefully earlier in the day. The plantains were delicious. There is no place to sit and it doesn't look the cleanest but the server was very nice and friendly. They do give a 4% discount for cash payment transactions. read more

The flavor of the jerk chicken was great but the only this is that I wish it was a little more tender, but the flava was there. The Mac was amazing. Then when she prepared my food whom ever I ask for know jerk sauce and no plantain's which after receiving my order I left and when I check it it was wrong. This is a small food shop. As a reviewer mentioned down below, the restaurant does look a little sketchy, but it's not. This should be classified as a take-out only restaurant, since there is only one small table with two seats. We ordered food, and waited in the shop. The staff was friendly and food came out reasonable quick. My family and I had ordered the jerk chicken, curry chicken and ox tail. All super yummy! I've never really experienced caribbean food but holy moly is this place good. Everything I ordered here was delicious and so flavorful. My favorite was the jerk chicken which has a bit of a kick to it. The meal comes with rice and beans and a side of cabbage. You can ask to sub out the cabbage for plantains, which is what I prefer. And also their pies... yummm. They have a veggie, beef, or curry chicken option. The curry chicken is my favorite. The pastry on the outside is flakey and so good. Sometimes they run out, which makes me sad but it's given me the opportunity to branch out and try other options like the beef, which was also great. I've had Caribbean food at D&H, Karibbean Grille, and this place. Caribbean Cuisine presents Caribbean food that competes well against them. The decor as a bit worn out and the restaurant is very small. There is really no space to sit and enjoy your meal in the restaurant. It is more of a shop than a restaurant. It could use a good renovation. The owners definitely put everything into preparation of good food. The food is surprisingly very good. Having traveled and stayed in Jamaica and Barbados quite extensively (friends and relatives) I was pleasantly surprised at the important small details that Caribbean Cuisine adheres to in the preparation of their food. The inclusion of bits of corn and peas to sweeten the Cabbage is one of those authentic details. In addition the stewed bits of carrot rounded out the flavor of the meat. I've had the curry goat and the oxtail stew. The prices are very reasonable and they smartly have small, medium, and large portion sizes at very reasonable price points.. The area in need of improvement is in the Beef and Chicken patties. They are kept too long in the food warmer/heater and become too dry, unacceptably so. You wait fairly long for your food, but it is much better than what the appearance of the shop presents. read more

Because of my love of Oxtail, I'm familiar with Caribbean food. I did like how the Oxtail was cooked; it was tender and fully cooked. The sauce was tasty. For $6 in small food tray, the price was good. The chicken stew, however, did not come out right. The chicken was hard outside, but the inside meat was okay. I don't know how it was cooked; it looked like it was fried first and then, mixed with heavy marinade sauce. The saltiness of the sauce would open your eyes wide, and your heart would probably go high of blood pressure. The portion I received was quite generous for a small size at price of $5.75 which isn't bad, but they need to go easy with salt and balance the marination to healthy taste. read more

And knockout jerked chicken that was (in my opinion) appropriately dry and had a tangy sweetness that made its way through each bite. I was only given a skimpy plantain with my medium order, but it was tasty! I'd come back in a minute, and will direct my friends here for an authentic treat. This was my first visit, a friend at work told me about this place. I love Ox Tails so had to find this small shop. True island flavor both the shop and food. Reminded me of a small neighborhood shop in Jamaica. The Ox Tails were very tasty....spicy, rice and cabbage was also very good. They also had Ginger Beer, which sometimes can be hard to find.
