Alibi Boat Charters was a recommendation from my wife's co workers, and we are glad we took that advice. When you think of all the money spent on single excursions from a snorkeling trip, turtle watching, half day on a boat it definitely adds up more than what we spent here. As a family of four, booked on Calico Jack, it was $950 plus tax, so an even 1000. Alibi is very transparent with pricing as well. Be prepared to pay fuel cost (we used 25 gal at $5.77/gal) and minimum $200 gratuity. By the time all is said and done you will be close to $1400. If you are going with another family you can split the costs. The charter company will provide you with a cooler stocked with ice and a 1 gallon of water, you bring the food, drinks and snacks.
We brought our water bottles filled already and topped off as needed. As to the snacks, we found ourselves only snacking to take the salt water out of our mouth, other than that we were having fun from location to location exploring beaches and snorkeling spots that by the time we were hungry it was lunch time! Captain Ethan took us to the Island of Luvango for lunch, and this appears to be the spot for everyone. What a beautiful view, and more importantly what a Great lunch! i would highly recommend the bowls, that seemed to be the way to go, and soooo delicious. The drinks were ok, however we were not there to drink. We spent a good hour having lunch, using the restrooms, and exploring the couple of shops they had on the island. After we were all said and done, they take you back to your boat on a dingy and back on the trip.
The rest of the day was spent doing some more exploring snorkeling around the islands. Christmas Cove was probably my favorite snorkeling around a small rock formation where I got to see corral and all types of fish, sea turtles, and ocean life. That in itself was worth the trip. The kids did not want to explore so they stayed following sea turtles and swimming around a sunken ship. After that it was onto the last stop at Epstein Island. Captain Ethan said there was some good exploring here too, and he also said, "remember the island didn't do anything to anybody, the people did," so be open and take it in. If anything just for the purpose of saying you saw it for yourself.
By the end of the day we were spent. Before you knew it the day was over. To me that is a sign of a great day when you lose track of time, off your phone, having good conversation with the Captain to learn about the locations, and documenting your excursion. Captain Ethan took some great photos of us and was very attentive to going to areas that would allow us to see the most of all the islands. Oh, I forgot to mention Oppenheimer beach...yup "The Oppenheimer", where he ended up living the last of his days. Another memorable spot that we can now say we been too.
Should we return back we would definitely consider booking another excursion to explore the British Islands. read more
